I've worked at The Residence at Otter Creek for over a decade and I love my job and the people I work for. The residents living here are generous and engaging. My co-workers are fun to work with. The building and grounds are beautiful. Otter Creek is a wonderful place to work and live!

My dad has been here for eight years. We interviewed every senior residence in the area when he moved up here from New Jersey. Best decision we ever made. The staff is AMAZING and dad has thrived here, especially since entering the assisted living program. By the way, the food is OUTSTANDING as well. Extremely well run residence and we've never looked back! So very grateful!!!

My aunt has been a resident for nearly 2 years and she loves it! When I need senior living I want to be there. The food is excellent, there are so many activities - something for everyone. Not to mention the apartments are quite nice and accessible. You have to see it to appreciate what a wonderful living experience is provided. I guess some people won’t be happy in heaven, but for most this is a great place!

When I think about The Residence at Otter Creek, so many things come to mind: the invigorating Vermont air, the bucolic setting, the nearness of Middlebury, the weekly New Yorker discussions, the way even the dogs seem to have a bounce in their step. But above all something harder to pinpoint: a sense of neighborliness, how you can be taking a solitary stroll one minute and the next find yourself deep in a fascinating, even metaphysical (some actual poets live here) conversation. It seems as if everybody, residents and staff alike, wants to make sure even shy introverts feel included; I remember early on sitting at a table of strangers and midway through dinner hearing myself blurt out, "I'm having the most wonderful time!" And when four Boston relatives of mine came for a visit, I witnessed an instantaneous lovefest between them and the Residence's residents. It's daily encounters like these -- moments of kindness and goodwill -- that so please my septuagenarian heart.

Communication to family members both from the Residence in Middlebury and the Corporation have been regular and thorough.

Never been there. Ann's five star review is so good and Robert's one star review gets nothing? Why is that? Doesn't make me feel too good about the place!
Ann loved it. Robert hated it? Why??

The worst place I’ve ever worked at. They had a very bad staffing problems. Why? Was it because the staff were terrible at their jobs and were fired. Nope, everyone keeps quitting. No one stays because how things are run. All because of the management incompetence. The workers do all the work while the bosses sit back, take long strolls in the hallways while they drink their coffee. Have “ meetings”at the front desk to discuss whatever boring event happen at home the previous day. But god forbid you’re not management and say hi to your coworker for more than 2 seconds. They never listen or respect their workers. They’re rude and make fun of them behind their backs. They use them like slaves and pay them less then outside temporarily hires. The management have a poor communication problem. Lie to and blame the staff whenever things get ugly. Never accept any of the responsibilities. A ton of good people came and went. Most of the terrible managers are still in charge… Also, downstairs (Haven) unit. They have a problem with pipes making loud banging sounds throughout the night. It keeps the residences up. I left a couple years ago but I guarantee you the pipes still make a sound. Before I left, everyone I talked to hated the food. Especially the residents. If you love your parents don’t stick them here because of that. They charge $20 for a meal. That’s quality isn’t worth $20, maybe $5

There is good though. While I was working there. The company was professional. It wasn’t bad to wor for them. It was just the mangers. The company set up training course and classes with experience people for us to learn. Recently the company bump everyone’s pay significantly. Now everyone has a decent wage. While I worked there. They gave us free lunches and dinners. Which was awesomeThe company did paid us 8 hours extra every holiday. They gave us generous personal time off. Including 3 days sick and personal days. Two week off that you can use later on the year. Which builds the longer you’ve worked for the company. They also let cash a percentage any pto you have by the end of year. Also gave us gifts on Christmas and thanksgiving.

Never got paid any bonuses during the 2020-2021 pandemic though. Only thank you sighs. It was a frustrating time for the everyone. Majority of business were closed. Majority of people were at home(being paid $600 a week or more). While we continue to worked and made significantly less. We kept hearing other companies paying their staff bonuses for working through that tough time. But all we got thank you signs that said we were hero’s. I guess that’s something…
