Tamarind Savoring India Pittsburgh

I had a great buffet style lunch meal at Tamarind Savoring India in Scott today. They had 9 different vegetarian dishes, 5 meat dishes, 4 desserts, 3 appetizers and fresh fruit too. Also, the buffet includes all you can eat and all you can drink mango lassi and chai. I have been to several other Indian buffets in Pittsburgh, Boston and Seattle and this is my favorite thus far. A friend from work, who was born and raised in India, recommended it and he was spot on. About 2/3 of the clientele were from India, which was a great sign that authentic food was being served. The food had so much flavor and I am going back tomorrow (Sunday), when I heard they’ll have many different items including goat biryani. And last but not least, Yushefa and John checked with me several times, cleared the plates promptly and were super friendly. It was also great to see Chef Sashin checking in on the food and regularly refilling the food at the buffet. Pictures are below. Thank you for an amazing and full of flavor food experience!

We ordered special Andhra chicken special half tray biryani for small party. It was awesome taste and quality. Chef is very good and understands our needs.

We visited this restaurant in the month of May 2023. The food was absolutely amazing!!! We ordered idly, dosa, methu vada, veg kothu paratha, cut mirchi and mutton soup. Each item was freshly made and tasted delicious! Our server, John was welcoming, polite and super helpful. We visited along with our 10 month old baby and he made our experience a great one. This Indian restaurant is a ‘must visit’ place.

Last Thursday, I visited Tamarind restaurant and decided to try the appetizers along with the dosa night specials. I was pleasantly surprised to notice a significant enhancement in both the taste and service. I sampled nearly every variety of dosa available, finding each to be delicious and outstanding. My son opted for the Tandoori chicken and thoroughly enjoyed it. The recent change in management has clearly made a positive impact, making this restaurant my go-to choice for Indian cuisine.

The buffet had good spread of both vegetarian and non vegetarian. The taste and quality of food were great. I have been to tamarind many times before. But dint had good experience. But I sense that offlate they have improved a lot in terms of quality of food,service and the they are very approachable. Thanks for delicious food. Looking forward for more in future

Been here for 2 times and had best experience in each visit. Today we tried tandoori fish and it’s perfect. We ate Hyderabad chicken dum biryani couple of times and it was perfectly blended with spices and tasteful. Prices are average and there is plenty parking space. Wheel chair accessible too.

Third visit review: tried pompret fish.. it was just yum and yum.. must try whenever you are at this place. Service was on point and atmosphere was great too..food 5 service 5 atmosphere 5…..

We have only ordered from here twice but the food was delicious both times. The first time we ordered online and the food took a little longer than expected but the next time we called and it was ready right away. The portions for the price are very fair and there a tons delicious choices! I can’t wait to order it again.

Great southern Indian spot! Staff was excellent as was the food. The staff met all of our spice-level requests, not holding back as some places do. Prices were great. This was my first time trying dosa and it was amazing. We will definitely be revisiting

The food was amazing, with a good price and great portions. The service was even better than the food, so kind and generous creating an amazing atmosphere. This is a place to remember and to always come back to.

Parking lot was pretty narrow but the restaurant was fantastic. Very delicious food with great prices. Will definitely come again! I ordered the Lamb Biryani and Mango Lassi which were both favorites.

Best Indian restaurant in Greentree hands down. The food and service was top notch. A special mention to Sonia. She was kind, attentive and took care of us anywhere. 10/10 would recommend.

Recently tried their Bahubali platter and it was awesome. More than enough quantity for a family of 4. Soups, 4 starters 3 type of briyani and a desert. Definitely recommend for a weekend treat

I think indians are tough customers to please because most of us are used to our mother’s cooking.
So restaurants have hard time competing with our high standards but i think this place really stood out in terms of freshness and quality quantity

Bahubali Platter- Brilliant idea of combining best in class dishes in one single platter. An eye feast and delicious delight mixed together. Request tor adding Veg combo platter would please all patrons. Fish fry and Chicken 65 helped set the taste buds for Friday night fun followed by generous amount of Biryanis from all parts of south India. Like every hit movie has something to critic, Goat pieces were not well cooked but very soon compensated by Dum Biryani. Mutton soup and Salan complemented Biryani’s well. Overall the platter lived up to the hype and satisfied the cravings. BIG THANK you to the team who came up with the idea and looking forward for more innovative delicacies from Tamarind.

I had a very good experience in this place.

I had a chicken biryani, the dish was big and very delicious. It was a lil bit too spicy to my taste but the yogurt was really helping and refreshing.

The restaurant is clean and the staff is really friendly. The manager was really helpful in helping us understand the menu and recommend good dishes.

We tried chicken tikka masala which was really good, not very spicy, only had a tasty enjoyable kick.

The tandoori chicken was very tasteful perfect spicy level, but felt like the quantity was small.

The tandoori lamb chops and the mixed tandoori platters were very very good. Good quantities and perfect spices.
All are served with white basmati rice.

The nan was good, the garlic naan was my favorite.

As a desert, we had the gulab juman. It was warm with perfect sweetness. I really liked it myself

Just tried the buffet. So many vegetarian and non-veg choices! Really happy to have a great Indian place with authentic flavors in the South Hills. Have been every week and have always had a consistently delicious meal.

I stopped to get take out on Wednesday night and WOW was it amazing. The saag paneer was the perfect spice level, and the jasmine rice was so delicate and tasty. I also got an order of garlic naan and it was the best I have ever had. My friend Mike sent me and I’m happy he did. My new favorite and ONLY Indian spot to go to.

The food is awesome. Service needs to be more attentive. Waiter forgot sauce with an appetizer and gave us drinks without ice. We asked if they had ice, and another employee said they did, but I think the waiter was new, so I will give benefit of the doubt. I will go back.

I have eaten here for the past 10 years. As a vegetarian, their Chenna Masala and Gobi Manchurian is amazing.

The butter chicken and lamb saag is my girlfriend’s favorite.

The garlic naan and even something as simple as the basmati rice is just…made with love!

The atmosphere is similar to the neighborhood, quiet, clean, courteous, and welcoming.

Tamarind is a must try! You will not regret it!

We went there for Dosa night. We had Non-veg dosas. All the chicken stuffed dosas were delicious. The people who served there were very friendly and kind.
