Mom Chaffe's Cellarette

Nothing new here for those that have dined at Mom Chafee's. For those that haven't - small, intimate, feeling like your in somebody's home dining room kind of place. Food served fresh and hot. Nice accompanying salad with entrees. Their daily specials are always very nice and set apart from their menu, e.g. seafood lasagna, lamb Bolognese, crab cakes, etc.

Super cozy. Small menu for the great food. Salad was normal not as good. But the pasta was AMAZING! Get that special bruschetta on their garlic bread! Omg! Also calamari was good - great breading not oily and not overly fried. Perfect balance!

A little old school slice of Italian American culture. Good wine selection, nice rotating specials, and a gravy that will have you wipe the plate with your bread. Dimly lit, basement like atmosphere. My type of joint!

Incredible in every way. Went there for the first time last night and it is now one of my favorite restaurants. A+++

Terrific atmosphere and friendly staff make this a great place to enjoy a meal. The atmosphere is intimate and charming, and the staff are attentive and accommodating. The food is outstanding, a real level up (or 2) of your typical Italian fare. We had the veal and the shrimp and scallops on this night. Both were superb. Parking is what it is as it's street parking but in no way brings this place down. Don't forget to ask about the specials and reservations are absolutely recommended.

I recently visited Mom Chaffe's Cellarette and was impressed by my experience. The cozy hole-in-the-wall spot has a warm and inviting atmosphere. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I started off with an Aperol Spritz and was delighted by the refreshing taste. The Bruschetta special was a standout dish, with fresh garlic bread topped with onions, tomatoes, and a light and fresh pesto sauce. The Eggplant Parmesan was some of the best I've ever had, the eggplant was perfectly cooked, crunchy and not soggy at all. The sauce was a little sweet for my liking, but the garlic bread helped balance it out. Overall, it was a lovely experience and I would rate it a 10/10. I highly recommend Mom Chaffe's Cellarette for anyone looking for a great meal and a great atmosphere.

A+...they have a small menue which allows them to perfect what they have. Great food!

Mom Chaffe's has the best Italian food in the area, hands down. Everything I've ever eaten from here has been amazing. Always impressed. Don't forget to save room for dessert! I'm not usually a dessert person, but their desserts are on another level.

West Reading’s best-kept secret! Surprising, old world European-style restaurant with mood lighting and low ceilings, ever-changing top-class dishes, and excellent service. Ask for seating in the far back for more intimacy. Reservations are highly recommended. Went for early seating on a Wednesday night and it was packed by the time I left! Enjoy!

The best old school authentic Italian restaurant in the Reading area & Berks county in PA. My GrandParents, parents and my family have been loyal patrons since the late 1930(s) during the depression. Everything about this place is old charm & class, and they should receive a Michelin star for excellence. An act far beyond their competition! Thank You.

Wonderful small and artsy restaurant! I give 3 stars in regards to the atmosphere for two reasons...1) because it is a small restaurant, restaurant goers are packed in like sardines and so the volume level is quite high making it challenging to have a relaxed conversation. 2) I was shocked at this quality restaurant that waiters and waitresses were bottle slamming throughout the evening. Bottle slamming is when a wine or beer bottle is dropped or tossed into a recycle bin with other glass bottles. The sound produced is loud and obnoxious, disrupting your pleasant dining experience. You expect bottle slamming at a hole-in-the-wall, low-end bar not at a place however like Mom Chaffe's.

My girlfriend and I came here for our anniversary which was also NYE. We loved it so much we came back for a regular dinner. Both times were great!

AMBIANCE: This is such a cute and quaint place that makes you feel at home immediately. The restaurant is in the basement of a townhome building so the ceilings are a bit low. It’s dimly lit making it very romantic. The servers are very friendly and are always happy to tell you what the specials are.

FOOD: The food here is definitely traditional Italian grandma cooked food. The tomato sauce is a bit sweet to us but that’s a personal thing. The ravioli is filled with delicious cheese that you get in every bite. The lasagna is a large portion that you can save for later, a very hearty place.

DESSERT: I needed a separate section for this. The cheesecake is to die for! The best cheesecake I’ve ever had! We’ve only tried the original which is served with strawberries. Each time we’ve had it, it melted in our mouths and we savored every bite. Love it!

We look forward to visiting this place again. The pricing is up there so it wouldn’t be our weekly visit but every now and then when we want to treat ourselves, this would be a top contender of places to go.

Mom Chaffe’s is definitely one of the best places that serves Italian in the area, and is hands down the most authentic Italian restaurant in the area.
The food is absolutely phenomenal (especially the sauce), the staff is extremely friendly, and the atmosphere is like nothing else you’ll experience anywhere else near by!
Also, I HIGHLY recommend the tiramisu!

Delicious Italian food and personable wait staff. Great local restaurant. Cozy, quaint dining room. Menu prices of some items can be pricey but the food is high quality and filling. I have been twice now and had a great experience each time.

I've lived near this restaurant my entire life and yet this was my 1st time eating there. DELICIOUS!

Came with a party of 6 to celebrate an anniversary and birthday - we were highly impressed. The food and atmosphere is exceptional. As a vegetarian, my options were a bit limited but I was blown away by the eggplant parmesan with linguine! Leonardo was an excellent waiter - very good service and funny as well! Both lasagnas ordered were the group favorite dishes, also the crab ravioli received glowing reviews.

Leon was our server/bartender. He was absolutely amazing and we couldn’t have asked for better. Great service, great food, we’re definitely coming back and recommending this to our friends!

Great atmosphere that transports you to the old world. Our waitress was fantastic and attentive, drinks were wonderful, and the food was fantastic.
