Madison Cheese Shop & Cafe

The finest cheese shop in the area. They make wonderful, exotic sandwiches. Absolutely delicious foods. They know which cheese is appropriate for each occasion, which wine or crackers go well with each cheese. They sell all sorts of condiments and jams to match their products. It's right across from Stop & Shop in Madison. I think they're closed on Tuesdays but well worth the trip.

The grilled cheese sandwiches are so good, and the cheese selection is great! The lady helping us was very knowledgeable, I told her what I liked in different cheeses, and she had really great recommendations.

Wonderful service, as always (first time back in 3 years). Food is delightful (albeit pricey), but the quality is great and I completely understand the markup. For how understaffed and busy they were when we came, food came out fairly quickly. Delighted that gluten free bread was an option! We will be back whenever we are in the area.

A must visit in Madison! We stopped in for the cheese selection and could have spent hours tasting cheese and learning about all the varieties. We definitely left with a great selection. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. We didn’t try a sandwich but they looked delicious

Great local cheese shop with outstanding selection of cheeses and locally sourced meats for platters and sandwiches. This is the place to go for lunch, charcuterie and cheese platters. As one of the employees stated "we won't sell it, if it isn't the best. We have to eat it also" as she laughed. Nothing more true can be said about Madison Cheese Shop.

This was our second visit here. There was plenty of parking. They have a very nice selection of various cheeses. There are also other cheese related items such as meats, chips, crackers, etc. They also have plenty of good tasty sandwiches. We ordered the Mean Mama sandwich to spilt and it was very good. The only issue we had was that the sandwich took 15 minutes to prepare, that seemed like a lot for a to-go sandwich. Other than that, all was very good.

Amazing staff. Everyone is extremely knowledgeable. They always find me a cheese I love based on my very vague description of what I’m looking for. The selection is huge. They also sell pickles, pasta, jam, spreads, olives, and basically anything that could pair with cheese. Go get a grilled cheese and something for your Sunday cheese board. You wont regret it.

Placed my order on the phone for the double nibbler as soon as the shop was open. When I arrived I was greeted by a super friendly staff. The plate was described beautifully and was delicious. Price was very fair for the amount of cheese and meat I received. Would definitely come back!

This mild winter has got me thinking about sitting outside, face to the Sun, with a bit of melted Gouda dripping from the edge of my piping hot grilled cheese sandwich. How many more days till Spring?

So delicious!! The Vermont cheddar with blueberry jam and the melty mouse with blueberry jam are my favorites.

Great sandwiches and even better cheese! While it sits just off of the main st drag this little shop is one of Madison’s gems. Have some fun and grab a bottle of wine from the Madison Wine Thief (down the way off of Wall St), a great sampling of cheeses from Madison Cheese (they’ll help with recommendations and also sell great bread), your picnic blanket and beach chairs and head to the beach!

We are new to town and ever since we saw it we wanted to come, but "busy" got in the way.
We finally made it there and boy I was happy. It is no doubt the best grilled cheese I ever had, and my son says the one I make at home is the best. I think once he comes with us to try it he will change his mind.
I got the one the lady recommended and loved it.
Lovely place ran by lovely people.

Top in quality and knowledge of cheeses and pairings of their products with crackers, tampenades, fruit and more. A wonderful boutique to explore and discover new cheeses from around the world. For me, the culinary delights are fascinating as well as delicious. Their sandwiches are masterfully created, large and a gourmand's treat. Eat outside on one of the bistro tables or simply take out. The owner will take the time to teach a lesson in cheese perfection and send you home amazed and happy.
I always buy their Drunken Goat cheese, aged Gouda from Holland and most recently tried a triple milk (goat, cow, sheep) double cream brie-type cheese. Bon apetit!

We shared a 5 cheese grilled cheese on incredibly delicious multigrain bread. Plus yummy tomato soup and mushroom soup. Their menu is calling us back. The chef, the owner and other wait staff are so helpful and friendly. They have so many great staples and refrigerated items that are very unique. Can't wait to go back.

Madison Cheese gets the prize for being the Absolute Best. Delicious Grilled Cheese Sandwiches, made with Real Butter, not that fake margarine blend. Outstanding Cheeses and Amazing bread. If you're a late riser, it's great for Breakfast. The Coffee is Perfection!
The Staff is wonderful and very knowledgeable. Cheese Platters and BYOB are also a delicious option. My mouth is watering as I write! Is it 11:00 yet?

This place is truly amazing, Each time I am in Madison, I make sure this is one of my first stops. To taste one of the specialty Grilled Cheese Sandwiches is truly a taste of heaven. I have traveled the world, have dined in some spectacular places, if I close my eyes, sample one of the many cheeses they offer, I truly can imagine being back in France or many other countries. It is always a pleasure to have such knowledgeable people behind the counter, and I learn something new each time I visit this spectacular place. YOU MUST GO AND VISIT FOR YOURSELF!!! A true gem in this quiet little town.

If you love cheese (who doesn't), you will love this place!! The owner is a very knowledgeable and gracious woman. They were out of the 7 year aged Cheddar I usually get the last time I was there and she had a perfect suggestion for a substitute. She and all of her staff make you feel very welcome.

My fiance and I found this quaint little shop on a list of amazing cheese shops in CT. Being cheese lovers, we decided it was worth driving the hour to visit this shop, especially after seeing that they not only sold cheese but had a small caffe. We ordered hot sandwiches, a "Mousetrap" for myself and a "Smokehouse" for him both with rosemary bread. They were extremely amazing! While we were waiting, the friendly very knowledgable staff let us taste some cheeses we were interested in and even suggested cheeses they thought we were likely to like based on our usual cheese preferences! Everyone working there was amazing and knowledgable and their shop is amazing. The sandwiches were also delicious!! We are looking forward to returning in the future!

Great little gourmet food shop on the shoreline! Delicious fresh, made to order sandwiches and salads, many with a French twist. My standard favorite is the Parisian. Today I tried the Porch Pig on a Demi. OMG! So good!
Incredible cheese selection too!
