I came in end of January after seeing Breezy (Willy) and knew he was the dog for me. I wanted a calm, quiet, well-mannered dog and Breezy (Willy) is it. I knew when I approached his kennel and saw his big beautiful brown eyes lock with mine that he was the one. He is the absolute best dog...never runs off, stays right by your side everywhere we go. He loves his daily bone I get from the meat section at the grocery store, car rides, playing outside and snuggle time. He is the most loving, sweetest dog ever. I am so happy we found each other.

Animal control usually gets a bad rap, especially in a large, mostly rural county like Carroll County, GA. I only have wonderful things to say about CCAC, however. We are new to Carroll County and are in a more rural area where, unfortunately, we have found that pet spay/neuter and fencing is not the norm (although we have done both).

Today we found a maybe 6 week old, scrawny puppy screaming outside our primary fenced-in yard area. It was on our uncleared property. I took the puppy to a safe, cool place and gave it a bath and water. Then I called Carroll County Animal Control. The lovely lady, the dispatcher?, who took my call was understanding and outstanding. I understood that I may or may not receive a visit today given the time and our location. We made plans to figure out a way to house the squirt over the weekend away from our own pups, if needed.

A couple of hours later, however, an Animal Control vehicle was in our driveway. The officer was outstanding and I cannot say enough good things about Courtney. She not only was super sweet to the puppy, but had an idea of the puppy's owner. She called me later and said she found the owner and the puppy had wondered off. It was reunited with its mama.

She was compassionate and professional. Thank you, Animal Control.

I had one bad experience during Covid but was unfair in my rating. Great shelter. I adopted 2 puppies in 2019 and cannot imagine my life without them. I do regret not getting their brother and hope he is with a wonderful family.

We spent a good part of the day calling the shelter to come out to get a nuance dog that someone had dropped a few weeks ago. Only after calling the sherrifs office did officer Justin come to the house and help us remove the animal. He was extremely professional and kind to us and the animal.

I have nothing but praise for Carroll County's Animal Shelter. The shelter stands out to me - compared to all the shelters I've visited - as clean, organized, well thought out, and staffed by people who come across more as volunteer 'animal nuts' than employees. :)
We've adopted a dog and 4 cats from Carroll County. Our precious pets were well cared for, clean, and up to date on medical treatment when they came to their forever home.
There are a lot of precious friends there that need a home. The bonding rooms and staff make it a great opportunity to 'feel each other out' before committing. There is a huge peace of mind that comes from adopting from the shelter, as opposed to adopting from craigslist, for example. And, mutts are just heartier, happier dogs. I swear they all know where they come from. If they get hard to handle, I make em sit and watch the 'arms of the angels' video for a little while - that usually straightens them out.
Seriously - thanks to all the staff and supporters of this great animal shelter. We're so lucky to have it.
I'm including pics of Alice, my girl, and the sisters: Cotton and McKenzie.

I just adopted two doggies from the shelter and had a wonderful experience. Some reviews say the staff was rude...my experience was the exact opposite.
According to my vet this shelter has a very good reputation. My animals are healthy and were clean/parasite free when I picked them up. I'm grateful to these folks who spend every day trying to make life better for our animal firends. Thank you!

A family friend found a young male husky about a year ago running down a state road in Carroll County. They contacted us about adoption, however, first wanted to have him properly vetted by CC Animal Shelter. The process went smoothly, and the original owner surrendered ownership. This pooch had full blown Heart Worm, and other Issues. He was treated by the shelter Veterinary team and released to our care. This incredible service was provided at a FRACTION of the cost my vet quoted. Huskies are not for the faint of heart, and tend to be difficult to train (done this before). The "transition" phase was handled well by the shelter staff and he came to our house with a very positive temperament considering his prior circumstances. I am happy to report that he has adapted well to both city and country life. He even walks off-leash with me much of the time (when we are not in ATL). I have included a few pics of "Handsome" Hank below. Thank you CCAS!

