This was a really cute little place and we were very happy with our stay here. It was very clean, front desk staff were very nice, and I loved how nice and quiet it was despite being in the city. The garden in the center is a beautiful touch. Being a family of 6 (2 adults and 4 children) that travels frequently it gets difficult and obnoxious trying to squeeze all of us into a standard hotel room. Spending the night here was a real treat. I just wish we could have stayed longer.

This is an excellent place to stay. As soon as we arrived we were upgraded to a 2 bedroom suite. The rooms are extremely spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked with pans, plates, utensils, knives, a coffeemaker, and more. The rooms are nicely furnished with a very pleasing color scheme. The staff is extremely welcoming and friendly. They have cookies in the front and provided us with welcome bag containing some food for breakfast next morning and called shortly after checking in to see how we were doing. When I had a request they were very helpful and accommodating. The only downside to this place would be the extremely unstable water temperature while showering but it wasn't a huge deal in the grand scheme of things. They also offer an excellent complimentary shuttle service within 3 miles, and the place itself is in a great location. If you're staying in this part of Pittsburgh... Definitely stay at the Shadyside Inn!

Beautiful and clean. They do need handles in the bathtub area for handicap and elderly. The tubs are not slip resistant either. (Handles are available, I didn't know. You have to request them) I would have preferred 1st floor. The cleanliness and decor were excellent. Shuttle driver Cookie was great. This particular hotel has several different building locations. We were in building N. The young lady that helped us check in was very nice. We were late for our check in time but it was OK. Housekeeping Joy was very thorough and pleasant. Everyone we dealt with here were very friendly and pleasant. It's more like an apartment than a hotel room. I loved it! I would live here if I could afford to. I will definitely go back again.❤👍

Excellent! This is our second stay in just under a year. We have twin toddlers, and they've cheerfully accommodated all our needs/requests - actually moved some furniture for us before we arrived, to make room for the pack'n'play beds. Having an apartment layout, with separate rooms, is awesome - we can have them nap or go to bed early and not have to tiptoe around.
Be aware - these are typical older apartments of this area. (I went to college here; I'm familiar with the area.) The kitchens and bathrooms are small. There is parking, but it does fill up. But these are hardly big enough issues to downgrade for. And the service and helpfulness more than make up for them. This may not be the perfect hotel for everyone, but they are absolutely worth checking out.

Room was nice, spacious, and most importantly clean. Think small apartment when picturing the room. In nice neighborhood. Didn't really deal with the front desk much so I can't really comment on service. Only somewhat negative thing I can think of is the water pressure in shower was poor. Overall a pleasant stay and definitely would recommend.

Cute suites with nicely updated interiors. Has a very modern feel in the suites, even though the building is old. Close to shopping and restaurants. Friendly and helpful staff and great amenities. Coffee pot and tea kettle in suite, but also coffee and hot water/tea bags available all day in the main floor lobby. Small gym and laundry room are nice features. Feels like you're staying in an apartment, not a hotel, which is nice for an extended stay or even just a weekend.

This hotel was excellent. I stayed with my husband on June 9th for two nights. It was like renting an old apartment that was remodeled. It's very clean, large, quiet and the free parking was awesome especially since you are in walking distance of Walnut Street where lots of great restaurants and bars can be found. It is also in walking distance of the hospital. The neighborhood felt very safe and it was quiet.

I appreciated the amenities bag which included water, instant oatmeal, peanut butter crackers, etc. They also had a nice supply of toiletry items.

If I had to complain about anything, I would suggest a larger street sign for the building we stayed in on S. Nagley and some upgraded pillows. They were not comfortable at all.
Other than that, it was an excellent stay! I hope you found this review helpful!

This was an excellent place to stay with young kids. We needed a suite with a spare room so our oldest son could sleep without the youngest waking him up. This place was by far the best we had found in quality (mainly cleanliness) and price. Being pet friendly was a big plus as well. Next time we are in the area we will be staying here again!

Better than ANY chain hotel. Great location. Extremely fair pricing. Kind staff especially driver Pat and McKenzie. They provided us with a goody bag which was a nice addition. The rooms were modern and spacious. Loved the kitchen with a stove, microwave and full refrigerator. Just like 5 star hotel.

