I was elated to find a delicious gluten free treat to enjoy with my chai latte! The lunch menu looked great and the food coming out of the kitchen even better. I’ll be back to try one of their vegetarian options!

Update 7/31 - My sister got a sweet and savory bun for breakfast and loved them both!

Listen, I am here daily. Literally. Great coffee, lots of tasty treats, sweet and savory buns, cookies, cake treats,breakfast sandwiches and lunch that changes on the daily. All fantastic. Best of all, the folks who work there. Bryce, Skylar, Tim, Chloe in the front are a delight. Haymaker does not disappoint.

Haymaker is a cool spot for lunch, and it's clear that many regulars frequent this place. The staff was incredibly friendly to both Lily, our Australian Shepherd, and us. The food was genuinely delicious. My only minor gripe is that I wasn't too keen on bussing my own table after leaving an 18% tip. Nonetheless, it's still a five-star experience, just a tad disappointing to handle those tasks after tipping.

Whenever I visit Middlebury from the Queen City (Burlington), I make a point to stop by Haymaker Buns. First, their savory and sweet buns are both creative and tasty. It is fun to watch the bakers make their buns nearby and eating these wonderful treats with coffee. Breakfast and lunch offer some great choices to eat, and always filling. Second, I am a big fan of supporting a woman-owned business and their excellent team. Finally, the atmosphere is cozy and has great views of the Otter Creek which it is located next to.

This is a go to place when stopping in Middlebury.

Spent 2 days in this adorable town and our final morning decided to have breakfast at Haymaker. Got an assortment of pastries as well as three different kind of drinks. I had an Americano my brother at a drip coffee and my mom had a latte. All we're absolutely delicious. We had an absolutely fantastic experience as the staff for also very helpful with deciding what to eat. We'll definitely be coming back and stocking up on pastries. Can't wait till I can stay around for dinner time. We had this strawberry cinnamon roll style pastry, an almond espresso pastry, a savory herb and cheese pastry as well as their cinnamon sugar donut. Honestly can't say how delicious everything was! If you're driving through here, make sure to stop.

This place is perfect. The staff are wonderful, and the atmosphere is always peaceful and pleasant. Every seat has a lovely view of Otter Creek running by outside. The food is fantastic and the buns are to die for.
…it really is my go-to “treat yourself “ happy place in Middlebury, and in the crazy world we live in, I’m so grateful for places like that.

great buns and such a welcoming atmosphere. the buns aren’t cheap at around $4-5 each, but they make up for it with the phenomenal river view.

Great sandwiches for a quick lunch. Fresh ingredients and flavors are spot on. Coffee was good too.

Any baked sweet treat is a star in my book. This place is tucked down a side street and has a cool commercial vibe with awesome treats. I loved my banana bread. Partner in fun had a rhubarb bun and gobbled it up. He didn't share so I cannot comment. We stat outside watching the angry river flow. Such a cool spot and the staff are awesome.

One of the most delicious concepts on buns. We tried all the vegetarian ones and they were great. The owner was baking herself! A must try. Home made, hand made, local, and simply delicious.

This is most likely my favorite spot in Middlebury, beautiful seating by the river, wonderful homestyle and ‘modern-nordic’ atmosphere, with simply delicious buns!

Delicious!!! My go-to breakfast and lunch spot in the area! Savory buns are out of this world- I love their fresh and seasonal options for sweeter style buns- and their lunch is simple and tasty! Enjoying their food on a nice day on the river is such a delight.I even buy their frozen buns to bring to my family in CT AND ordered the big bun cake for a birthday and it was the hit of the party! Customer service is always stellar. Love this place! Highly recommend.

Delicious homemade food. Love the lunch offerings, the double smashburger might be the best burger in Vermont! Always hard to pick from the menu because all of it sounds so good! Very friendly staff that work really hard. Great ambiance and beautiful deck seating overlooking the otter creek when the weather is nice.

Such an incredible spot. The coffee is always perfect and their savory buns are so tasty. Thoughtful and delicious lunch specials with local ingredients—it’s such a treat to eat here. Great ambience and the service is excellent- this spot is a gathering place for the community and it’s always a cozy and yummy spot to grab a bite.

Really enjoyed lunch here today! The place is so cute and right on the water. The staff was super friendly and accommodating and had the kitchen make one of their dishes vegan for me. It was very good and my partner really enjoyed her vegetarian meal as well. The coffee drinks were great and my partner said the sticky buns were amazing. Please add a vegan bun 🙏 and one vegan option and we’ll be there often!
