Beautiful nature preserve with lots of birds and untouched areas. No dogs or bikes are allowed on the path to keep it pristine. I saw black billed magpies, robins, & red-winged black birds; & I'm sure as it warms up there'll be even more birds. I visited in late Feb. The place is covered in cottonwoods, tall grasses, & bushes, and will be very pretty in the spring & summer.

Great spot on the Animas to hang with the dogs, swim, kayak, raft. Right on the Animas River trail so easy to get to by bike or walking. Parking area fills up in the warmer months so come early for a spot.

Lovely part of the river with soft sands, and clear waters deep enough to swim. No parking available for large vehicles like my 31' RV.

Great park along the Animas River. Usually quiet and peaceful. Water craft launch point. This park sits at the northern terminus of the River Trail (which is awesome). Bathrooms available, picnic tables, beach area, plenty of parking.

The Oxbow preserve path is 1 mile, parts along the Animas River and beautiful fields. Keep your eyes and ears open, you might see deer, hawks, eagles and maybe even a bear(I haven’t seen any but saw poop)! Spring, summer, and fall is super lush while you’ll need to break out your snowshoes in winter. Did I mention that it’s also adjacent to the local fav beach AND the multi-use path that’ll take you to downtown and beyond? Just go, you won’t be disappointed!

Today was a beautiful day for a nice bike ride on the trail and the set up at the park is perfect for launching off into the river. I'm looking forward to the days I will get to spend coming here to go tubing and SUP here 😀 Plenty of kayakers and people enjoying the day. Dog friendly, pets everywhere enjoying the water just as much as the owners. Ready for the Sun days Fun days!

Lots to do from taking a walk in the preserve or down the river walk, bicycle, swim, fish, play on the sand beach or my favorite stand up paddle boarding.

Great access to both the river and the Animas River Trail, it's dog-friendly until you get to the reserve and lots of places to explore around the beach. Also all new parking lot, bathrooms, and changing rooms.

Very pretty little loop trail w/views of the river and some benches "sprinkled" about. Some shade, some sun. No bikes or digs allowed.

Best place to put-in for river activities! You can drive up close to the water to unload, then go park in the lot. Be advised, the lot is small. Get there early to secure your parking spot. There are also restrooms near the parking lot as well. Pro tip... Park here and walk/ride/ebike into town and back along the Animas River Trail!

Sunrise to sunset, bears, herons, beavers, water foul & air borne hunters, plants, reptiles, full moons, dotted starry skies & nebulas, a preserve teeming with protected life... Posted restrictions. Leave no Trace.

We were looking for a place to get into the water on a hot day, and this was perfect. Restrooms right by the parking lot, changing rooms, nice paved paths, little inflatable-craft launch ramp, benches and picnic tables under big trees... The water was freezing and moving pretty fast in the middle of the river, but it was just right for playing at the edges.

Parking was very limited so we parked in an abandoned lot a little ways down the road. Some people parked along the street.

So relaxing just to sit on the beach and relax or walk in the water. Lots of people walking their dogs everywhere.

Great beach for kiddos to play on and calm waters compared to rest of river. Parking is a bit limited. Popular put in location for SUP, floating and rafting.
