My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our stay here. The owners and workers were all incredibly nice and friendly. The game room and lobby were also very nice. They have a super cool scrabble board and chess set. The location is perfect, it’s beautiful and quiet. The free coffee was also superb ❤

White Horse Inn is a total win! I have stayed there many times this year and every time, there is something new and improved! I love the digital check in when I drive up late on a Friday. No hassle! The coffee set up in the common area has multiple tables to eat take out. Their shared fridge is a great option for storing picnic supplies and drinks! There is lots of common spaces to work and think! The owners are visionaries for modern lodging!

White Horse Lodge is a reliably great place to stay in the Mad River Valley. Just a few yards from Glen Ellen / Mt Ellen / Sugarbush North. The room was slightly aged but very clean and well maintained. The common lounge and game areas are modern, very comfortable and a great place to read, play or hang out. In the summer the pond side fire pit and adk chairs are a great place to enjoy your morning coffee. Thanks White Horse!

Overall a great option if you're going to Sugarbush. It's minutes away from Mt. Ellen and an easy drive to Lincoln. For the price, the location can't be beat. There's also an area to put skis and boots to dry out which was nice.

The owners were very communicative and check in/out was super easy. At the front desk there's an assortment of cheap snacks which was nice, and a great complimentary coffee and tea area.

The commons spaces were really nice and cozy. There were only two of us but I think the lodge would be great for larger groups staying across a few rooms.

A few small things that didn't bother us but might concern other travelers:
- The rooms are a bit small and there wasn't a dresser. This was fine but if we were staying more than a weekend it might have been more annoying to organize our belongings.
- Apparently this lodge used to serve breakfast but no longer does. I wish they would bring this back at least during peak season and we would book it every time we are in the area.
- Would have been nice to have conditioner and not just shampoo in the showers.

Great place to stay for a ski trip. The amenities were a nice addition. Pool table, shuffleboard, nice lounge, etc. Only downside was having to pay $2 to play at the pool table but it was worth it. There's a shared fridge to store food that had plenty of space. Rooms were clean and noise wasn't bad.

Location could not be better if skiing/snowboarding at Sugarbush. Very clean and cozy lodge. We really appreciated the communal spaces like the dining room, game room, and library. Beds were SO comfortable that I wish we were staying more than two nights. The best thing you could ask for before a day on the slopes is a good night’s rest. Also it was notably quiet… absolutely lovely stay!! Cannot recommend enough.

I was dreaming of landing a late season powder day when I found myself in the comfort of the White Horse Lodge. The location is just across the street from the access road to Mount Ellen. The room was clean and quiet and the bed was super comfy! I spent some time in the downstairs lodge sitting by the gas fire after enjoying a stellar powder day on Mount Ellen ⛰
Tremendous value! Highly recommend🏂⛄❄

I think most reviewers here will be skiers and I could tell it would be a lovely place for that, particularly if you are interested in the local ski areas.

I, however, was an eclipse tourist (sorry Vermonters) so my experience is probably not super relevant (until 2079!). That said, it was exactly as advertised and most importantly, even though I booked way in advance, I did not get a "sorry we are cancelling your reservation unless you want to pay a bunch more" email like a lot of people got from the bigger hotels and closer to Burlington. So 5 stars for that too.

I do also think this is a pretty cool place in general that I would consider again. The drive along Rt. 17 is really pretty and the proximity to Waitsfield and Waterbury is a plus.

I will mention for sensitive or light sleepers I would recommend asking for a top floor room as I did hear quite a bit of what my upstairs neighbors were doing. Everyone was asleep by 10/1030 so not a big deal but I know this kind of thing does really bother some people.

Dana and Mike and Dana and Zan were the most incredible hosts. So friendly and accommodating! Our ski group had the most incredible time using the lodge. Fireplace was cozy and warm and the game room was perfect for our after skiing fun! Rooms were clean and the service was top rate!! Highly recommend the White Horse!!

Clean, comfortable and reasonably priced. Great location, minutes from Mount Ellen. The lodge is well equipped. Nice kitchen area, great games area, and cozy den.
Although the lodge is not staffed full time, communication with the owners was never an issue. Thanks for having us,...would stay here again.