I think this animal shelter is great! I adopted a cat from here not too long ago, and he's a happy, healthy kitty. Two years old now. When I came, we were able to really meet and spend time with the cats which helped us decide which one we wanted. I would definitely adopt from here again, i've never had a negative experience with this animal shelter, I would recommend it to anyone looking for a furry friend.

Just celebrated my sweet guys 7th birthday. I adopted him at Carroll County Animal Shelter back in December 2015. He’s been happily residing with us in Florida the last 4 years. He’s the best guy! Reginald aka Reggie 🐈 I move a LOT, and he has been everywhere with me 💜 He has lived in Pensacola Beach and now we are living in Panama City Beach. He really is living his best life! He loves going outside to catch lizards and frogs. Then afterwards he enjoys coming inside and curling up in bed. He is potty trained to the max. He will wake me up dead out of my sleep to take him outside to do his duties. No litter box here 😉 he’s THAT smart. Thanks Carroll County. ♥

Six months after adopting two kittens and one adult cat I have nothing but praise for the staff and facility. I was treated well each time I came in. It was clear how hard staff were working during a time when they were clearly caring for an exorbitant amount of animals. I am grateful for and thankful for the staff because I know I couldn't do what they do day in and day out.

This shelter's volunteers and staff were kind, helpful, insightful and extremely hospitable. I came in on a Saturday from Atlanta to meet (and adopt) a puppy I saw online. While the cages and facility may not be as large or employ modern-designs like that of the Atlanta Humane Society, this shelter has a team that cares. It's NOT a no-kill shelter, and it doesn't appear to have overwhelming visitor traffic, which played a role in my decision to adopt from the Carroll County Animal Shelter.

The cleanest county shelter you will ever go to. The inmates do a wonderful job keeping up the shelter and the animals. The office staff is not very helpful BUT that is quickly overlooked. The animals are all spayed/neutered and have had shots. This is a really great place to adopt an animal from.

My family adopted a very sweet loving little dog, we gave her a new name Star. We came in 15 minutes till closing and the staff was very kind and gave us the time we needed to look for a new fur baby. There are so many dogs and cats that are so playful and sweet. Thank you Carroll County Animal Shelter !

I adopted a small kitten from here a few years ago and she has been just lovely! I came back today to get another kitty and once again had an outstanding experience. The staff was kind on the phone and in person, and was super patient with a physcially handicapped person in my family. Will definetly be recommending this animal shelter to my friends and family! Thank you CCAS!

I just adopted a dog from CCAS and my pitbull Jäger, my bf and I absolutely love her. Her name is Esther but we changed it to Willow😊
The lady that I met was super nice to me and my dog and it was a overall a pleasant experience. We also brought a stray dog here to see if she had a microchip (luckily she did and was able to get back to her family) and that experience was also very pleasant even tho it was breif. Right now Willow is all curled up beside me fast asleep, so happy that we adopted this sweet little girl!! ❤

I just adopted a 5 month old shepherd mix on Monday and I honestly had a very pleasant experience. Every person greeted me kindly and getting Ryker was a wonderful experience after losing my first dog. I look forward to many days with this sweet guy and hope all of those animals find loving homes. Thank you again!

These one star reviews are some of the most rediculous reviews of any kind I have ever seen. Mad because they won’t accept out of county surrenders to a shelter already over capacity? Mad and saying their operating hours are proof they don’t care as opposed to proof they don’t have an unlimited budget. Please people, this shelter does everything it can with the limited resources the county (which is already in a budget shortfall) can provide. Do you want to lay off deputies or fire fighters so the cat room can smell better?

It’s a solidly run shelter staffed by people who wish every pet in there could find a forever home. It’s not their fault so many county residents haven’t been paying attention to the “please spay/neuter your pet” commercials for the past ten years.

I adopted a puppy in October and had to take him back for a rabies shot. Everyone was friendly and helpful. I called a few times before adoption and once since and my call was promptly answered and they were real nice. O will use again if I adopt another dog. A+++++ Service
