The Shop at MATTER

Very helpful and organized staff! They were able to point me in the direction of books based on my personal preferences. Also have a selection of stationery and goodies to purchase as gifts! Highly recommended indie book store.

Love this little shop. It has a ton of cool books in the front area, and a printing press with tons of art in the back of the store. The store clerk was kind enough to chat with me and give me a tour of the store, and tell me a little bit about the artist who hosts print press classes for the community and makes a majority of the art at the shop. I plan on stopping by again to pick up a book and some cool prints!

By and far one of the coolest places I went during my Denver weekend trip. This place is amazing for independently published books, BIPOC authors, and so much art. The art book’s section is fire. The non fiction second is awesome and labeled clearly based on topic. Everyone was friendly and even gave me a tour of the printshop in the back. It was so cool and the folks there were even showing imported art books from a recent convention they went to and brought back. So unique and such a great store if you’re downtown.

Such a wonderful space filled with all kinds of things to love. I thoroughly enjoy the staff and shop, want to cheer them all the way!! The new annex is such a joy to spend time in. Cannot walk out empty handed, these shelves are thoughtfully curated with treasures by people who love and care for Matter.

Great store. I believe the owner helped me and she was very helpful. Super nice. She was able to help me find the last copy of something I was looking for, for my sister.

MATTER is an incredible bookstore with design, social conscious, and urban studies books that are often hard to find, pulling from a wide range of publishers like Verso, Phaidon, MIT Press. Beyond the incredible curating, print making, and great customer service, you get the sense that MATTER is a true shop front: if you have a chance to strike up a conversation, then you find the uniqueness in the connection MATTER has to global publishing, activism, and authorship. Denver is a better and more enriched cultural city for having MATTER!

Yes the bookstore is an astounding resource. The items range from quirky to COOL! But the dedication to community, design, and letterpress workshops are what keep this on my "in Denver? Stop in. Experience and contribute to a culture of curiosity." diversity embraced.

I was extremely impressed with the inventory the Shop has! They have a really wonderful collection of books, fun and functional stationary, and a bunch more neat treasures all throughout! I have a few of their pins as well and they are some of my new favorites. Definitely make sure to stop by if you're in the area!

Top notch curation sense of print material. Where you want to go if you're into the more radical, punk, experimental, or art world kind of works. I didn't catch her name, but whoever was working was great. Was getting recommended picks for zines, local stuff, or whatever.

Wow, what an awesome find in Denver. Walked in searching for an obscure book, and although we didn’t find it we found ourselves absolutely in awe of what an awesome space this was. You can feel the creative energy pulsing through the walls, and both the design student running the shop and one of the owner designers, Rick, were just an absolute pleasure to meet and talk to. We could have spent an entire day just looking through Rick’s incredible work and all of the other incredible design centered tools, books, art, etc. can’t wait to come back.

Very interesting book selection. Great staff. The house-made screen printing and paper products are unique and artistic. You should xheck them out.

They don't have everything, but they'll help you find something else you want anyway. Lots of arts and zines.

We stopped in for the first time and Jasmine (not sure of the proper spelling) was phenomenal! She walked us around and gave us all the information for the beautiful printing presses and items in the store. She was so funny and friendly. Definitely made the experience so much more memorable!

Bookstore and Creative space with supplies and reading materials of all kinds. The letterpress evening events are truly unique.

Loved visiting this store when we were in the neighborhood. Such a gem and met the amazing owner and staff. Could have spent so much time perusing the books and all the goods. Such a creative space! Will visit next time we’re in town!

I love this bookstore! Inside is cute, quirky, and totally unique. Their website needs a little patience to navigate, but is accurate and comprehensive of what they sell. I've always found great gifts here and love to browse just to see what they're offering. They have tons of literature by Black, Indigenous, and other POC authors which are hard to find in bigger chains who don't make a conscious effort to represent those titles. Overall a great store that you feel good shopping at!
