Best hospital I have ever been admitted to - so clean, private, and the staff was outstanding! Everyone was extremely kind, environment was bright, positive, and encouraging! Spiritual Guidance stopped in as well as a beautiful dog who brightened my day, thank you so much! My orthopedic surgery was also world class including my stay after which included world class physical therapy that came to my room. I was walking in a week after bilateral knee surgery. It is the oldest hospital in the US, and STILL the best, not one way they could improve, exceptional! Thank you!!!! There is no other like it, not even John Hopkins.

My mother came here for her back surgery, she was up and walking the day after! The doctor was very well with communicating what was happening and what happened during the surgery.

I had surgery done here yesterday. Everyone I had the pleasure of dealing with was so nice and accommodating. Admissions- I had the nicest lady checking me in. Pre admissions testing again all really helpful and friendly- then when you go back to Pre OR room- those nurses were amazing. I was pretty nervous and they really tried to put me at ease.
My surgeon, Dr.Troutman was amazing. The whole procedure seemed to be very smooth.
His team and anesthesia were amazing.
The only thing that seemed abrupt and it might have just been me on anesthesia was the way you are discharged. The nurses are moving so fast with so many different patients in post op. it is ran like a flawless machine and sometimes that can lose its softness perhaps. I will take the nurses I had yesterday over any others.
So all in an all I would definitely recommend this hospital for surgeries. From meeting with admissions to the man wheeling me out- they all were amazing. Thank you!

I just had a baby here and I cannot tell you how great of an experiance this was! Firstly, this is my 4th time giving birth all at different hospitals which were all pretty bad/traumatic experiances until now. Sadly, my last baby passed away 2 days after birth so to say I was nervous/anxious would be an understatement. Not only did they take precautious measures to insure the health of my baby and myself, they were open to my birth plan. They made me feel in charge of my care and provided support, knowlege, resources and compassion. This meant the absolute world to me. Even though they were full of other patients they never made me feel neglected or rushed. The nurses, midwives and the rest of the staff were all amazing (especially Kia) from triage to labor and delivery to recovery. They were attentive without being overbearing and gave a phone number if you needed anything. The only thing subpar was the food but hey its a hospital so not surprising. 10 out of 10 recommend!! Thank you for making this my best experiance for my last child; we could not be more grateful!

I just had my sweet baby at Pennsylvania Hospital.
Least to say my labor was an incredibly humbling and vulnerable experience for me . From triage , to labor and delivery, to recovery I cannot say enough about the physicians and nurses who provided care to me. They were all compassionate, attentive, personable. Overall, I just felt really comfortable in such an uncomfortable situation. I will forever be greatful for each and every one of them. I without a doubt would have a second delivery at Penn.

I was just there for 3 days, The care was amazing, wasn't even waiting long in the ER before being brought back, Even the food there which I know is not the most important thing but the food is like you're being fed at a restaurant. I mean you just literally get too much of it and it's great quality, when I was being served the food made me feel like a pig because there was just so much of it lol. When I was leaving on my discharge day from the hospital I didn't have a primary care physician and the doctor even sent me up with a really good doctor literally right across the street. So yeah going to the hospital totally stinks but I would say that if you are having to go to one I would definitely recommend this hospital definite five stars. Just wanted to also say thank you to the staff on the 5th floor you guys are amazing.

I have been very impressed with the high quality of treatment and customer service as a new Penn Medicine patient in 2021. They made getting the COVID vaccine a quick and positive experience (at TLA). The physicians, nurses and staff I met during a procedure, blood tests and in a virtual consult were all friendly, information and gave great care.

A # of the negative reviews seem to be from folks who do not understand how procedures tend to work in hospitals. I have had very specialized urology procedure done here twice now as an in and out surgery patient... I travel 3 hours to come to Philly for this and apps w Dr. Ariana Smith in PennMed. She and her staff are knowledgeable, articulate, and caring. All of the nurses, staff, doctors in the pre-op and post-op know what they are doing and are friendly and approachable...plus the system they use to keep in contact with your caregiver or friends works beautifully. I have had the same procedure done at a number of hospitals and Pennsylvania Hospital is one of the best. Thank you to all for making my life better

I recently had to visit the ER here, and it was by far much different than I had anticipated!! This was my first visit ever to an ER.. there was no wait, they took me back right away and put me in a room. All the nurses were absolutely wonderful and caring! Everyone explained what was happening and made sure I was comfortable. The doctor who took care of me was wonderful! I cannot say enough good things about it!! Hopefully I won’t need to, but if there ever comes a time when needed again .. this would be my first choice in selecting an ER!!!

Came in with a strange assortment of symptoms and the emergency department managed to figure out what the hell was wrong with me. Took all day, but the doctors were great, nurses were incredible, and the rest of the staff did a great job making me feel at ease despite the crippling pain in my abdomen. I’ve been here at night too, but it’s significantly less crowded during the day, if you have a choice in when to go. They took really good care of me and I’m eternally grateful.

Due to severe complications with a pregnancy, I was admitted to the antepartum unit and lived here for six weeks. Despite the obvious stress and anxiety associated with the situation, I look back on the experience as one of the best in my life. The doctors and nurses in antepartum are amazing, compassionate, and intelligent. They took the time to explain all of my options in detail and never seemed rushed. They were reassuring and yet straightforward so that my husband and I could make informed decisions. My nurses took the time to become friends with me, and always showed the utmost professionalism--never checking a cell phone or showing impatience, for example. Everyone from the maintenance to food service showed exemplary kindness, and I am so grateful. My daughter was born, healthy, at 33 weeks.

So far I absolutely love them I have 3 1/2 more months of prenatal care with them. I didn’t have any prenatal care for he first two trimesters (well half of the second) because I could not get an appointment at hup until my 3rd trimester ( they said they had nothing available at all) so I decided to just give them a call (Pennsylvania hospital) they got me in same week scheduled every kind of appointment I missed the same week , answered every question I had. I’m getting great vibes from my team so far I’m getting less afraid to have this baby

Pennsylvania Hospital will always be my Hospital of choice. Dr. Mellen (who is no longer with us) helped to deliver both my children, who are now 11 and 7. I've always had wonderful experiences with Pennsylvania Hospital. My recent experience was no different. I had a procedure done in the interventional radiology department.
Everything went so smoothly and it was because of the wonderful staff at Penn. I checked in with Beth and she was an absolute gem. I didn't have the referral I needed for the procedure and she was quickly able to obtain it with the help of her manager. When I was called to the back, nurse Lawrence was very attentive, helpful and informative. He was great! Dr. Neil Harrison is an awesome doctor. He explained, very thoroughly, exactly what would be taking place. He explained all risks as well. He put me at ease. The procedure went well.
Nurse Dawn attended to me after the procedure and she was amazing! She was also very attentive and helpful with whatever I needed. I truly thank God for the wonderful staff He had assisting me through this serious procedure.

In particular the nurses Cecilia, Michelle, and Sara were amazing! Kind, gentle, attentive and gave a lot of guidance and support.

I gave birth to my son six weeks ago and I'm thankful we chose Pennsylvania Hospital. I have few complaints and a ton of compliments. The staff is wonderful and I gave birth with the assistance of the midwives. Everyone was helpful and had a great attitude. I was kept very comfortable and my mother was very surprised at how nice my room was!
