St. Benedict the Moor Parish

Going to church with my mom is the best feeling to have especially when a church will make you feel at home. Beautiful warm spirits are there that welcome you in.

Catholics who want to experience the liturgy through fresh eyes should visit St. Benedict the Moor. This is a personal parish for Black Catholics, meaning that the liturgical celebration is uniquely presented through African American culture, but everyone is welcome.

The hope is that faith formation will increasingly speak with authenticity to the wide variety of cultures and experiences within African American communities through faith and reason so that Black Americans can finally recognize themselves in the incarnational theology that the Church teaches. This should enliven the Catholic faith in African American households and neighborhoods that the Church had not historically evangelized.

Of course, St Benedict the Moor is not exclusively for Black Catholics, nor do all Black Catholics in the Diocese of Pittsburgh call this parish their "home." The church is open to all who want to join the St. Benedict parish family and participate in its Spirit-filled liturgy.

There is a sweet Spirit in this place. Welcoming, giving and dedicated to the Liturgy and Sacraments. A true Parish family that cares for all.
