Five star food and service at a reasonable price!

Our small family wanted to end 2023 and start 2024 with a bag and chose J Alexander's as our restaurant of choice, hoping to pay less than premium steak house prices but still enjoy top quality food and a fine-dining atmosphere. And boy did it deliver on every level!

We decided to start with calamari as our appetizer to split. Crispy outside, properly salted and tender insides made this a very craveable starter that got

We each opted to add salads to our entrees for an additional $8 each, which was well worth it. (The appetizer and salad would have been a satisfying lunch on their own!). My wife and I opted for the house salad while my stepson got a Caesar salad.

My stepson and wife opted for the bleu cheese crusted NY strip steak entrees which also came with a loaded potato. I chose the bang bang Chilean sea bass, which came with sides of orzo and asparagus. The sea bass was fresh and some of the most tender fish I've ever eaten. The portion size was smaller than expected but when finding out after the fact that 12 ounces frozen costs around $32 at whole foods, I was pleased with the quality of the food and it's preparation compared to its price ($45). Both steaks were cooked to a perfect medium and the loaded potato was the perfect pairing. (Admittedly, it might have been better to eat the steak entrees with the salads, but they both said they were enjoyable on their own.)

With the total bill plus tip being about $225, this was a much better value than expected considering we ordered an appetizer and added salads. We also received excellent service from our waitress and the manager all evening who made it a point to visit every table--even on a busy Friday. I would highly recommend J Alexander's to those looking for a fine-dining experience that won't break the bank compared to other neighboring more expensive steak houses.

Took the hubby out for date night and luckily J. Alexander's had an opening for reservations, atmosphere was very nice, food was very delicious and the staff super friendly. Only thing I did not like was that we felt a little rushed when the food was brought out. We had an appetizer and as soon as we got done with that our salads came out but then entrées cane out while we were still eating. Other than that it was perfect.

This was our first visit to J. Alexander's and we could not have had a better experience. The service was great. The food was outstanding. The atmosphere is upscale without being pretentious. We ordered off the KOP restaurant week menu. We ordered the calamari, the steak rolls, ceaser salad, the filet mignon, the prime rib, the key lime pie, and the chocolate cake. The food was cooked perfectly and was delicious. We will definitely be returning to try more items off the menu.

First time here, after a show in Oaks. Allyson was our server, and she was amazing. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was great. Not noisy at all, we were able to have a conversation during dinner and hear each other. Very relaxing, and did not feel rushed through the meal. Will be returning in the future. Thank you for a great experience. Kathy

Great little place to pop into! They had a wine menu with discounted wines, the Riesling was delicious. The charred artichokes are a MUST. So hard to find artichokes on menus these days. The server was attentive and knowledgeable. The burger was good and so was the steak. The cheese dip was addictive. Loved!

This place is our FAVORITE for a date or anniversary. Dress up and enjoy an excellent meal by soft light. Service here is by far the best. Food is fresh and perfectly cooked. We have never had a bad meal and have tried most things. Our favorites include the calamari, steak, crab cakes(BEST IN TRI-COUNTY AREA and 100% CRAB MEAT!!!!), chicken finger platter, carrot cake, and the coffee. Good prices for the amount of food. Definitely make a reservation.

That review started way back when they opened and here we are in 2023 with the same opinion! This place is just such a hidden gem we absolutely love it. Who wouldn't!? Just look at that crab meat! Trust me, I seek out crab cakes. You cannot be these, even at top seafood restaurants at the shore!

Great place to eat! Service was great! They messed up my girlfriend’s meal but it was remade right then and there and they even threw in free desert to say that they were very sorry about the mix up. I will definitely be back here to eat again.

We had a lovely evening having dinner with friends. We started with the spinach dip. Everyone loved it. For dinner I had the crab cakes (yum), my husband had the 10oz filet, my friend had the grouper and her boyfriend had the prime rib. Everyone loved the food. We ended with the chocolate cake and carrot cake. The carrot cake was served warm and we all thought it was great. The chocolate cake had more of a sweet flavor than a dark chocolate flavor. That was a little disappointing but we had a great time anyway. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. The food presentation was very nice. I would definitely go back. It's pricey but it's not like we eat like this all the time so for special occasions or just a nice evening with friends it was nice.

First time visiting, and it was fabulous. Service was exceptional as was the wine list and food. Be sure and save room for the carrot cake and open with the avocado bomb!!

We traveled all the way from New Jersey this evening to dine at J Alexanders. Best dining experience EVER! The food was EXCELLENT! We ordered the grouper with shrimp, salmon caesar salad, steak tacos and spinach dip. Looking forward to dining here again.

Continues to impress with service and always consistent steak. Many stake houses and restaurants rest their claim on just the food and sacrifice everything else. J.Alexander’s always has a consistently well cooked steak and absolutely pleasant staff. You can’t complain on the wine or cocktail selection either. Make room for the seasonal apps and heated desserts!

We came here for my daughter's birthday. Our meal was delicious! For appetizers we had the spinach dip and calamari! I had filet mignon and the fries. I wasn't a big fan of the fries, but everything was still yummy! My daughter had filet mignon and broccoli. She said she really loved her meal. She also had a slice of key lime pie and she really enjoyed it. We will definitely be back.

Had dinner this evening and it was delicious. The Crab cakes are some of the best I’ve ever had. Nothing compared to the excellent service provided by our server Cianna. Wonderful experience, will definitely be back.

Went here for the first time this past week for the KOP Restaurant Week - glad we chose this place!

The restaurant has a nice vibe and ambiance. We made a reservation so we were immediately seated upon arriving. All of the staff we interacted with (host/hostess, waiters & waitress, etc.) were all polite, friendly, attentive and courteous throughout our entire dining experience, especially our waitress Valerie who was great! On to the most important part - the food...

We did the 3-course Restaurant Week menu options. He ordered the Steak Bites, Filet Mignon w/loaded mashed potatoes and Key Lime Pie while I had the Spinach and Queso dip, Grilled Salmon and Carrot Cake for dessert. We took our desserts home because our appetizers and entrees were soooo good, we ate it all and had no room for dessert. For drinks, we had a bottle of one of the Cabernet Sauvignon which had a very smooth taste to it - they have a great $20/bottle special.

Overall, had a great experience. Definitely recommend checking them out and would come here again for sure!

Food was excellent. Mary was our server and she knows the menu very well. Our entrees were Prime Rib and crab cakes. Well prepared Prime Rib. Crab Cakes with very little filler, all lump crab meat. Heirloom tomatoes and loaded baked potato for sides. Quick service. Carrot was served warm and is a big chunk. Worth every penny.

Went here to celebrate my birthday. Top notch service and delicious food! To start, we had the bacon-topped deviled eggs and queso spinach dip. Both were great! I will definitely order the deviled eggs again. The dip was very good, but I will try something different next time. I ordered the crab cakes - jumbo-lump and no filler. So good! My husband ordered the ribs. He really enjoyed the sauce on them. For dessert, my husband had the key lime pie. It was a huge slice and enough for a treat the next day. I ordered the sundae. I loved that I could add the sauces and toppings myself. Our server also brought us some honey-glazed croissants as a little surprise. So much delicious food! Needless to say, we had a great lunch the next day. I've already recommend this place to a few people. I'm looking forward to going back!

This restaurant opened in April of 2018. Very nice restaurant with a great atmosphere. Piano music playing, nice bar area and plenty of tables to host just about any size party. Waitress was very knowledgeable, friendly and provided great service. Drinks and food were A+! Try the spinach queso, you will not be disappointed. We tried the Beef Kabobs which was the special of the day and the Norwegian Salmon. Will definitely be back!
