I had a wonderful experience at the Outpatient Surgery Center on Tuesday March 5th, 2024. I arrived knowing where to go and what was going to happen next. I have a bad habit of not going to the doctor and was anxious about this surgery and appreciate being well informed of what was going to happen, what to do and what to expect. I arrived about 10 minutes before my scheduled appointment, my name was called and I was in a hospital gown so fast I didn't have time to worry. Everyone I encountered was kind, efficient and knowledgeable, between my rockstar doctors (Dr. Brainard and Dr. Reeves) and the best nursing and support staff in the world I was in great hands. I am recovering well at home and wanted to share my story and say thank you to everyone that helped me on this journey, I wouldn't change even one thing.

I was admitted to St Joseph for 4 days and must say that the staff went over and beyond with their TLC. I had my phone with me but not charger. The nurses would take my phone with them and have it charged every day. Something not taught in nursing school. I did learn one thing during my stay that you are not the only person on the floor that staff needs to attend to. Some people expect special attention but when staff has to deal with 30 or more patients on the floor you need to wait your turn for their TLC. No more than to expect a class in school with 30 students and your child should always require immediate attention. Same in the hospital,it just doesn't work that way. I have made full recovery thanks to the staff at St Joe's. My hat is off to you. Kudos to your professional experience. I highly recommend this hospital.

I had to go in over an issue over the weekend. What I have learned out here is that all things take time. When I got there after the first place turned me down due to having Tri Care. This place opened their door as and yes waits do stink however in my experience they do a great job once you get in there. Or at least in my case they did a great job helping me with my medical issue. They have an awesome LPN in my opinion too and she was very smart on my issue along with others that I deal with. Thank you for the care and the follow up appointments you guys were awesome.

I was disheartened with the emergency waiting room, which appeared old, cluttered, and dirty - actual musty dark rings in toilet and stained, dirty floors. However, the emergency medical staff were amazing. I was admitted the same day for emergency surgery. My experience prior to and following surgery was comforting with the wonderful competent and compassionate team of surgeon, anesthesiologist, emergency doctor, and nurses. If you choose this hospital, you will not be disappointed! The caring staff make up for the deteriorating structure.

80% of the reviews are abit rough 1 star because the food was bad and there was spots on the floor? Guys cmon its a hospital not the MGM.
Anyways
I have had around 15 plus stays here at saint joes a regular to be honest from Picc lines, mid lines, scans, surgery x4, three emergency c-sections, and two 30+ day stays as a patient and two two month stays (currently working on my third monthly stay in the NICU with my 3rd baby) and through out all of it I feel like its home with a bunch of strangers who have become more than friends. From Labor and delivery starting in 2019 to present its gotten better and its always been amazing. I was gone 4 years since my last baby and all of the nicu nurses remembered the absolute smallest memories and details of my son and my daughter. Made me feel ok! More than ok. I felt peace being back like they got this and my third preemie is gonna be loved and cared for just as hard by monica, bree, rené, marie, sarah, hermina, julie, lauren ot lactaion, and my absolute saving graces the worlds best women Cathy, maria, and lauren all were With lactaion they would answer a phone call at 3 am if i needed them they have gone to bat for me so many times its insane. This world doesn't deserve Cathy maria, and lauren (blonde short hair lauren). Those three women are absolute gifts from god. They all make me proud to be a mom and a breast feeding mom at that. We recently moved to yuma 5.5 hours away and you bet i drove three tiles a week down from yuma to receive care from dr sen and to ensure i gave my baby to the best NICU.
Please really read through the reviews before making a decision based off the food and dirty floors. My grandma was here my grandpa and numerous family members treated and passed her and all were absolutely amazing processes. Thank you saint joesph hospital for the care and love you give and show. Please just add more salt to the frys thats it
The trejo family with love from BoHdi, Storm and Yahitza

After reading all the reviews on here I was a bit worried my mom wouldn't be in the best care while she recovered from spine surgery. However, the staff and nurses on the neurology floor were wonderful. Everyone was super attentive, understanding, patient and treated her with a high level of empathy. She complained about the food, but luckily there are plenty of restaurants nearby that I could quickly grab something from. Glad this was such a good experience during this difficult and vulnerable time for her.

