Losing a loved one is very difficult, there is a lot to do and process, especially if you don't live in Pittsburgh. Ralph Schugar Funeral Home (Sharon Brody and her team) is the absolute best! They went above and beyond being helpful, kind, caring,...doing everything they could to make sure every detail was taken care. Quite honestly this was the best quality of service I have ever experienced. I can't thank you enough Sharon and team, from the bottom of my heart!

My most recent experience with Ralph Schugar was last week, when we buried my mother, Faye Fischman. She had purchased a pre-need plan many years ago, and Schugar had previously handled the funerals of other family members including my father and my brother Ron.

From the moment we let them know that she had died, they were kind, helpful, organized, and efficient. They arranged for her body to be picked up from her assisted living in Maryland and transported back to Pittsburgh the next day. They helped us write the obituary and placed it in the local papers.

On the day of the funeral, they made sure the family had everything we needed, including an emotional support dog. At graveside, they coordinated with the Homewood Cemetery staff to make sure we had time to do the mitzvah of shoveling earth to cover Mom's coffin completely. For shiva, they supplied low chairs, siddurim, kippot, and memorial candles, and picked them up afterwards.

The death of a loved one can only be a trying experience, no matter what, but the Ryave family and Ralph Schugar Funeral Home do their best to make the logistics easy so the family can focus on what is important: grieving and remembering. We are grateful.

Sharon Brody and Ralph Schugar Funeral Home were absolutely amazing during my families difficult times. They are professional, caring , knowledgeable and go above and beyond the call of duty. It's so nice to see the wonderful people that still exist in our world today. I highly recommend them. Managing a funeral during Covid is not easy and Ralph Schugar staff and Sharon Brody were beyond our expectations. They were caring, helpful and treated my family with respect and gave us welcome advise when we needed it. From start to finish, they patiently walked us through the process and helped us make the best choice for our family even arranging for a special viewing for the grandchildren to say goodbye to their beloved Papa . My mom did not want to split up my five siblings and wanted us all with her so they arranged for a stretch limo. The cemetery had issues with the actual grave site and they help navigate so that my mother and siblings were satisfied, we had a grave side service and they arranged for chairs for all of the older attendees and a tent. They even assisted with live streaming so that out of town guests could join us. My oldest brother had many many demands and required some extra attention and somehow Rose on the Schugar team was his personal aid and made him feel heard and got him what he needed quickly. We had one day to pull together a service, arrangements and shivas and they helped to get it all done. Thank you for helping us while we were at wits end during one of the worst times in our lives. I highly recommend.

Multiple family funerals, and I have never met such an attentive, caring staff. They all make you at ease during your difficult process. You never feel rushed or ignored. I can't say enough nice things about this place, but thank you for your kindness.

My experience with Rose, of Ralph Schugar, was excellent. She was very professional without being cold, very understanding and very easy to work with. They performed as expected, were quick and responsive. I used them for a cremation and was very satisfied.

Warm and welcoming experience for two family funerals. Flexible and accommodating.

I have been wanting to leave a review for 6 years. My beloved husband died in his sleep without warning. I woke up, suddenly, a widow.
After being a widow for less than 2 hours, I was sent to this funeral home. There was no compassion. I was given a tour of all the choices for the funeral without any other adult there. I was clearly in shock. Not once did someone offer me water, or say maybe you should go home and rest and come back with someone with youto help make big decisions.. I signed a very expensive funeral document without any consideration that I may not know what my finances were yet.
After signing a contract, I was then coldly handed a piece of paper and told to write my husband's obituary.
This is a business without a sense of compassion or warmth. It remains part of the trauma I recall on the worst day of my life.

I set a morning appointment for Aug 28.18 when I arrived the man watering the plants told me I couldn't park in the lot. I explained we had appointment and was headed to the office. We were then aproched by a man in a suit from the side door. He started the conversation by telling us rudly that we couldn't park in the lot either. I expressed to him that we had an appointment. At this point he became friendly. But I had lost any interest in any service and merchandise they have to offer. They came highly recommended by a Pittsburgh green cemetery, but I highly recommend that they be removed. If you are planning a green burial shop around. This place is not ready for funky free thinkers that don't fit their mold of customers.

VERY RACIST. I WANTED TO TALK TO THE FAMILY OF ONE OF THE VICTIMS SHE HELD HER ARMS UP AND CALLED FOR A POLICE OFFICER. AND ALL I WANTED TO DO WAS GIVE A CARD TO THE FAMILY AND TELL THE RABBI MY PRAYERS WERE WITH HIM. HE WASN'T NO BETTER EITHER. IF I WAS JEWISH I WOULDNT LET MY FAMILY GO THERE. RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL. I GUESS THATS WHAT U PORTRAY INSTEAD OF LOVE AND PEACE. GOD BLESS ANYWAYS. VERY RUDE HOW U HAVE TREATED PPL OF MY ETHNICITY.SMH.
