Solstice Hotel, Ascend Hotel Collection

Located off the toll road in Erie PA, this hotel was a blessing to me. Traveling home alone from Vermont to Indiana, I found every hotel to be 230-260 dollars a night. I was just about to give up when I came to Solstice. There were a man and woman at the desk both looked to be from India maybe. I had asked if they had any rooms and the gentleman replied he had a few and they were 239 for the night. I sighed heavily and asked if he had anything cheaper he started to say no when the lady bumped him with her elbow and said something to him in their language. At that point the man asked me what my budget was and I told him 150-160. The woman bumped him again and he said I can give you this room for 160 plus taxes at which point the lady bumped him again and said something to him again in their language. He then said “I mean I can give it to you for 160 everything included”.
I felt I was being watched over and was very happy to have a place to rest.

The rooms were clean, the appliances worked well, the AC worked great, bathroom was super clean. The door locked and felt secure. I had zero complaints about this room.
The only suggestion I would make is the breakfast. The room came with a complimentary breakfast which was premade breakfast sandwiches ( Jimmy Dean) cereal juice and some fruit offerings. Maybe it would be better if they served a hot breakfast like some scrambled eggs and hash browns or something like that. I skipped the breakfast and went to the nearby gas station filled up my tank and got a fresh warm breakfast pizza.
I feel like the lady at the counter knew I was alone tired and it was getting dark and she took it upon herself to make sure I had a safe place to rest for the night. I will never forget this interaction, the hotel or the lovely woman behind the counter.

This was my first time staying here. I arrived without a reservation. The front desk worker was very friendly and helpful. My room on the second floor was very clean and comfortable. It had a mini fridge and microwave, both of which were clean and worked as expected. The parking lot was packed, but it was very quiet inside the room. I booked a second night because it was so nice.

The free continental breakfast was good - juice, cereal, bagels you can toast if you want, fresh apples and bananas, yogurt. I really liked that they had individually packaged coffee cakes and breakfast sandwiches. I knew nobody else had touched it, and it was easy to microwave (either in the breakfast room or in my guest room), so it was hot right when I wanted it. I will stay there again.

Great location - close to 90, across the street from Splash Lagoon, parking lot connected to a Country Fair gas station so it's easy to refuel and you can grab a snack without driving anywhere.

Desk attendant was extremely helpful, we had booked last minute on a long road trip and accidentally scheduled for the following night. He was quick to reassure us and adjust our booking, for which I'm very thankful. The room had a little damage (bathroom door was sliding/barn door style and was off the track) but the bathroom itself was very nice and everything was very clean. This place was both the cheapest AND nicest place we stayed on our trip, highly reccommend, absolutely worth the money.

Room was great and staff was even better desk attendant Alex was super helpful and greated us everytime we came in and owner was amazing too. Will definitely be back!!!! If I had any complaint it was room could have been cleaned a little better but everything else was great.

I had such a wonderful experience here! I was having plumbing issues at my home and had to book a last-minute stay last weekend, and everything was so smooth and easy. The front desk employee on the check-in shift (3-11pm) was so, so friendly and personable, and so helpful in all regards - I cannot praise them enough! Unfortunately I did not get their name, but they are truly a benefit to the hotel. When the issues at my home were resolved earlier than I thought, they were so accommodating to have the room fully cleaned and restocked for night two of the booked stay so I could send my parents on a well-deserved Saturday staycation. Breakfast was simple but very good, and the rooms were great quality for the price paid. A very comfortable stay, great value for the price, and attentive staff - I recommend to anyone looking for a budget stay.

I’m so confused by all the bad reviews on here and admit I was a little hesitant as to what me and my kids would be staying in with most of the Splash Lagoon area sold out, but honestly our stay has been wonderful. My room is immaculate, updated and super clean. The location is so convenient right across the street from the water park and also a few doors down from the Erie Sports Park. The woman at the front desk was a total sweetheart and she immediately made us feel comfortable there. I’ve read complaints about the Wi-Fi, but mine worked great, so maybe that was a past issue. I’ve stayed at many places in the Erie area and honestly I am amazed how much nicer this hotel is than ones close by charging almost double the price. Best budget priced hotel I’ve ever stayed in.

I thought it was really good value for what you get. Nice modern rooms that were clean. Only negatives were some small red stains on the shower wall, the TV remote battery cover was missing so they fell out every time you lifted it, and glass barn door bathroom didn't give as much privacy). Free breakfast is 6:30am-9:30am on weekdays and I was happy with what was there, enough to fill you up (make your own waffles, sausages, eggs - those were not that good though - apples, oranges, bagels, toast, yogurt). The room is fairly large and the closet was hidden behind the bathroom door which we had a hard time finding. Bathroom very modern.
They are very accommodating with setting out breakfast early because I had an early meeting and letting me check out late. There was some miscommunication between what the front desk staff told me and what the manager told them, but the manager called my room himself and explained the situation and was apologetic and accommodating and we solved the issue.

Stayed here for two night in February and was beyond pleasantly surprised!! DO NOT let the bad reviews deter you.... this place is under new management and it is clean, many of the rooms have been redone and the employees are so friendly. The manager Ed, was so kind to us and he made sure that we had everything that we needed. Breakfast was hot and delicious each morning. Give this place a go...you wont be sorry!

Stayed here 3-18-2019 and was pleasantly surprised. This was our first experience with Solstice and impressed. We will stay here again. Super modern, super clean. The only negative my wife had, (shes very critical), is the bathroom door. Its a barn style, sliding glass door. I enjoyed it all.

**edit** adding that the breakfast is very nice. I had choice between sausage, eggs, waffles, cinnamon rolls, bagels, toast, cereal, and various fruits. There was also a bountiful amount of yogurt. (Read in a previous review there wasn't any).

This room was the cheapest i have paid for a room of all the times I have stayed in Erie. For a 2 star hotel how dare you complain that they don't have exactly the breakfast you like or knit pick the small stuff. This place was very nice with a modern contemporary decor. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Beds were comfortable. Location was great. Really had no complaints. Only thing I was kind of bummed about was the pool was under construction and being remodelled which should be in the advertizing, but looking forward to enjoying my next trip to Erie. The room was so clean and the bed was extremely soft. I am a bit needy and requested extra towels and was delighted with how quickly they arrived. This is definitely the best hotel in comparison to the others that are closely located. :)

This was a great stay for a bare bones last minute trip. The staff were exceptionally accomodating, the space was clean and bright. The complimentary breakfast consisted of coffee, bottled water, granola bars, chocolate chip muffins, chocolate chip cookies and🍎

My husband and I booked a room at this hotel last minute for a quick overnight getaway. The room was beautiful and the staff is extremely accommodating. We arrived over an hour early for check in and they had no problem with this. I will definitely stay here anytime we go to Erie for a getaway.

This place is 5 plus stars. Patel the manager was friendly and great customer service. Room was very clean and comfy.

This place rocks. For less than $100 including fees, thiscplace can be compared with the ones charging like $150. The two bed room I shared with my son was clean smelled fresh. I will definetly cdrop by when I come this way.

The staff was extremely polite. Our room was clean and the beds were very comfortable. The rate is awesome! We will definitely be back.

Nice place that's about 25 min from presque Isle and has a close McDonald's. They have these cool glass barn door for the bathroom. Looks like they have room service and really nice staff.

Second time here first time not so good ! This time was perfect everything was clean in the room air conditioning worked perfectly and staff very friendly and helpful so we added an extra day , highly recommended.
