Had a really good time in the museum. Very insightful with many wonderful exhibits. Very friendly and courteous staff. Also very interactive with not only the exhibits upstairs but also in the lower level where it's more Hands-On for younger patrons of the museum.

Beautiful Museum. Quiet, clean, lots of space, and seating around to sit and study the art. Very kid friendly, with little activities spread throughout. Great experience!

The museum was very cool. They had lots of wonderful art. The children's area was surprisingly large and very fun. The seasonal train exhibit was very well made and beautiful.

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit. The staff was rather stalkerish. I'm a Black woman with 10 tattoos. Nine of them were visible. I guess I stood out. Nonetheless they were very friendly and helpful. The display rooms are very deceptive in size. Just when you think you're at the end another nook and cranny pops up for you to explore. Whoever designed the second floor was also a master of deception. Rooms that look tiny open up when you turn the corner. I was happily exhausted by the time my phone died and I could no longer take pictures. There's a very interesting film playing that you have to listen to. It's different native people speaking about the art they create. I will return to this museum. If you love beautiful native art and history and you're in Indianapolis check them out.

The museum is fascinating ESPECIALLY for the Native American floor! I found this museum on Google while trying to find fun things to do in IN… I really wish more places throughout the US dedicate more exhibitions to Native and the Indigenous communities that exist throughout North America.
I learned soo much about their cultures and their history.
And am eager to learn more…

Jingle Rails is an amazing holiday experience. A unique view of Indianapolis and other states and miniatures, surrounded by amazing model trains.

Our first trip to this museum and we all loved it! Definitely more of a look and don't touch kind of museum. I also asked about kid classes upfront, but they had never heard of that type of thing. We homeschool and many places offer a once a month or every other week classes to get a little more in depth and hands on with the material. Generally they are an extra charge, but usually $10-$15 a class. So I would be interested in these type of classes at the Eiteljorg, or offering suggestions on types they could do.

The model train display was the best I've ever seen. I recommend you take the free guided tour.

Love the changes made upstairs, the new modern pieces, and the interactive elements added for the little ones 😊

We came for the holiday themed trains and were really impressed! They put a ton of detail in to each set, and it's great to see how they've recreated so many pieces of iconic American landscapes. Our kids really liked walking around and exploring the different scenes. Speaking of kids, the downstairs kids area of the museum is great for little ones. They have lots of hands-on toys that are perfect for younger kids. They would have spent hours down there! Also, parking is free if you park in the main underground garage and get your ticket validated in the museum.

Beautiful artwork throughout. The facility is gorgeous, and the thoughtful arrangements of the exhibits is tasteful. Simple, interesting and sophisticated. The stories of the people and the beauty of the art make this a great place to spend a morning. I am glad we visited this museum.

Very neat place. Also, on the lower level, there's a great place for kids to play and have fun. We had a great time and spent about an hour afterward just letting the kids enjoy the playroom area. It was a fun day for everyone.

I've been here a couple of times, and it's pretty neat. It's one of those odd places that you find from time to time that don't quite fit in with their location. A museum that has absolutely nothing to do with Indiana, right smack dab in the middle of Indiana. But, I'll still enjoy it anyway! It is nice not having to travel out west to see something like this. Lots of interesting pieces, ranging from the 1800s to modern times (within the past few years). It's a good idea to make sure you have several hours to wander around, especially if you're someone who likes to read all the placards. The parking is pretty spendy, so if you are local, and there's a decent chance you'll return within a year, buying the membership is pretty much a no-brainer.

We really enjoyed this museum. The Native American and Western art was vibrant and beautiful. The bronze sculptures were my favorite (inside and outside!). The kids area in the basement is really fun, and I think for all ages — don't miss it. The museum is cool, spacious, clean and staffed by friendly people. We enjoyed walking through the garden down to the river walk. Great location.

Beautiful exhibits. You'd need a whole day for this visit. Wonderful learning experience. We walked out appreciating the Indian culture even more than we've had before (in the past, visited many cultural sites in the Western and Eastern states). This is a great place to start when exploring the life and culture of different tribes in Indiana.
Also, we got to see the Andy Warhol's exhibit, which was very interesting - I've always wondered what was his connection to American Indians.

Phenomenal place. Superbly educational, remarkably friendly staff, incredible pieces within formative labeling as far as dates artists and materials used! Affordable value, certainly recommend! Parking is free and there is a program for low income families, we donated to that cause. Paddle boats and a State Park all close proximity to museum, make a whole day of learning about resislience, history, triumph, and diligence!

The collections are amazing. I highly recommend coming by for a visit. I especially enjoyed the children’s areas where there are more interactive displays. There’s a lovely bistro inside where you can get lunch or a cup of coffee, and look out onto the grounds. The customer service is great.
