Such a fun cafe in Burlington. Coffee was hot and freshly made. Breakfast was great. Good choice of bagels.
Fun art critters around the Cafe too.

I’ve been to many, many coffee shops… but Muddy Waters is SO unique! This coffee feels like you walked into a cabin in the woods with some of Jim Henson‘s Muppets/creations/art chilling with you for some coffee. It was seriously SO unique - and different! It took me awhile to “see” and “take it all in” before venturing up to the barista counter to order my delicious oat milk latte. In a land of a million “cookie cutter coffee shops” - Muddy Waters stands out as a diamond in the rough for SURE! Even if you don’t care for coffee- come in to see this really unique spot. Get a cup of coffee and “chill” with these Muppets

What an awesome coffee shop, I really enjoyed stopping at muddy waters, read on to find out why:

1. Extremely friendly staff. The individual that helped me get my food and coffee was a joy to chat with. It’s always nice to go into a place and and have a conversation that is more than surface level. Seems like people care here.

2. The coffee was fantastic and fast!! The perfect combination for what I needed that day. Gave me a little time back so I could walk around before I needed to meet with coworkers.

3. The location is perfect. Great spot right downtown. Easy walk to the water.

4. Food is great too! I would definitely recommend getting something to eat here as well.

Highly recommended, I added a few photos of the space if you want to get an idea of what it looks like.

Goodbye Starbucks and other overhyped coffee chains …. Let me introduce you to muddy waters for all you coffee connoisseurs.

The coffee is just hands down the best I have had. Add to it the fun and interesting environment, it’s quirky / eccentric, I didn’t get what is going on but hey I enjoyed the experience. The staff was Uber friendly.

Too bad I can’t travel 3.5 hrs everytime yo have coffee but I will when I visit Burlington VT. By the by this is in the church street marketplace.

Enjoy your cafe.

Every now and then, I like to check out a new coffee shop, especially if it has a unique design. The ambiance at this café was excellent, I would give 10/10. The food is decent. I tried a hummus, pita and coffee. which were tasty. I would definitely stop by this location whenever I'd be in Vermont to experience again this cafe's vibes.

We popped in here super early on a Wednesday morning and it was so cozy and quiet. The coffee was great as were the bagels (I had the smoked salmon with capers and dill cream cheese). We were able to sit and read comfortably for at least an hour before it started to get busier.

We did find it a bit less enjoyable when the cafe started to fill up with some smaller kids who were obviously a bit more noisy. But this is more of a personal preference and didn’t ruin our experience.

If you’re looking for a calm spot to enjoy your morning coffee, head there early and take advantage.

Not only are there fun coffee and food options, but the ambiance is such a treat for the senses! Large wooden beams and paneling, make for such a cool vibe along with the painted tin ceiling. Oh, and the plants growing in the front room are absolutely lovely. All of those natural elements clash in the most stunningly wonderful way with the art piece monsters!
My daughter loved the white hot chocolate and made us go back during the second day of our trip so she could get another, and the spicy hot chocolate was just the right heat level to be exciting!

True coffeehouse atmosphere. Great place to chat over coffee and a snack. Try the granola--chock full of nuts and dried fruit. Appreciate that they stay open later than most coffee places in town.

Delightfully quirky coffee shop with tasty food and yummy drinks. Inside feels like a woody cabin with some of Jim Henson‘s more creative Muppets hanging about. The chili was very good, especially with a slice of toast that added a certain sweetness to it. I had a hot cider with a cinnamon stick and it really hit the spot. This is a great little coffee shop, will definitely be back.

A great spot with one of the best atmospheres I’ve ever been to in a coffee shop! Love it here.

Very cool vibes inside. Especially loved the woods beams throughout! The coffee was HOT and the scones were delicious! My husband got a "pot of tea" in a cast iron tea pot.... They literally have a wall of loose tea leaves to fit everyone's fancy; so many flavors to choose from. The spicy chai was delicious as well.

This is like stepping into another reality. Had the alternate dimension larger than life puppets not been peering at me through the window, I would not have ventured in... but thank God I did! Super cozy coffe/tea/juice bar with fresh baked goods and other fare. Definitely a new favorite 💗

As both a local and UVM student, Muddy Waters is my go-to breakfest, coffee and study spot. Open into the evening, with beautiful sunny windows during the day, it is the perfect spot to enjoy any of their delicious drink options and delectable pastries. They also source their bagels locally, which are in my opinion the best in Burlington, and my family is from New York City. Even on busy school days, I always stop for a mocha and bagel on my way up to campus for the most reasonably priced and highest quality drinks and eats. If you are looking for a coffee shop in the Burlington area, go to Muddy Waters.

Muddy Waters has always been such an amazing local coffee shop and we missed it terribly during quarantine but it’s back and with a fun new twist- it’s full of quarantine monsters!!! You have to go just for the art installations. There have been 3 monsters out front for a while but there must be around 10more unique monsters inside!

Additionally, Muddy’s is still serving some delicious coffee, lattes, and espresso drinks as well as a range of unique and delicious looking pastries, breads, and bagels. The bagels are always really fresh and not too chewy (you HAVE to try the spinach and everything bagels). LGBTQ friendly, local, and with so many delicious options, Muddy Waters is a Burlington cafe you need to stop by whether you are a local or just visiting!

The cafe seems like a great hangout place for the college crowd. With a hipster atmosphere, and retro artsy look it is also a nice stop for those in town for a visit or that would like a non-starbucks experience.

A great cozy coffee shop with a cool vibe and eclectic decor. Jazz piano music playing when I was there. Espresso drinks are top notch.

I love this place! It feels like I am on an acid trip with all the weird colorful statues. Also if feels like I am in a log cabin, maybe both an acid trip in a log cabin? Coffee and tea are S tier! Very delicious.

We loved this coffee shop! The iced lattes we ordered tasted so good! My husband got while milk and I got oat milk and we were both very happy with our choices in comparison to other coffee we tried in the area. The atmosphere is eclectic and a bit small but worth stopping in for the coffee at least!

Coffee in a tree house style surrounding, who can complain? Staff is friendly, widest selection I have seen in an average coffee shop for both food or drinks. They have smoothies, kombuchas, etc. if you're not huge on coffee but want to stop by with a friend. They always have bagels from a local bagel shop as well as plenty of baked goods, fruit parfaits, soups, and more. My *only* complaint would be that they are rather slow even when not busy, so be mindful of your time if you're in a rush (but it is worth the wait!)

*Note they are selective about when they allow laptops to respect other patrons' opportunity to enjoy their business as well.
