My son and I found this fabulous place by accident and when we walked in the door we stopped in our tracks, softly exclaimed "Whoa..." and then proceeded to spend not nearly enough time finding treasures to keep and share. If you love books this is Nirvana. Something for every reader no matter their age or interest. Get there!

A used book lover's wet dream. My partner and I never fail to find ARMLOADS of interesting, fascinating and mind-blowing books here. Very affordable and the staff are down to earth and super interesting to talk with. Absolutely among the best shops ever.

Awesome, awesome place. If you're like me, you usually avoid huge used bookstores because of how chaotic they often are. Glad I fought that instinct here. Everything is very well organized and easy to find, while maintaining all of the appeal (creaky shelves and floors, etc). Very friendly owner who has good stories about the area ane elsewhere.

I love this place. I’ve been twice now and have had amazing experiences both times. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The prices are fantastic. And they have cool editions of books and I always end up buying copies of books I already own, lol. 10/5 stars.

You walk into Monroe Street Books. On your direct left is a humbly sized curated shelf of politically and culturally relevant books. Before you are 12-foot high bookshelves teeming with new stories waiting to be discovered. The staff are helpful and smart. You will wish you could spend your whole day hunting through the stacks.

You could go into this store for a whole day and not come out having found all of the books you want. Absolutely massive selection! Friendly staff! Absolute must if you're in the area.

The employees and owner were all super- nice, pleasant and helpful. I found a treasure trove of children's books. There are many books in a wide variety of genres. There are recent publications but also some very old volumes. No restroom. Prices are reasonable. Call to verify post- COVID hours. A top place to check regularly if you are a collector or a local or both.

Great bookstore. I come by whenever I am in the area and buy a stack of books. Often has a discount for buying many. Rare finds! The best folklore/mythology section I've ever found in a bookstore. Lots of niche interests such as Ozark folklore and independent folklore publications. The sci fi and classics sections also have a great selection. They do take card.

I enjoy stopping here when i travel that way. Buyer of small and large collection of books. It can be a little overwhelming once you see the floor to ceiling selection so go when you have an hour just to look because you never know what you will find until you start digging.

I stopped in and looked through the aisles of floor to ceiling shelves. A terrific selection of books, diverse subjects, collectibles and current reads. Gad a witty conversation with the man up front. I am going back soon.

Books everywhere the eye can see. If you love books, it is a paradise. Be prepared to browse all over the store. There is no public restroom so keep that in mind. Otherwise, enjoy!

One of Vermont's most unique places. This is the largest used bookstore in Vermont and honestly the best bookstore I've ever been in. Great prices, friendly staff, hundreds upon hundreds of thousands of books in here, bookshelves that tower 15 feet above your head, getting around is like a maze. Many hidden treasures. Do yourself a favor and stop in here.

If you think old libraries with floor to ceiling book shelves are cool, then you'd love to be able to buy those books and take them home too. This place has it all, thousands of books, floor to ceiling, every genre you can imagine and a few you never thought existed. Don't miss the place either, it's just before you get to Middlebury when you're heading down rte 7.
