Great off-leash area! Double gates at the entrance make it extra-secure. Separate areas for small and large dogs, plus available water and a trash can just outside the gate for poo bags and trash. People are usually pretty friendly here too, and there are trails and a small pond nearby so you can easily take your pup for a quick stroll before or after too.

My dog and I go most days. Pretty well maintained and nice community. Would be better if the police practice firing range wasn't so loud.

When we first moved to Pittsburgh, I was looking for a nice dog park close to our home. Highland is about a 20 minute drive, but worth it!
I love that everyone keeps a close eye on their dog and even watches out for each others dogs. We’ve not yet encountered any unfriendly dogs. Twice I saw that a dog wasn’t playing well with the other dogs and the owner took their dog home. I respect that they didn’t wait until a fight broke out to do that.
The play area is clean.
The people that go there are nice and I always end up finding someone to talk to! So it’s great for human socializing, too!

A couple of tree shaded benches here provide respite for human companions while our canine lords romp and ear-bite. The City is kind enough to heavily mulch this yard annually, which helps to keep good boi from getting too muddy. There is also a running water supply in warm weather by the gate. Ample parking. A Port-a-John is stationed nearby. This OLEA has separate small dog and other dogs areas.

Small dog area and large dog area available. Water fountains close by for you and the dog.

I like this park. The Humans are nice too. It does get muddy.

Nice big open area for dogs to run around. It was nice that they also had a small dog designated area. Easy to find parking, clean. Would recommend.

Best place to walk your dog or even take a walk yourself

Large area for both small dogs and large dogs separated by a fence. Well maintained with level and slightly hilly terrain. Dispenser available for collection bags as well as trash receptacles to deposit the bags into. Directly across from the volleyball courts swimming area. There is a nice play area for children if they would like to play while you're exercising your dog. That play area also has a shelter. An outdoor restroom has been placed at the site as well for human use 😊

The entrance is just a few feet away from on-street parking, and the bench inside the off leash area is within a few feet of the entrance/ exit gate.

Love the shade trees within and along the perimeter of the off leash area, and the wood chip ground cover that minimizes mud on Pittsburgh's many rainy days.

Heads up: this off leash area is unlit at night and does not get illuminated by the nearby street lights or ambient light from the city, unlike for example parts of Blue Slide Park (Frick Park, adjacent to Beechwood Blvd in Squirrel Hill).

Great dog park. It’s very wide open, spacious and clean. Can be a bit muddy sometimes so just be prepared. Most people (and their dogs) are great! Just be sure to keep an eye out for the occasional bad dog (and owner!).

Recently had to leave because of a white Husky (I think named Tiburon) that wouldn’t stop biting my puppy but that happens. In the many other times I’ve been here though I’ve never had a problem!

Great place to let the dogs roam! Two separate areas one for smaller dogs. It’s Pittsburgh Police firing range on Washington Blvd that’s heard. I don’t mind it and neither to the dogs I’ve observed. It makes me feel safe. Most firing practice is at dusk and dawn, plan your visit. The pooches love the place!

This off leash exercise area is great. It's really large, the grass is in good condition and there are some toys scattered about so if you forget your you can still make sure your dog gets tired. This is the only dog park in the city I've been to that you can throw the ball as hard as you can and not worry about it going outside the fence.

I love this dog park. Always so many dogs for my pup to play with. And they have poop bags and garbage cans so conveniently placed. Plus the woodchips are great for the areas where grass is gone. Makes for a much less messy playtime. Highly recommend.

I go here at night and it is a huge area for my dog to fetch. I only go at night or very early morning when no one else is around. Had a bad experience once with a woman and emotional dog in which she got upset my dog sniffed her dogs but than began playfully chasing her dog. People who go here need to realize that dogs get physical and are not humans, they're dogs. They're gonna jump on each other, sniff butts, pee where they please, that's why I go up at night when I don't have to worry about some of these goofy owners. I did meet a lot of great owners and dogs.

Amazing dog park just what Highland Park needed. It can get pretty muddy in the spring but lots of trails to walk if it's to muddy for the park. Built in water fountain really makes all the difference in the summer. Only complaint is when folks bring small dogs on the large dog side

Favorite dog park in Pgh area. Nearly 2 football fields atop a higher grounded area with scenic views. Park often treated with wood chips to mitigate mud pits. No water however poopy bags provided. Big and small dog areas. Easy parking and very close to fenced in area unlike Frick

This dog park is great. Lots of wood chips keep the mud to a minimum. Be careful though for dogs that aren’t being watched by their owners or dogs where the owners don’t have good control over them

My dog loves visiting. Most times it is very active and friendly. I have seen a few dog fights and there have been unaltered dogs in the park almost every visit which is probably the cause of most of the fights.

Nice big, relaxed off leash are. I love that you can drive up to this one! I like the Frick park one too, but it can be dicy if the weather is bad or you are tight on time because of the walk back to it. They also have a water fountain just outside this park, but they just turn it on for Summer/fall.
