Shu Restaurant

We have been here 4 times already. So far, this is the top authentic Chinese cuisine I have ever tried. Following are my favorites and must try dishes:
-> Fried egg with Tomato soup
-> Twice cooked chicken and Fish
-> Fried rice with Yibin pickles.
-> Mongolian Beef
-> Aspargus and scallion
The service was really good and the food was prepared very quickly too. I would definitely recommend this to all.

We stopped here on our way home. The double cooked pork was very nice. The waiter was also very attentive. I would definitely come again next time I am passing by. Only complaint is that parking is a bit tough on the street during traffic.

Arguably the most authentic Chinese restaurant in the area. Food is consistently high quality, very flavorful, and can be a little spicy (they can tone down many items on request). Love the hot and sour soup and the seafood soup. Sizzling Vegetables and fish in white sauce are great, twice cooked beef always good, and many others are just great. Lots of items on the menu to choose from.

The manager/owner gentleman was very friendly and made good recommendations. You can tell he is passionate about the restaurant and the food that they serve. The flavors in the food were bold and vibrant. Nothing we ate was bland or standard. Went above and beyond expectations and the prices were phenomenal for 2024.

If you are thinking Chinese for food, please visit this place. Excellent. I recommend it.

One of few authentic Chinese restaurants in Connecticut. There are two locations of Shu restaurant in CT: Fairfield and West Hartford. The environment is more elegant than some other Chinese restaurants. Although Sichuan cuisine is mainly spicy, there are also many non-spicy dishes on the menu to meet the needs of different tastes. Fu Chi Fei Pian is my favorite appetizer. The service is good too.

Chengdu dumplings will win awards. I'd come here just for them but everything else we have tried on the menu is fantastic and authentic. This is without doubt the best Chinese restaurant in Ct & one of the best in America.

Great Szechuan restaraunt. I’ve been her a few times and it’s always been exceptional. Chengdu wantons are addictive.

Edit years later: still best Szechuan outside of NYC. They also make most dishes gluten free.

Good selection of tasty food. Pleasant service. Convenient downtown location.

Really good food and they will season to taste, I like extra spicy and normally when you ask a restaurant too shove it up a little normally you get the same meal and not at all spicy, but this place knows exactly how to go to that next level without sacrificing taste!! Top knotch food, good service the food comes out quick and hot!! Everyone is friendly and engaging. They have my young one kiddie chopsticks and hot her food out first for us so high points for taking care of the customer request. My only don't on this place is I wish they had better parking but other than that two chopsticks up high praise!!

Impressive menu. Stands out easily above all other Chinese restaurants in the area.

I have not been back to this restaurant since my first visit. We decided to try the lunch menu. The website was old and had prices that were 25% lower. The online menu had the correct prices. I tried the beef with julienne pepper. It was nice and slightly spicy. My wife tried the first fillet with tomato. It wasn't what she expected. The tomato referred to frah tomato not a tomato sauce. But it was still ok.

Highly, HIGHLY recommend!! My whole family is obsessed with this place! We've been back about 10 times. ITS SO GOOD! The menu is super authentic and sometimes confusing. I suggest asking the waiter what is popular. The chengdu dumpling appetizer IS AMAZING!! I keep the sauce and put it on everything. Do not under estimate the Fish Filet & Pickled Vegetable Soup, its shockingly good, and the Crispy Shredded Beef is out of this world. Seriously, try this place! I've had flavors here that I've literately never tasted before.

Food is amazing. Not typical Chinese. Atmosphere is okay. Service is professional but definitely not overly welcoming. Still, I would recommend it if you're a foodie.

The very best Chinese Szechuan food we've ever had. The lovely owners have two restaurants near Hartford: one is a hot pot restaurant called "Han" and the other is also "Shu". The menu is extensive and we have tried many dishes. The soups are remarkable, the pork and lotus root is very special, as is the tomato fried egg. The grilled whole fish is very special. The extensive vegetarian menu is wonderful. If you like Chinese food, this is the place to go!

One of the best Chinese restaurants around, great authentic food, fair price and nice service.

I have been searching for decent Chinese food in Fairfield County for the past decade, mostly with little success. Shu does a very good job at relatively authentic, tasty Sichuan style cuisine. I was ecstatic when I tried it and it was delicious, as I was not optimistic going in based on past experience in this county. We're lucky to have this gem in the area, and I wish them continued success.

Having traveled to the Far East, I can attest to the authenticity of the food. Besides being fresh and tasty, it was reasonably priced.

First time food was great ! Allowtizer scallion pancakes with beef. I had chicken fried rice with hoisin sauce and husband had shrimp and scallops both were delicious ! Great service as well.

Excellent food. Hard to find this quality of Chinese cuisine in CT. Also check out the Shu and Han in Hartford, and the Song in West Hartford, all owned by the same organization

There's a new sushi chef at Kiraku and we had a delicious lunch there today, which was some of the best sushi I have had in a long time. And they are still running the lunch time specials! Family owned restaurant, owners and staff very friendly and welcoming. Recommend the eel and avocado sushi..
