My mother and I came to visit to see some old friends, we stumbled upon the Inn, and thank heavens we did.

It's a little shocking when you walk in, because it doesn't come across like an inn, it's a home. The (New!) Inns owners Kevin and Scott are the most wholesome and kind humans I've ever been blessed to meet. They don't feel like Inn Owners/Keepers, they feel like family.
We settled in, went out to dinner (Fire&Ice) and when we got back they greated us asking about our time. Mom and I are talkers, turning "how was it?" into a two hour conversation is our specialty. Kevin and Scott listened to every word, answering all my questions and taking interest in our experience, sharing their personal ones as well. Not once did i think i was talking to a stranger, it was talking to old friends.
I can't say it enough, the Inn feels like home, and my goodness, do they keep a clean home. With rich history all around you would think a 220yr old home would be dusty, and have that "I've been thru it all" smell like most antique places have, but the Shoreham Inn is all the history with none of the dust, I can't stress enough how clean this place it. So clean, my mother noticed, and she's a tough woman to impress.

I can't wait to come back. I highly recommend this hidden Gem. Absolutely a magical, cozy, and heartwarming experience.

Thank you Kevin and Scott for such an enchanting stay. You two are doing an amazing job, I can't wait to watch all your dreams come true!

We wanted to tour some of the Revolutionary War battlefields - Fort Ticonderoga, Hubbardton and Bennington and thought this was an ideal location - turned out better than we thought. Instead of driving around Lake Champlain to get to Ft. Ticonderoga, we could take the Ferry 5 miles down Rt. 74 for a quick 7 minute trip. Very convenient and inexpensive.
Stayed in the sheep barn and in a room with bedroom and loft sitting area - very spacious and quiet. Great breakfast to start the day and the hosts were wonderful. Would recommend the Shoreham in to anyone.

We stayed at the Shoreham Inn last weekend and have nothing but praise for the place. Andrew and Elizabeth were completely gracious and welcoming. Happy to chat and happy to give you all the space you need. The inn itself is definitely an old country style place with all the character of a building weathered with over 200 years of history. Yet, it is kept fresh and clean. The bed was perfect and the heat was also the right temperature. We slept like puppies. Downstairs is leisurely filled with comfortable chairs and couches and is kept warm with a glowing fireplace. The breakfasts were perfect each morning with ample fresh coffee and a full menu of typical breakfast items prepared individually and with care. We ate the omelets, french toast, fresh fruit and were offered a good choice of juices. The town is quiet but only a 15-20 minute drive to Middlebury. It is also close enough to New York locations for several day trip options. We highly recommend the Shoreham Inn and its Innkeepers for your next Vermont get-a-way! Thanks for wonderful weekend.

We recently stayed at the Shoreham with our two young children (infant and toddler) in the orchard room. The room was spacious and well suited to our needs. Andrew and Elizabeth were very pleasant and accommodating during our stay. We enjoyed good conversation and an amazing breakfast in their beautiful Inn. They went above and beyond to accommodate our needs as a family with young children. I would highly recommend the Shoreham for anyone looking for an authentic Vermont bed and breakfast experience.

Our weekend stay in the Sheep Barn was phenomenal! This was without a doubt the cleanest, quietest, and most welcoming place we have stayed on our many recent adventures. The couple that owns Shoreham Inn were genuine, thoughtful, and professional.

The breakfast deserves a review of its own! These two can bake and cook! Absolutely delicious!

We can’t wait to stay again and hope the same owners are here and everything is exactly the same; it is hard to imagine it being better.

Lightning fast internet was a nice unexpected plus out in the middle of the country.

Thank you BOTH for making our anniversary vacation beyond what we dreamed of. You are wonderful people.

If you find yourselves in WI or IN let us know and we will happily return the hospitality, though it wouldn’t live up to yours.

This was my first ever bed & breakfast that I have stayed at! It was a great place! Brings u back 2 ur roots! The 2 owners are extremely nice, helpful, kind, they make great food in the a.m! She makes homemade granola and it is delicious! If you looking for a place to stay where you will be out of the room most of the day! I highly recommend staying here at the original Shoreham!

Excellent Service: most warm and friendly, they make you feel right at home. Most spacious rooms, both downstairs where you can do puzzles they provide, listen to music they provide and upstairs rooms most spacious and theme decor making it extra fun to stay in. The breakfast we had was out of this world in abundance and taste! Both a 5 star rating on the room and on the breakfast served. They even offered me a printout of their blueberry muffin recipe upon my request to have it as they were homemade and the best I have ever eaten. I highly recommend their potatoes as well as they are uniquely spiced and to die for. I did not want to leave this place!!!!

Was so pleased to find this place. Cool inn with a lot of history: built in 1795 I think?? They even had a guestbook from the 1870s.

Rooms were charming, breakfast was delicious, and the hosts (Andrew and Elizabeth) were lovely. My friend and I had come in on a bike tour and it was raining, and Andrew very kindly offered to drive us to get dinner.

Strong recommend!

Loved the sheep Barn. Ultra clean room/loft, great shower/bathroom. Very comfortable. Breakfasts were delicious - especially the breakfast sandwich, the potatoes, and the daily bakery item. Granola was also a hit. The proprietors, Elizabeth and Andrew, were fantastic. Located with a lot of great things within about an hour's drive, but especially convenient to Middlebury.

From the moment we arrived, it was evident our three day stay was going to be exactly what we hoped it would be. A quintessential Vermont Inn with every aspect lovingly presented by the two gracious hosts. The breakfast each morning was delicious. Homemade scones were a standout. And the location is perfection. Vermont vistas are everywhere.

