Vaughan's Public House

Being Irish myself, I am quite judgemental about Irish Pubs that claim to be Irish only to be disappointed that the only thing Irish is the name. This place was authentic and amazing. Food, top notch. Service, ABOVE top notch. If you're headed to Hartford, I'd add Vaughns as a place as a "must". I absolutely felt at hoke. The menu was pure class and the wait staff were genuinely perfect. Even the Manager On Duty went out of her way to make guests feel like they were old time regulars! I absolutely love this place

One of the most welcoming Irish Pub. Comfortable seating and service was exceptional. As our party grew, they made sure everyone was accommodated. We just had pints and cocktails before and after a wedding. The bartender recognized us and served complementary Homemade Irish Cream and wished us all Happy New Year. They didn’t have to do anything seeing that they were busy. Solid experience. Pro bar operators and exceptional locals place.

This pub - and I cannot stress this enough - is easily one of the top restaurants in Hartford. I came here on a Monday night and it's one of the few restaurants that's actually open late on a Monday night.

I'm here for 1 night... I got in late and had 1 shot at a great meal and some local brews... The bartender didn't disappoint.

The locals were all touting the usual... Fish and chips, corned beef and cabbage... And I don't want to insult them... I'm sure they are both great (especially after tasting my dinner). But... I had an order of wings and the steak tip dinner.

The wings are EASILY in my top 10 that I've had... And I travel the country for business specifically trying certain dishes (wings specifically) to compare to others. They fall off the bone, aren't smothered in a sauce so heavy that it's unpleasant, and somehow still crispy. They pair extremely well with the bleu cheese that they have. Note to the owner... Don't change your Bleu Cheese.

Now... On to the steak tips. These were Ridiculously good. Probably one of the best meals I've ever had. Rivaling some of the big names like Ruth's Chris and Del Monico. Melt-in-your-mouth delicious charring, absolutely incredible demi. Absolutely the best dinner I could have asked for.

Jesse was my bartender and he knew just about everything about all of the beers I tried... And the food that I tried.

Absolutely one of the best business trip meals and overall experiences on record.

It’s been many years since we have stopped into Vaughans. Mainly because we don’t live or work in the Hartford area anymore. I worked here many moons ago (close to its 20 years ago opening as the owner reminded me tonight). But this review isn’t about nostalgia, although there was plenty of that to be had too. The 5 star review is due to the fact that decades after opening this restaurant was still hopping and still cranking out delicious comfort food with great service. A place to feel welcome, enjoy a game, a beer and delicious pub food. An anchor on Pratt Street which now has a few other neat shops to boast. If you haven’t already, check it out!

Neat little Irish Pub with some good food. My friend enjoyed his Shepherd's Pie and my other friend had the Irish Chicken Fingers😜.
I really liked my Mixed Grill even though the mashed potatoes were a little bland. But the meats were delicious and the eggs were cooked to perfection.
The cheesecake for dessert was good, we did but care too much for the Guinness Brownie.
Overall a solid place with friendly service and a really nice ambiance. Worth a visit!

After a long day, went looking for a local place for a drink and dinner. Stumbled upon this little gem on Pratt St. and decided to give it a try.

It was an absolutely beautiful evening so we sat outside where they had a live band playing as well (just down the street) and made for a great atmosphere. The staff was great and very nice. The food was great!! Went with some good Irish meals and were not disappointed. We’ll be back.

I had a pleasent experience here. I ordered the Shepard’s Pie, Guinness Stew, and a Guinness Brownie. I have to admire the food quality, the taste of the food was homemade and savory, and had a unique pub flavor to it. Vaughan’s is definitely going down as one of the best pubs in the Hartford area, if not one of the best in the state.

Discovered this small Irish pub after attending connecticon and ordered the curry fries for a starter, cod and chips and the Guinness infused brownie washed down with a nice cold Guinness.

The curry chips was so good, the chips had a nice crunchy bite with a delicious curry sauce that I just had to get an extra side.

The cod and chips was actually quite decent with a nice soft tender fish, and the dessert was so good it was gone before I could even take a photo.

Im very happy to have found this place randomly. What an awesome atmosphere. “Public Houses” are a dime a dozen, but this is easily tops of all the ones I’ve visited from Northampton down to new haven.

Beer selection was good but I don’t remember seeing too much on tap. Overall a great bar with a great atmosphere!

I had dinner and drinks with friends here and this place is awesome. It's a small place so the bartender, Jay, was also our server. He was awesome and really friendly. My friend is a regular here, so Jay already knew my friend's food and drink order. They have a number of beers on tap, and a limited menu. I'm not sure if the limited menu is because of Covid, but I had the steak tri tip at Jay's recommendation and it was DELICIOUS! One cool thing about this place is that their condiment container on the tables has HP sauce, or brown sauce.

What a hidden gem in downtown Hartford is Vaughan's. The Irish pub fare is fantastic! I've ordered or tasted each traditionally Irish dish, from Bangers & Mash to Guinness Irish Stew to their terrific Fish & Chips and I've never been disappointed. The owner and staff are in incredible and welcoming and they always remember my face and my regular drink. It is difficult to find something that is not to like or love about this Pratt Street pub.

Vaughan's Public House is a great place to go with family or friends. The food is great, the service is friendly and helpful, and the broad selection of beer on tap is impressive. It can get a bit noisy, but that is to be expected when you get a lot of people together enjoying themselves.

We had a wedding welcome party here last week, and the staff at Vaughans were fantastic at accommodating us. They were so helpful, we were from out of town, and they took care of everything. Great atmosphere, terrific bar, good pub food. I can’t say enough good things about Vaughans!!

A great place to get a bite to eat and a pint!
Large place to spread out and hang out with friends and family. Great Irish fare, as well as some American dishes. A Must stop if you're in Downtown Hartford, CT.

Love this place, we went to watch the USA soccer game and we really enjoyed our time there. They had a huge screen outside whith a bar. Very nice experience 👌

I do not live in the city but am able to visit a few times a year for work. I always make it a point to go to Vaughan's!

It has been wonderful over the past 3 and a half years to walk in and still see Jay the bartender! An incredibly friendly face and fantastic bartender!

Tonight we had the pleasure of not only the very friendly waiter Connor waiting on us, but the owner as well. It's great to see that he is so Hands-On. Both he and Connor are full of jokes, which is nice and you feel at home there.

The three of us ordered their very delicious French fries which never disappoint , potato skins which are pretty basic in the potato skin area but good, baked brie wrapped in philo dough was sooooo good, and the clam strips were yummy and also surprisingly served fries as well.

Can not wait for my next visit, I always feel so welcomed here, a little bit of home when I can't be home. :)
