The Coachman Restaurant and Lounge

Service is prompt and friendly. My coffee cup never went empty. Chef salad was fresh and the Dijon mustard dressing made for a great topping. Potato salad has a nice zing and they give you a good portion.

Wonderful environment. The tenderloin was AMAZING!! And.. the cheese sauce was so good!! My husband had the grouper he said it was pretty good as well. Highly recommend. I love the fact they support our heroes!!

Good variety on the menu, waiter was friendly and quick to fill drinks. Beers are huge, bloody Marys are fantastic, and very reasonably priced. Someone ordered a Red Snapper and they brought one that was apparently a different recipe. She looked it up, he brought the one she was looking for, and he didn't even charge her. We ordered white cod, grouper, fish and chips, steak, and a Ruben. Everyone loved their food and didn't break the bank. No complaints and definitely will return.

Passable Ruben. Other food was good. The Ruben looks like they don't know how to griddle the sandwich and they put the Rye in a toaster and built the sandwich after.

One of the best prime ribs I've had! Steamed broccoli was delicious, well seasoned and the pasta salad was really good as well... I wish I would have taken pictures because the menu has none but this is definitely the spot that hits the spot just right. Service was great with a homey atmosphere. This is definitely not a visit only once type of place... just left and ready to go back.

I was in town on business and the hotel front desk told me to come here and explained that “everything on the menu is good”. I believe them now. This place is truly fantastic. The service was as good as it could possibly be. Very friendly, very knowledgeable and was happy to make suggestions. I took her advice and ordered fried mushy and prime rib. It was excellent and I wasn’t able to finish because they give a lot of food. I also ordered a Bloody Mary which was also excellent. I wish I lived closer to this place or traveled to Indiana more because I would definitely go out of my way to go here again. I understand this is family owned and that really shows. I love this place.

The Coachman was highly recommended by the desk clerk at our hotel so we tried it. The salad bar was filled with favorites. Vegetable Beef soup was fantastic! We had the Smothered Chicken Dinner and Fish & Chips for dinner and both were so good. We were very tempted by the dessert bar but refrained. All the staff we spoke with were very friendly and knowledgeable. Candy was our excellent server. We plan to return next time we're passing through!

We have driven past The Coachman for years, and tonight was our first time to visit. What a gem! The service was great, and the outdoor seating was perfect! The salads were cold and fresh! I had the steak-on-a-stick, and it was cooked to perfection! My husband had the fried grouper and shrimp, both were tender and crispy. We will be back!

On a very busy Friday night we wanted something we don't often get...Prime Rib.

The Coachman has been around for many years and one of their specialty items just happens to be Prime Rib and it was fantastic. Three of us had the Prime Rib & they were seasoned perfectly, cooked medium rare as requested and excellent all the way around. One of us had the Broiled Cod and that was very good as well.

The baked potato was great as well.

Rest rooms were clean and our Server, (Rhonda), did an outstanding job.

I was in town for the National FFA convention and expo and my family decided to go get supper there. The food was great all in general. The lady serving us was just a different vibe. She came to us like she knew us and started making jokes which made us feel welcomed. It was busy when we went and that’s not the restaurants fault at all. They handled the situation very well anyway. Great everything in this restaurant and I would 💯recommend it.

Was staying at a nearby hotel, didn't want to drive anywhere for dinner, so took a walk.
Gas station food--nope. Sub sandwich joint--nope again. Almost gave up after seeing a closed restaurant...then I saw a sign that said The Coachman Restaurant. Classy, old school name. I made my decision right after walking in the front door. Funky, cozy bar and restaurant with a neighborhood vibe in an area you'd never expect such a place. Friendly hostess seated me at my requested table, a booth. Outdoor seating available. I'm eating my appetizer as I type this, breaded calamari with a glass of wine. Friendly waiter. Don't need to wait to finish my meal to submit this review. I highly recommend this cozy old-style restaurant and bar. Great music!

Had a great experience this evening! Friendly staff, great food at a fair price. We had fried mushrooms, steak, blackened salmon and salads. Will def be back!

Our first time here. We sat in the bar with social distancing in place. We didn't sit at the bar, but cocktail tables that were located in the bar. I should do a better job of remembering servers names. But, this time I don't remember but she did an awesome job at our table. Explain the menu, explain the beer list and in general had great service. I had the cod from the light menu with green beans and mashed potatoes as sides. The meal was very tasty. I also had the bread pudding for dessert, which was very good. I am sure you won't be disappointed if you go here for a meal and/or drinks.

Great food! Fried mushrooms 🍄 are fantastic! And if you like French onion soup you have to try theirs! Their porterhouse 🥩 pork chop was so good and juicy 😋

Had a fantastic meal outside and Megan was awesome.

We sat in TC's area tonight and had a fabulous time. Potato skins are great & the carrot cake was to die for. Can't wait to try the pecan pie cheesecake!!!

Excellent service! Great food, and lots of it, for little money! Niece had prime rib, look great! I had fish and chips. Cheesecake for dessert with strawberries....yum! I am stuffed, and Niece took food back to her hotel. Restaurant recommended by Holiday Inn by airport, and they were right about the place!
Owner is an Marine Veteran! Thank you for your service! Your tribute to the Military is amazing!!!! Don't change a thing, it's the perfect place to eat! Right next to Plainfield Harley Davidson. I will be back, when in your neck of the woods again!

As I was looking for a hotel to stay at I saw this restaurant and it looked good. So glad I made the choice.
We sat at the bar. People already sitting gladly moved over to let the two of us sit. The bartender Lori welcomed us and got us our drinks.
We ordered appetizers and settled in.
Both visitors and locals stop by this place which has been around for years!
We ordered and got our main meals and everything we ordered was sooo good!

If I lived in this area I would come back for sure!

This staff was wonderful. Small town friendly. Watching them work together, they really look like they love their jobs and coworkers. Food was good too! Prime rib was a 9 out of 10.

We stayed nearby in a hotel and after reading the reviews decided to try the coachman out! I’m so glad we did. I got the salad, blackened walleye, and baked potato. I absolutely loved the ranch and croutons! The potato was perfectly cooked, the fish was sooo good but I had a lot of bones in it. My fiancé had the salad,smothered chicken and twice baked potato, he loved the salad but said everything else was just ok. I wish we lived closer because I would love to come back!

My 6 oz. Filet was wonderful and cooked as ordered. Others in our party ordered the lasagna, chicken fettuccine Alfredo and the salmon. All agreed that the portion size was good and the food flavorful. We will go again when we are in the area.