Had a great stay here. Rented the 2 bedroom suite and was shocked by all the amenities that were included for the price. It is unique to have the design of a fully furnished apartment when it comes to hotel rooms. The sheek design gave the appearance of staying in a hotel that would easily cost hundreds more. We also enjoyed the private balcony. We live in the Pittsburgh area, and generally do not stay in hotels so close to home. But this was a great place to take some guest who were visiting the area.

Clean, large rooms, excellent customer service. The front desk staff was friendly and responsive to all questions. The bed was firm and the room was quiet. Thank goodness for the shuttle, which took us where we needed to go! A great experience.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Lots of privacy entering and exiting our suite. Everyone was eager to help make our stay a good one. We were granted very early check in and our check out was also extended for our convenience. Fast room service. Great part of town, very convenient. Will be staying here again.

This is one of my favorite hotels ever (and I've stayed at places like the Four Seasons before)!

Essentially, the place consists of a number of apartment buildings that have been converted into the hotel. So, what you get is a complete one or two bedroom apartment. Most notably, this includes a full kitchen.

The staff is extremely helpful, and they offer a free shuttle service to nearby locations. On my first stay there, they drove me to a nearby grocery store and then picked me up when I'd finished shopping. This let me stock the kitchen and make my own food for the remainder of my stay.

And this is why I love the place: I travel enough that going out to eat every single day for every single meeting is tiring. Just being able to make my own simple dinner is nice and relaxing.

To address some of the other reviews, no place is perfect. Pittsburgh is very hilly and there are therefore steps everywhere. But when I've had lots of luggage, the staff volunteered to help me move it. And, no, the walls are not glass-and-steel like a modern fancy hotel, but rather plaster like you'd find in an average apartment. For me, this is a positive: I want to relax in my hotel room, and glass-and-steel might be shiny but it hardly feels like home.

And, therefore, I come back here again and again.

While the inn is certainly dated, the location and price are excellent for an extended stay hotel. There accommodations are nice and the staff is super friendly and helpful.

One incident that particularly pleased me during our extended stay was when the power went out for two days due to a severe windstorm. They put us up in another room in a building with power (so we effectively had two rooms) free of charge. They didn't have to do that, but it made those two days much more pleasant.

A full apartment for the price of a hotel room. Here for a week with my wife and two kids, and we are very comfortable. Clean and modern-ish. Love not listening to neighbors at bedtime. Convenient to everything, tons of shopping and dining nearby. Parking is not ideal, but its Shadyside. will certainly return

This was my first time at Shadyside Inn but I would absolutely stay again. At check-in I was handed a welcome bag with snacks and juices. When I arrived to my suite it was considerably larger than I'd anticipated, especially since I'd been upgraded to a 2 bedroom unit complomentarily. Staff was exceptionally polite and helpful at suggesting dinner options nearby. I was in building "A" (same building as front desk) and found easy parking out back. Later at night this parking lot was full but there was an additional free overflow parking lot on the other side of Fifth which was a short walk away.

Better than ANY chain hotel. Great location. Extremely fair pricing. I don't know which was more impressive. The amazingly warm, friendly and sincere staff. Or the beautiful and spacious rooms. I am personally in the hotel business. Most hotel rooms are around 325 sf. This was over 650. I traveled with my two (teenage) kids and we all had enough space to enjoy the rooms without being crowded. I checked the nooks and crannies and everything was immaculate. I will never again stay anywhere else when in Pittsburgh.

Amazing hotel! The service was fantastic here. Staff was kind, the maids came and did a good job cleaning, and everything was quiet. Good amount of parking spaces in the back. When you check in, you recieve a bag of snacks and helpful items to guide you around Pittsburgh.

The Shadyside Inn was perfect for a quick stay with friends. The apartment we booked was a great amount of space for 5 people and had everything we needed. The concierge was helpful and very accommodating. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone planning to stay around Shadyside. Thank you for the wonderful experience!

This was my first time staying at this hotel, and I am glad I did. My parents, wife and I stayed in a two bedroom suite. As someone who travels a lot for work and who has stayed in hotels all over the world, this was one of the best bang for your buck hotels I have seen. The staff was friendly and helpful and the room was clean and perfect for a family to stay and hang out it. I think you would be hard pressed to find another hotel in Pittsburgh with rooms as large and nice for even close to the same price. I would absolutely stay again. If I had one complaint it would be the brightness of the outlets in the rooms. However, they can be covered.
