Been boating on Chatfield a few times, this was the first time I ventured around the lake on the paved path, nearly 11.5 miles if you're interested. I have to say it was quite nice! Very well maintained path suitable for walking, running, hiking, and biking, with plenty of restrooms for pitstops along the way. Just a relatively small section of dirt road on the east/ northeast side approaching the dam, nothing a cold on a bike could not handle. I will certainly return!

We camped 3 nights on C-loop in October. This park is very popular. All of the Full Hookup sites were booked. C-loop is electric only. Fill water tank at dump station as the water spigots in C-loop are designed to thwart use of a hose.
Sites are spacious. Driveways curve alongside the loop rather through to the next loop.

This campground was awesome. Each loop (3 or 4 of them) was arranged in concentric circles with the sites just off the road and parallel to it (pull thru). They were full hookups. Many, if not all, sites had views of the lake. There are paved trails weaving around the property for walking, jogging, or biking. We didn't try it, but they advertised boat rentals at the marina. We would definitely come back here.

My pup's favorite dog park! Chatfield is pretty obviously a place for boats. BUT. It also has a great dog park! It has two lakes, a big walking ring, and plenty of space to play fetch. There's two parking lots, two plumbed bathrooms, plenty of free doggy bags, and ample trash cans. There's also a really nice dog wash station. The annual state park + dog park pass are both well worth it if you're a resident. This dog park is so much more than a fenced in rectangle. I take my boy, Otis, here about once a week. Cannot reccomend enough!

Always beautiful and peaceful here. The accessibility makes it a wonderful park for anyone who enjoys views. Plus, it's always lovely to watch people riding horses or flying their model planes ❤

Chatfield is a very nice state park! It offers a lot of different activities for a lot of different levels of athleticism and interests. We went there to stand up paddle board and kayak and found lots of different access points and calm coves to be in that weren't too choppy or out on the main lake in completely open water.

The restroom facilities are clean and the park staff is super nice!

Beautiful place no matter the season! It’s not crowded here! Plenty of parking and a viewing tower with a picnic table, picnic tables around the park ! The perfect spot to enjoy the sunset . Boats going back to the marina, there’s two. Voleibol court, extensive camping grounds, welcome center, horse back riding, nice for walking the trails, bike ride, or just birdwatching!

Tons of people here during the summer months. Long lines just to get in the park. A lot of fun activities like horseback riding, hot air ballooning, swimming, boating, camping, hiking, biking and so much more. Get there early and start have fun.

We got the state park pass with our registration and asked the attendant what we needed to display and she nicely explained we can just enter and our license plate is in a database so we don't need anything else! That was awesome. We wanted to go snow shoeing but all the snow was gone, but there were great walking trails and we discovered some new parts of the park! Formerly, I was only familiar with the gravel ponds, which are great for paddle sports and the swim beach. We hope to try snowshoeing again and will try to do some camping or family outings as the weather gets warmer. Highly recommend the car registration parks pass!

We've tried for years to get a camp spot for 5-7 days in one place and all we could ever find open was a day here and a day there, so reserving wasn't possible. We love camping, but it's gotten so hard to get a spot in Colorado. The foothills were home to us for 50 years and we keep hoping to come back and visit family without having to stay in hotels. The day we saw an opening we jumped on it. It was early, and we know what April can be like...sure enough it snowed on us and the hydrants froze at night (we disconnected the water hose). We couldn't believe how packed the campground was so early, and with the weather. Still, it was great to be there. Nesting herons are no longer to be found, but we enjoyed watching a flock of white pelicans flying above us, and resting in a group on the ground, stretching and occasionally flying. They're so huge, so graceful. Saw lots of deer grazing, and a bald eagle flew low overhead.

Really pretty and very open. I will say that the line to get in was kind of slow and it was suuuper busy first thing in the morning but, because it's so big it was still easy to find a fishing spot around 10am. I will say because of the boats and the amount of people swimming in non-designated swim areas fishing was harder. Had people next to us that knew we were fishing and they threw a football and ran right through my fishing line as I pulled it in. Guy almost stepped right on my hook. But hey, things happen and it wouldn't have been my fault - I warned them multiple times.

Restrooms are by each of the parking lots and you'll want to bring some hand sanitizer.

Stunningly beautiful
With all the rain, it's like the Everglades Lots of water--even halfway up the tree trunks. People are relaxed and enjoying the peaceful atmosphere in the late evening hours.

Gorgeous park! I came here with my coworkers to do some boat training, CPR instruction, etc. My company rented cabanas for the lectures. No trash, clean restrooms, polite boaters, and boy did it beat a PowerPoint!

The water level is still elevated, causing less beach space. The location is and has always been exceptionally clean and beautiful.

Whether it is paddle boarding, fishing, or active water sports, Chatfield does not fail to disappoint.

I would stay away from the dog park if your dog likes water. A trip to the vet is needed after that.
