Newt's Catfish Seafood & Steaks

Not a long wait and everything was hot and fresh. We 5 had different items and everyone was happy with their meal and service. Will go back again!

Food is always delicious and worth the money. Some of the best fried shrimp I've ever tasted! Ribeye steak is better than lots of area steak houses.
Service has been top notch 4 of the 5 times we've been. Atmosphere is typical of most catfish restaurants throughout the south - nothing fancy for sure.

I have been intent on going here for a while. 1st, service was 6 star. Friendly, efficient, and answered all questions with a smile. I had fried catfish and fried shrimp. Batter on both are excellent. Shrimp are good sized. Catfish is clean and cooked just right. I also had the okra. It seemed to have a different batter. It was great. Great okra, you may ask. Yes, Great! Everything was delicious, with 1 caveat. The coleslaw was only so-so. I cannot specify why. Maybe it's because the rest was so good. We also had fried jalapeños, which were outstanding. (Man, I had a lot of fried food that day.) Good portion sizes. We all left with food still on the plate. We are looking forward to the next time we go so that we can try some of their other offerings.

We were camping at Paul B Johnson state park and this place wasn't too far up the road and a friend recommended it. I got the seafood platter and she got the filet wrapped in bacon. Everything was delicious and the people were super friendly! We will be back!

Food was excellent! Some of the best catfish I've ever had, cooked perfectly. Everything was fresh and tasted great. This was our first visit, we will definitely be back soon.

After growing up in the Hattiesburg area, I just found this place! Can't believe I've missed 25 years of this goodness, but I'm making up for it now!

Absolutely love this restaurant! Fun, relaxed, family atmosphere with super food and even better service! Madison was our server and she was amazing! She suggested items, quick to get refills, and a great smile/attitude!

Lots, I mean, LOTS, of food choices and ever one I've tried has been fantastic. My favorites so far, other than the Loaded Swamp Fries, have been the fried oysters, butterfly shrimp, and especially, the catfish. Will try the steak and potato next.

And... There is free ice cream for dessert! How do you top that! This place should be on your list to visit! 🩴🩴

Amazing fresh seafood! Had the seafood platter and gator tail. Fried oysters melt in your mouth. It was better than Bourbon Street! The popcorn shrimp had a delicious breading that was different than the batter on the fresh catfish filet. Everything had a unique flavor and did not taste like everything else. Even the french fries had a great flavor of their own. The first time I tried gator tail, and I highly recommend it. It's chewy with a nice flavor, not swamp flavor like frog legs. Each time I pass anywhere near Dixie MS I'll be sure to go here again and again!

Very fair prices portion are just right go and give it a try if you’ve been wanting to find a place with some awesome seafood

They have the best catfish I have had in a while. If you have never tried them you need to. I would recommend this place to everyone. Love it.

The food here is the bomb! Had steak and lobster. It was delicious. One of my favorite steakhouses. My waitress Kaitlin was fantastic. Has a great personality and she's on top of customer service. I'll be back next time I'm in Hattiesburg.

We eat there at least once a week, sometimes 2 and 3. Great staff and delicious food.

My waitress was delightful and accommodating. This is the first restaurant in years to offer a whole fried catfish. IT WAS DELICIOUS! I haven't had catfish that good since I moved to MS 8 years ago. I can't wait to bring my mother!

The fried filets were the best I've ever had from here.

I ordered a fried shrimp and fish combo. I like tarter sauce with my shrimp and fish. I ordered extra tarter. Got home with my order and my tarter sauce was ranch dressing. My meal was missing the main ingredient and I couldn't enjoy the $23 plate. The shrimp was so brown they looked like oysters. Just awful waste of money. Never again!
