Alaska Guardhouse Lodging

Phyllis and Joanna (and Finn!) made my whole experience in Haines special and memorable. They are so kind and friendly, made me feel the place as home. I’ll recommend this place to my friends and come back again when I have a chance to visit Haines in the future.

Wonderful place to stay in Haines. Friendly hosts go above and beyond :) Beautiful property in a great location. There’s a nice dining area and sitting room as well as outdoor seating on the back porch. Would definitely stay here again.

Phyllis and Joanna went beyond to just give me a place to sleep at. First, I thought this place was a vet. Not. It was a lodge. I came in because I panicked. My dog died on the Alaska Marines Highway. His dead body was in the back of truck inside. I was about to have it created as soon as I entered Canada border. But...I was not allowed to enter! I did not know anyone in Haines! I was required to retake cov19 testing and was required to complete ArriveCAN. The website has no instruction in how to write the Canada address. It was horrible. I stopped by the lodge. Then from there...everything went surprisely smooth. I actually saw no future when they said there was no vet or even a place to cremate my baby. I did not care to live, honestly. Did not. But Phyllis and Joanna made it all possible and I then saw a light in the dark tunnel, I saw a future again. Zeus was carried to airport then was cremated. I drove off with a peace of mind and aching heart. I knew I have to look forward, not back. Without a slight of future, all of my abilities and skills would not be used to teach deaf kids. All gone would be gone and waste. But...I fought to get back on the wagon and press to future and now Zeus in spirit (ashes, too) and I are at Anchorage. We slept at the lodge...as well. A wonderful lodge the Godsend people run. ❤🧡💛💚💙💜🤎🖤🤍

The Guardhouse is a great place for those that like to chill in a friendly, family-like environment. The hosts are super friendly and go above and beyond the normal to make your stay special.

Great location, 5 minute walk to centre of town, less to the water. Generous hosts and friendly dog.

Warm and friendly, and a part of historic Fort Seward.