My mom went to emergency at St Joseph after she broke her hip. The emergency staff were awesome. They took care of her very well in ER even though the hospital was packed with patients. We didnt feel any negligence. She got an operation the next day. Again all the staff including the doctors were nice and explained what they are doing well. After operation we received v good care for a week.I will definitely come back there if anything happens to my mom again.

I'm amazed at the number of bad reviews St. Joseph's Hospital, Tucson has been given. I was at this Hospital for a little over 24 hours and from start to finish was treated with nothing but respect and care. I don't believe I had one encounter with any staff that left me feeling otherwise. I don't remember everyone's name, but most of them I do. In pre op my nurse was Brian. He was great, he went out of his way to answer my questions. He also placed an IV on the back of my left hand perfectly. When it was removed 24 hours later there was no indication it had been there. I have great veins, and in the past when having blood drawn almost always end up with a baseball sized bruise that takes a week to go away. I was also visited by the anesthesiologist prior to surgery. Unfortunately, I can't remember her name, but not only was she personable, but spent a lot of time explaining the anesthesia process to me, and helped me get to and from the restroom....specialists don't normally do that kind of thing. Obviously I don't remember much after anesthesia, but awoke in recovery in the care of Kathy (Katherine) a traveling nurse from South Dakota. I was in recovery for a long time waiting for a room and she was so attentive and caring, even though she had other patients. Last, but not least I was moved upstairs to the 4th floor. I forget the unit #. I was cared for there by Sara and Jocelyn and overnight by Heather and Paul. Once again I was dumbfounded by how connected to their tasks these people were. They didn't go about their duties in a perfunctory way. All of them made eye contact, listened, and responded in appropriate ways. I was not looking forward to this 24+ hour stay, but all of the staff made it incredibly tolerable. I think some of these bad reviewers really need to take a long hard look at themselves. Maybe reevaluate the idea that they are the center of the universe, they aren't. I walked away from this hospital with a very good feeling. Thank you!

My 91 year old mother fell and broke her hip 19 days ago on a Friday night. She lives 90 minutes away and was brought in by ambulance. I met the ambulance and went into the ER with her. Immediately a trauma team of 6-8 people came in to attend to her. I waited in the outer room for about 20 minutes and then was brought back to stay with her. She had surgery on Sunday morning and was discharged on Tuesday to a rehab facility. Her care was excellent! The staff know what they are doing, and everyone we encountered was kind. The priest visit on Saturday morning was nice, and brought an added degree of comfort even for a non catholic. Her entire trauma team visited her on Monday for a follow up which was quite impressive too. All in all, the nuns have assembled a great team, thanks!

My mom recently had to undergo an emergency procedure at St Joseph’s hospital. We thought my mom would be in and out of the hospital the following day. My sister and I were concerned about my mom, as she has dementia. We were concerned about not being with my mom 24/7 because my mom’s dementia causes extreme confusion and behaviors later in the day, or “sundowning”. My mom gets extremely confused in new environments and is not fully able to advocate her concerns for herself too. I am so thankful for the St.Joseph’s nurses and care staff for all of the techniques they used to keep my mom calm, connected and safe. The first night my mom was there, I advised staff about my mom’s sundowning behaviors and the possibility that my mom might try to leave. The care staff were so amazing and were able to install a camera system to assist in monitoring her safety. I was so impressed. I am also grateful that, while it would have been easier for my sister and I to have my mom discharged the following day as was originally planned, the doctors advised us that they wanted to keep her and monitor her for several different issues that arose after her operation. I am beyond grateful to the doctors, nurses and care team for making sure my mom’s health was their priority. I think the Care m mom received was a big factor in the success of my mom’s recovery. Thank you!

