This evening I called the non emergency number for NHTPD because a 2-3 day old fawn had been hit and killed. It was lying along a very busy road but also in the area of a school bus stop. While school is not in session, younger children frequent this path and area often and can visibly see from where they are. What made this situation more dire was the mother deer and her other young were standing up above watching as though they were going to cross. After determining I was not allowed to move the fawn I called many outlets to have the fawn moved I eventually was led to a pendott recording and then hung up on. It was getting dark and this road is a very dangerous road under birmal circumstances. So as a last ditch effort I called the NHTPD non emergency number. I honestly believed they would think I was naive, crazy, and just everything in between. However the person who answered my call was absolutely wonderful. He listened to me voice my concerns, and promptly said he would reach out to have the situation taken care of as soon as possible. I am beyond grateful for the courtesy that was shown even with this minor issue.

Needed to get rid of my late father's medication. I saw the disposal unit, but the office was otherwise dark and, what I thought, empty. It wasn't until someone else came in and spoke to the person behind the glass in a darkened room was I aware a "police officer" was there.

When I enquired what I could do with the liquid medication, he shrugged and asked if I wanted the official answer or the honest answer. The exchange felt more like from a bored cashier than someone serving the public.

I called the phone number that is published on Google, thinking it was a Nonemergent phone number to speak to an officer. It connected me to North Huntington dispatch. I explained to the dispatcher that I needed to speak to an officer for a non emergent situation. I apologize stating that I wasn't aware that the phone number that was published on Google was not a nonemergent phone number. And he yelled into the phone and said "all of our numbers are emergency numbers!" and hung up on me. I was not able to get any information on how to actually speak to someone. It was rude and disgusting. I needed to speak to someone about a relative who was arrested, and it's been well over 24 hours and I haven't been able to speak to that person or get any information because they have disgustingly rude people that work for them. I was also told by witnesses that my family members encounter with this Police Department and whatever officers were on the scene that day were abusive.

I can't speak to the actual police, but the dispatcher was one of the rudest people I have ever encountered. Not only was she rude from the moment she picked up, but she also hung up on me!!! This woman put me in tears, which, in my opinion is the last thing you need when you are already in a stressful situation.

Very unprofessional and the most unkind cops I’ve ever met NOR do they treat people with respect! They are supposed to “protect and serve” but they only care to see people in trouble and arrested without hearing other people out. They don’t care about anyone or anyone’s situation! You’re automatically wrong and they are right. They pick sides and don’t care about anything else; VERY VERY ONE SIDED. The 2 cops I’ve dealt with tonight think people getting in trouble is a joke while I witnessed them laughing and talking about all the many charges they want to charge someone with! It was honestly disgraceful. I hope my child never has to deal with people like these 2 men. This is why our society is so bad because we have patrolmen like them who care only about getting non-criminals in trouble for bare minimal things when they should be worried about the actual hard criminals out here!

I have to concur, the dispatcher has a real issue with speaking to people. The job is public safety, that means she will need to speak to the, wait for it, PUBLIC!
