The best Italian in Newtown, CT by far! Gnocchi alla vodka, eggplant parm and filet are to die for and their salads are super fresh and delicious. They also have THE BEST olive oil dipping sauce and they serve it with freshly baked bread (on the house!). I’ve never had a bad experience dining here. Staff is always attentive and friendly.

Amazing food! Run don’t walk here! Delicious fresh, well cooked, quality entrees and good home made warm bread served with dinner. Quiet calm ambience and seems a ton of regulars dine here. Chicken dish had a very scrumptious sauce. Salmon was cooked perfectly and the accommodate whatever way you prefer your fish cooked. It was delightful and everyone left full and happy. Easy parking lot and nice environment! We will be back! 5 stars and above!

I have been going to Sal e Pepe for many, many years and have always had a great experience! Their food is consistently delicious. This visit in particular was Mother's Day. Everything was perfect! Staff and food were exceptional as usual! On this occasion I also had the pleasure of speaking with the Mrs (owner), who is lovely!

I had always heard that Sal e Pepe was a great restaurant in Newtown, and one visit was all it took to solidify those claims! For very good reason, they’ve swept the Connecticut Magazine awards for years. We had the cheesy garlic bread for an appetizer, and even though it had quite the blanket of mozzarella on it, it was a surprisingly light bread that my fiancé and I had no problems taking down ourselves. There’s also a hint of lemon in the butter, which they also bring with the normal bread for the table, and it’s really tasty! Our other appetizer was the angus beef bites, and we found the meat to be tender, and the potato croquettes to be a delicious topper. The star of the show for me was Mrs. Marini’s Lasagna Bolognese. Though I’m Italian, I’m not usually the biggest lasagna lover because I’m used to my family making it with a ton of ricotta, which I’m the biggest fan of. This lasagna is literally the best I’ve ever had because it had the most layers of pasta I’ve ever seen, with no ricotta and a blend of cheeses instead! The sauce was also delicious and had just the right amount of meat mixed in. If you don’t get the lasagna on your visit, you’re missing out! My fiancé loved the parmesan tilapia, which is their best seller, and I also loved the short rib ravioli - the meat was so flavorful in this dish! For dessert, we enjoyed the tiramisu and the drunken cherries, which we had never seen on a menu before. We loved this restaurant so much, we were about to go back in a couple days had the timing worked out when we were in the area. I told the owner I’ll be bringing my Italian grandfather here to try that lasagna!

Went last night for dinner with wife and in laws. I have to say, out of all the Italian restaurants in the area. This place is easy top 5. They don't have the same generic Italian Cuisine as everyone else. The good was presented beautiful on the plates. Our waitress Sierra was sweet and very attentive to us. Good was top notch. I dont have photos of the others food. But me, i had the Chicken Francese. Great smooth, thick sauce with side if perfectly mashed mashed potatoes and green beans. Felt light, but yet filled me up happily. By all means take a dinner date and have a great meal here.

A great night with the family. Food worth traveling for. The service was fantastic and our servers were all incredibly kind. Everyone we dealt with were absolutely professional. Food is very well done and carefully considered. You will have trouble deciding what you want to commit to!

Sal e Pepe restaurant is a place you must visit. The food is excellent and the menu provides wonderful choices for a delicious dinner. Once you visit, you will anxious to return. It’s our favorite restaurant.

The food and service are always amazing. My family loves the delicious food and the welcoming family atmosphere. I've never left the restaurant without a smile on my face and a happy belly.

This was the first time I decided to cater food for a party. I chose Sal e Pepe and was happy I did. The food was delicious and there was plenty to go around. Angelo and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Thanks everyone for making my party a success and for giving me a break from cooking and the chance to socialize with guests.

What an outstanding restaurant! My wife and I dined there last night for the first time and it was phenomenal. From the apps to desert, excellent! Service was superb. The dining experience is great. Not rushed. You actually have time between your app and entree which was nice. The owner, I presume, brought out the food and you can tell his love for this place. We cannot wait to go back - SOON! Thanks Sal e Pepe for doing it RIGHT!

Food is always excellent, no matter what is ordered. Seafood, pasta, steak-you can't go wrong.
Desserts are always a treat.

One of the best restaurants in lower CT. Always a fresh meal, with perfect portions, made with care. Reccomend the chicken scarpiello (or scarpiello pizza), ricotta gnocchi, chicken parmigiana, and ANY dessert - especially the Nutella Mousse Pie. Outdoor seating is a huge plus as well!

We had a very enjoyable evening at Sal e Pepe’s. The waitress was so friendly and attentive. The food was delicious. I had the fettuccine pescatore & my friend had the ricotta gnocchi bolognese which we loved. The pecan bourbon bread pudding is yummy. Would definitely recommend.

Since Angelo opened, my favorite Italian restaurant! Great food,wines and drinks with excellent service! Can’t go wrong !

I was looking for a local Italian spot with stuffed pastas and Sal e Pepe did NOT disappoint! Brooke, my server, was sweet and quick. The Chicken Cannelloni was superb and the fresh bread was mouth watering!!

Stay was very nice. We made reservations, and were sat right away. Employees were SUPER attentive and kind. Our waitress, who wore a braid and glasses, was amazing. Food came out relatively quick, and it was delicious every time (appetizers and dinner). Portions were perfect and amazing for a seven person table. Thank you for this experience, Sal e Pepe!

This was a thoroughly enjoyable evening. We were given the choice of seating area and were pleased to be at a table. Shannon took care of us while providing training to a new waitress - a very nice exchange. Delighted to have the bonus of the scratch off card, we knew we'd be having the pistachio cheese cake for dessert even before ordering our meals. Specials had great choices from which we chose Grouper with request for double vegies and Ragout with sausage. Always love the Baby Mista to start the meal and delicious coffee to finish with our dessert. The Montepulciano red wine 1/2 carafe was wonderful; and JW Red scotch with a BigCube a pleasure. Surrounded by efficiency and lots of happy diners, we absolutely enjoyed the wonderful meal and evening. We'll be back again soon.