Everybody will have a different experience. But on my visit to the ER and subsequent admittance for the night was actually a good experience under the circumstances. In general, the staff was very helpful but my doctor was very good and explained things very well to me. The superstar of my visit was the nurse assigned to me, and others of course, Carole in unit 1 south was absolutely amazing. She was caring and very good at her job. Hope that if you have to stay there, she is your nurse. In my opinion, she went above and beyond to make sure that I was comfortable, knew what was going on, and had everything that I needed. 100 stars for Carole.

I had an excellent experience in the Outpatient Surgery Center at St Joseph’s hospital. I went in yesterday for eye surgery. From the beginning, I was impressed. A woman who registered me was helpful and clearly service-oriented. Out of all the nurses and technicians I dealt with, not a single person seemed inattentive. Whether there’s chaos at times, I don’t know, but I felt calm and comfortable and in good hands being prepared for my surgery. Everybody appeared to coordinate smoothly. I was once in a big university hospital for major surgery. I was fine until I was taken to a room after surgery. I felt ignored, and the bit of attention I did receive seemed to be a bother for my nurse. My surgery went very well. Of course, I completely trusted my surgeon who I had chosen after scouring the Internet for the best possible surgeon. I felt the people who took care of NDE cared about their work and about the comfort of the patient. If I have to go to a hospital overnight, I told my husband to drive straight to this one.

Transferred to North 2 from a smaller hospital. Great care by staff. Nurses and techs are the best. Doctors who formed my team were knowledgeable and professional. They took the time to explain all procedures and what was going to be done
My husband was able to visit between 8 and 8. Even the food was good. I'm home now and can only say good things about my care there.

Okay, first off, look at Google reviews for world-renowned medical facilities like the Cleveland Clinic. They aren't much better than those of this place. Second, my mother was recently admitted after a fall, complaining of hip and shoulder pain, and they did extensive scans, found nothing, but kept her because of heart rhythm irregularities(atrial fibrillation), along with rapid heart rate. They worked to keep the heart rate under control, and succeeded, and tried to wean her from IV to take tablets, but she had trouble swallowing. Finally that was resolved, and they were able to administer the drug by tablet. She was 90 years old, and they were great about their care for her. Unfortunately, she went into ventricular fibrillation and died suddenly. The doctor informed the desk to give us permission to go to her room before visitor hours, and they passed us through without hassle to see her one last time. Even an attending tech came in and tearfully told us about her experience with her and what a nice and gracious person she was. In the immortal words of Ten Bears, "That is all I have to say."

I had back surgery and the entire staff took great care of me! To Dr Wagoner and RN Kelly in the ER, to Dr Wilson, and his magical hands as a surgeon. Shout out to my Nurse Meghan in the 5th floor. I can't thank you all enough.

Huge shout out to St. Joseph's labor and delivery Ed and labor and delivery unit. Cori the labor and deliver ED night triage nurse took amazing care of me this past weekend and getting me admitted. Dr. Jessica Serrano-Rodriguez along with the OR staff took amazing care of me before during and after my c-section. Huge shout out to the Labor and delivery nurses during my stay (Amber-nurse tech, Nurses- Beth, Karen, Chelsea, Rachel) they took such good care of me and my newborn. They made us feel very well loved and you could tell how much they truly care about their patients and their job. THANK YOU

There’s no doubt that being in the hospital is no fun. It’s all hurry up and wait. Even though TMC is right by my house we decided to come here because it’s smaller and we hoped less stressful. We thought we would take my mom for a quick whirl through the emergency room and be back home. Three days later we are still here. So, considering it not under the best circumstances, I really can’t say enough nice things about the staff. EVERY single person I have encountered here has been lovely! The nursing staff has been very thoughtful of both my mom and myself. They have tried to keep me informed the entire time and treated me with as much courtesy and care as they have her. I’m super glad she ended up here. I highly recommend this hospital (but not the experience-I’m ready to go home and so is she!).
