I’ve been a patient of Dr. Bursell starting in 2015. Being from rural SE and subject to our sometimes difficult means of travel, he has always gone the extra mile to get me treated even when the fence gets high at reception. Personable and professional staff.

I had the good fortune to have Dr. Gustavo Garcia as my surgeon for my recent carpal tunnel release and will have the other released soon.
He is not only professional and respectful but he's kind. He listens and then addressed all of my questions and concerns and even drew illustrations to give me a better understanding of the procedure. : )
All of this is to say that I have total confidence in Dr. Garcia's skill and expertise. I think Southeast is very fortunate indeed that Dr. Gustavo Garcia decided to hang his shingle in Juneau.

I LOVE JBJC ❤ Dr. Gustavo Garcia has always been 💯 helpful especially with my carpal tunnel, I had my left hand done last month and get my right hand is getting done ✔ on Wednesday. And another shout out to his assistant also. They really know how to make sure I’m comfortable every step of the way. Billing has also been nice as well I had a issue and she has always returned my calls in a timely manner and fixes any issues I’ve had.

Dr. Harrah was a really nice guy to me, I have had long-standing issues with my shoulder after I left a clavicle fracture/break untreated (didn't know it was broken at the time), and he took the time to make it very clear what potential approaches I could take to take care of it. It's definitely something I could have gone through surgery for, and as a surgeon, he probably had a good incentive to suggest it, but he instead let me know that there were also other options to try first that might help me keep more optimal function of my shoulder joint. For that I'm very grateful.

Numerous visits over the last few years and have never had any of the problems posted here. Everyone is helpful and nice. Times run no different that in any doctor office, before lunch a little behind, reset at lunch the little behind at end of day. PLUS, great shoulder surgery recently by Dr. Schwarting.

My experience at Juneau Bone & Joint has been a great one from beginning to end. My surgeon, Dr. Schellack, was thorough in figuring out what my options were and when it came time for my double partial knee replacement, he did a fantastic job. It’s been 3 months since surgery and I am hiking, biking, and living with so much less pain than the previous 10 years! Thank you, Dr. Schellack, and the whole JBJ team that has taken such great care of me!

I saw Dr. Schellack for a foot injury that occurred at work. Not only was he able to see me right away, he was friendly and explained everything in detail to me during my appointment. I highly recommend him, and all other doctors that are at Juneau bone and joint! The staff is friendly and they make everything smooth!

I have had nothing but good experiences. The staff has been nice and wait times are about the same as any other doctors office. You wait

Dr. Schwarting is great -- he did an excellent job with my hip replacement, and I'm very happy I had him do it (there was no need to go to Seattle).

I have issues with the billing practices of the physical therapy side.

This rating reflects their billing practices. The MRI was more than $600 over what insurance considers "reasonable and necessary," which comes out of my pocket. Visits with the Physician's Assistant were submitted as a visit with the MD and charged accordingly.

The actual care experience was fine, but their billing practices are downright userous. Save some money and find an in-network provider anywhere else in the country.

My appointment went perfectly fine, the doctor was great. However its IMPOSSIBLE to get anyone on the phone. I had to call eleven (11) times over the course of a week before anyone answered, just to get an appointment set up from a referral.

Got a nerve test done for my wrists and had some lasting side affects of the procedure. After the procedure when I noticed the side affects, I tried calling the doc to see if what I was experiencing was normal, but couldn't get ahold of him. The front staff answered my call once and took a note of my concerns saying they would relay it to the doctor, and then didn't hear back. I called and called but no one answered my calls after that, and to this day, almost a year and a half later I'm still having the same side affects. Very unprofessional, but I've come to find this type of business practice is typical in Juneau: no professionalism and subpar service.

I had been going here for nearly four years for the same issue. I found the staff and Dr. Bursell increasingly rude over the years and the last time I went in, Dr. Bursell was so rude and flippant, I decided to go elsewhere. Turns out, I have a pretty serious diagnoses that could have been resolved four years ago if the Dr. had known what he was doing. Also, the doctor kept saying I need more physical therapy even though I had already done three rounds over the last four years and it felt like it made things worse. Turns out, the physical therapy was indeed making things worse. Bottom line, rude Dr., rude receptionist, rude staff. The one nurse I usually dealt with was nice, so kudos to her.

They definitely don't know how to be part of the Southeast Alaska community, or care about the patients, so by process of elimination, I guess they exist for the sole purpose of extorting people who need help.
This is a review of the Center itself, and not the quality of the individual doctors.

Extremely lengthy wait times, discourteous receptionist. Do not work with patients to get them in when needed, and have been fairly rude to others I know who tried to set appointments. They clearly know they have no competition in Southeast.

Doctors are great, customer service, nonexistent. No one answers the phone, calls are seldomly returned. They failed to arrange my visit and treatment through the VA which cost me over $700. Drake, a person who is supposed to be the interim manager in Hanna’s absence, is less than efficient, and I’m being nice. I emailed Mr. Turner, the CEO, and guess what, no response. Why this organization still exists is incomprehensible.

Horrified by this place. I went in for a second opinion on foot pain. Dr. Woelberger told me "let the pain guide you." As someone who has had family members and friends in active addiction, "letting the pain guide them" was how their addiction started. Also, I don't really know what "let the pain guide you" means. I would have rather him said "I don't know. I would like you to see my colleague who is foot and ankle certified, I'm not qualified to help you."

During the appointment, Dr. Woelberger's demeanor was extremely offputting and he rudely asked me "what was your goal, coming here today?" As I stated in intake, I wanted a second opinion on the foot pain I had.

As someone who works as a medical biller, I was HORRIFIED to see the total billed charge. From Fair Health, I can see that their billing for 3 views of foot X-rays alone is above the 95th percentile.

Since they are not in network with Aetna, guess what happens when your insurance doesn't pay the full balance? The patient is billed the remainder. That business practice alone is disgusting.

For anyone with an out of network insurance, I'd be very wary and would ask them what they bill insurance before coming here.
