Prairie Lakes Park

Great suburban park on the South side of Cedar Falls near the industrial park with paved trails looping around the bigger of the two Prairie Lakes, and along two sides of the smaller lake. Many benches along the paved trails provide opportunity to take a break from walking, running, riding, skiing etc, or just to watch the nature and enjoy the peaceful lakes. Many fishermen utilize both lakes to cast their lines in the warmer months and ice fishing in the winter. Kayakers can often be seen on the larger lake as well. Four workout stations dot the perimeter of the larger lake along the paved trails to offer opportunities to do some body weight exercises. Sign boards are posted to help provide ideas for exercises. There is a dock on each end of the larger lake, and the Southern one has a nearby covered picnic shelter with a paved offshoot from the main paved trails for easy access (by foot or bike, the parking lot is on the other side of the lake). The paved trails also connect to the rest of the greater Cedar Valley paved trails system for easy access.

Boy Scout Troop 500 from Cedar Falls used their normal meeting time to pick up garbage in honor of Earth Day, April 22nd.

Great park. The main feature are two loops of walking/biking paths that go around the 2 main lakes. Lots of room to run and have fun, but no real "park features" like playgrounds or bathrooms (there are outhouses...). We enjoy going on walks and looking for mulberries in the early summer.

The park is a good place to go for many different reasons. You can go there to exercise, run or just walk the trails. It's nice place to have a picnic either by throwing a blanket on the ground by the lake or use the shelter. I shouldn't say this but it is actually a pretty good place to fish. but you got to be smarter than fish. I always enjoying myself at Prairie Lakes Park. Give the air conditioner a break and get some fresh air in your lungs.

Great place to walk, jog, or ride a bike. Very visible and safe. Connects into the larger network of trails in the Waterloo/Cedar Falls area. You'll see people fishing, boating, and kayaking. This is a no wake lake.

Just a very nice place to go. Whether you're walking, biking, or just want to drop a pole in the water, it's a nice place to go. They have public restrooms and a city welcome center within walking distance. We walked a lap around and it added up to 2.6 miles total. Beautiful.

Really nice recreation area. Nice bike trail loops that connect with the whole bike trail system in Cedar Falls. Parking near by, as well as a bathroom right there. There are also the fitness areas on the side where you can add cross-training to your workout if you want.

Beautiful trails to walk/bike/run around, four different adult fitness jungle gyms, and some very nice views. I don't fish, but there looks to be some good spots for fishing as well.