Great place to stay in one of our favorite areas of Vermont. Simple check in, nice rooms. The real gem is the common spaces. Library with a fireplace and board games, coffee area, and game room are all great perks. Would stay again for sure.

Excellent value. My stay was mid-week and the price was better than most other motels/lodges in the area. The room was a good size, had a comfortable bed, and was a clean/comfortable environment. The bathroom was clean and a good size. My only contact with staff was when I checked in; the young woman was very pleasant. The location is excellent; 5 minutes to restaurants and less than 10 minutes to the Sugarbush base area. I highly recommend White Horse Lodge.

Stayed for a ski vacation at the White Horse this past week, 2/28/24-03/01/24. First, as a high-level assessment, this place is just awesome, could not have asked for more, and beyond expectation. We arrived for 4pm check in and were sent excellent messaging prior to arrival regarding room number, door code and an app that provided any information related to the lodge and area to save and reference.
Upon arrival, we walked in, and I immediately took off my shoes, it just felt homey and comfortable. When you enter there is a place to leave boots, shoes if you choose and then there is a room right there for skies, ski boots, a couple of boot dryers.
There is a snack area if you want a quick pick me up with some essentials you may have forgotten, paid for on the honor system and very cheap.
There is a room to relax, I referred to as the library, with huge leather couches, a fireplace, books, chess, just super comfortable.
We went to our room, easy to locate based on signage and found it to be clean, and everything we needed. You can hang clothes, there are shelves, a chair and a super comfortable bed (buying one of those comfy mattress tops after sleeping on it). The bathroom had all we needed, hairdryer, bath wash and shampoo. Oh, and the room had YOUTUBE TV...always wondered what it was about so great to give it a try.
Now let's talk about the kitchen and dining area. They were a dining area with several tables and chairs. We had been traveling skiing and brought meatloaf/lasagna so were able to warm it up in the provided microwave, and make our salads with the plates, and silverware provided. There is a communal fridge, just mark your name and room number on your stuff, it is a huge fridge with freezer, so no worries about space. There is a sink there as well to clean your dishes if you bring your own.
The coffee/tea bar...there is coffee and tea always available, several selections, mugs, to go cups with lids if you want to take to the mountain. There is a electric tea kettle as well for tea. Off the dining area is a game room that is just a cozy and fun. Pool, ski ball, poker table with chips, stand up tables with chairs and a couch.
Parking is right there, near entry door, no issues with parking and well plowed..
I cannot say enough about this place, 3 minutes from Mt. Ellen, short drive to Lincoln peak. It was super clean, and welcoming.
There is an innkeeper we ran into one morning and she was just so engaging, we chatted and kidded with her a bit while making coffee.
The owners have other lodges in the Mad River which we have looked up as without a doubt, we will return and ensure it is at one of these lodges.

We stayed at White Horse for our anniversary trip this year and we loved it! It was so nice to be provided with an app before we arrived to know where to eat and know the ins and outs of the inn and the surrounding area. We also loved the game room, the self serve coffee bar, and the fact that there were streaming services on the tv instead of cable tv with commercials! We also liked the texting system- when we needed something we sent a text and someone was at the door within a minute or two:). We would definitely stay here again!

We had a wonderful time at the White Horse Lodge! Dana went above and beyond to assist us with the event of the year- the solar eclipse in totalalty. No one wants to miss it! She opened the deck and coordinated with the powers that be to have the outside lights shut off for us during totality so all guests could view this momentous event.

The White Horse was a perfect choice for our group ski/board weekend! Hosts Dana and Michael were super friendly, helpful and accommodating, going above and beyond expectations. The game room was a huge hit with the group, and the quite library w fireplace was a refuge.

The place was so cute! They just remodeled. It was very clean. The downstairs kitchen/ club house area was a great hangout spot. I like how they had quiet hours past 9pm- that way I could sleep. The place was very cozy homey feeling, Owners were so nice. The tea and honey were very good!

Easy check in and check out. Great place for a large family because of game room and fireplace room. Very clean and well maintained. Refrigerator, microwave, coffee and ice at your disposal. Will stay at White Horse every time we ski at Sugarbush