This place is a gem! My husband, daughter, and I stayed at the Shoreham Inn for a night and everything was wonderful. The sheep barn was rustic yet updated with very nice and modern amenities. The patio and garden in the back were peaceful and much appreciated by our family. The food was SO GOOD (we had both dinner and the complimentary breakfast while there). Elizabeth was very kind and accommodating throughout our trip. The perfect host. If we make our way up to VT again we would DEFINITELY stay here again.

The Shoreham Inn is a fantastic place to stay. There is a full service restaurant in the inn that serves both breakfast and dinner (maybe lunch too...I don't know about that since we weren't there for lunch). They also have a cute bar. We had both breakfast and dinner at the inn and both meals were delicious. There is a fairly extensive menu for dinner and the breakfast meal is cooked to order with a number of choices for it too. The inn has comfortable places to sit and hang out both inside and out. It is one of the few inns that I've stayed at that had a genuine feel to the interior decoration. I've been to lots of inns that are just chock-a-block with historic-y decorations that aren't appropriate to the actual building. The Shoreham Inn, on the other hand, is decorated tastefully and appropriately. The two innkeepers are super friendly and accommodating. Elizabeth clearly is a hostess that cares about the comfort and needs of those staying with her. She knows a ton about the surrounding area and can help with any questions about places to visit, eat or stay. I really wished we had stayed for longer than one night. It would be the ideal location to use as a home-base for running about and visiting this beautiful part of Vermont.

I loved staying at the Shoreham Inn, the owner (Elizabeth) greeted me and my family warmly and showed us to our room right away (Lake Champlain room) which was immaculatey clean and nicely decorated. Dinner was enjoyed outside on the porch, while waiting for dinner I could walk around the property a bit and it's kept very nice, the lights around the deck mixed with the setting sun made for a very relaxing evening ( try the curry! It's delicious). The night's sleep was quiet and peaceful and the beds are extremely comfortable. Although, the lights outside of my room shone through the window atop of the door and made our room a bit brighter than expected, it didn't bother me but maybe bring some sleeping masks if you're sensitive to light while sleeping. Breakfast is reasonably timed in the morning, and was very delicious. Elizabeth was expecting us and had my family set up right away next to the window and waited on us for breakfast and drinks ( so nice!) The breakfast options change from time to time but I had the blueberry pancakes with sausage links and they were really good. Overall, everything was so well thought out and the details that the owners thought out and the effort they put into the inn is incredible. If you have the chance to eat or stay at Shoreham, please do!

Delightful inn with lots of antiques to intrigue the curious. Even a pair of very old spectacles just setting out on a desk! The Inn register from 1800’s was fascinating.
Elizabeth and Anthony were wonderful. Pleasant and kind but also very efficient. Great food! Loved the scones! I spent 5 nights and was very pleased. Unique experience!

This is the place to go on any night during the week. There is always something cooking in the kitchen you must try! The locals are always in and chatting about rumors around town. The drink selection is very good, and the owners are always down to earth. They have always had clean rooms with awesome wifi service. When the ferry is running this is a must stop, when the ferry is not running this is a must stop place. They offer local knowledge of all the cute places to visit you might not know about

Enchanting!

Comfortable. Luxurious. A sugar bowl of charm.
Whether for a memorable one-night stay on your way or a longer fling with Vermont’s heart, the Shoreham Inn is a great place to relax in the middle of all things South Champlain-ish or as a base to explore Central Vermont’s many tourist attractions.

The Inn seems to pre-date even nearby hamlets and is a dreamy reminder of something resembling your cool great-aunt’s house. History and cultural details fill every nook and cranny of the Inn, and you feel as if you time-traveled back into a warm, welcoming Revolutionary roadside tavern. The only things missing are horse-drawn carriages outside and period outfits on the friendly ghosts who might wander inside.

The rooms are immaculate and sleep so very embracingly. You can never forget this is a truly historic building with the ship-like steps, talking floors, and long-lost craftsman-level wood carpentry, yet every modern convenience of a Comfort Suites has been added to your room. Save for TVs. TVs would actually feel out of place. If you need a TV at the Shoreham, you are probably missing the experience of staying at an old New England Tavern.

The common room feels inclusive and beckoning, and is a joy to enjoy for casual talks or a quiet book. We did both. The tavern side looks like a movie set, and if you don’t like their inn-baked breakfast scones & local jams then there’s just something wrong with your taste buds. The rest of the menu offerings are equally mouth-watering and belly satisfying. Note: inquire about any evening Tavern offerings when you plan your stay.

Middlebury and Ticonderoga are biking distance away and dang near hiking distance. Awash with great restaurants and shops, both have the same charm that the Shoreham Inn reflects of Vermont so well, and the scenery constantly takes your breath away. Burlington is an easy hour north through camera-begging vistas.

There can’t possibly be more hospitable, professional innkeepers than Elizabeth & Andrew. They juggle the various guests with aplomb yet still make you feel like dear relatives come to visit.

You’ll be so glad you picked the Shoreham Inn, however long you stay.

If you ever find yourself in west central Vermont, I'd encourage checking out the Shoreham Inn. Built in 1799, it has been a tavern, public house, hotel or Inn nearly continuously for the past 223 years. Today we signed the "new" registry book, that dates back to 1919.

Katie and I spent most of the morning pestering Andrew, one of the proprietors, about the history of the building and area. He patiently indulged all of our questions between trips to the kitchen preparing our breakfast. He showed us around a little bit and pointed out eccentricities of the building and some of the mysteries of its construction.

We didn't get to speak with Elizabeth, the other proprietor, nearly as much, but she was equally delightful. And her fresh made scones put an exclamation point on our morning coffee.
