Three Rivers Ortho and Burke and Bradley Ortho are exceptional groups. Very kind and respectful staff. The same for UPMC St Margarets. I can't say enough about this hospital. I only saw enthusiasm from the staff that attended to me. I travel 3 hours from central PA and I won't go anywhere else for joint replacement

I cannot possibly express all of my gratitude to this wonderful hospital and to all the wonderful people at St. Margaret's surgical department...and I do know good from bad in this area. More on that at the end of the review..but it's much more important to give credit to everyone else, not me:
I was given an appointment six weeks faster than the surgeons would give me elsewhere, then, even though my three conditions were not critical, I was
in the operating room three days later. Dr. Whelan was so focused on actually fixing me, unlike so many others I encountered in California, and all of his residents, all the admitting staff, all the pre-surgery employees, all the recovery room people...My goodness, what a chipper bunch they are!...all the nurses, physical therapists, custodians who kept my room sanitary, EVERYBODY...I actually believe St. Margaret's had twenty people making sure I would recover on day one...everyone was wonderful.
I don't only refer to likeability here, I refer to quality of care and the determination to make sure the patient makes a full recovery.
I happen to know quite a little bit about the world of surgery, as my Granddad was a doc, all my friends from high school became docs, and one of them became an anesthesiologist, which means he worked in surgeries every day. In addition, I was the caregiver for my Mom, and I was there when UC Medical Center in San Francisco ignored her pleas for medical assistance after her knee surgery, and it turned out she had a pulmonary embolism, and half of her heart was ruined. I was also always there when she had to penetrate Kaiser's voice recognition software to do anything, no matter what, and it NEVER works, and it's a full-time job for people her age to stave off death through that terrible provider.
So as far as I'm concerned, St. Margaret's is the standard by which all others should be judged. Thank you!
