Every was friendly & welcoming. Taken straight back to get X-rays. Saw the PA first followed by Dr Berend. Everything was explained clearly & concisely. Given the opportunity to ask questions. The nurse then came in to discuss scheduling of knee replacement & options. PA came back to aspirate the knee & inject steroids which he did & not too uncomfortable. I felt very comfortable & that I was in good hands.

I wish whoever trains your staff could train the world on customer service. They are fantastic! Also, love the music you have. I know it's small thing but takes your mind off things. They answered all my questions, and i had a lot.
Didn't talk down to me, just explained things clearly and ensured me i was in good hands. Also to call if i thought of anything else. I just wish i had gone sooner. Dr Berend is a busy man, so i am driving to Bloomington for surgery so I don't have to wait.

Dr Berend and his staff are the best. And 5 years post double knee replacement I feel great. Having my surgeries, and having them at Midwest with Dr Berend was one of the best decisions of my life.

Dr Michael Berend’s is not only a brilliant surgeon but a compassionate doctor and human being. I could barely walk when I first came to MCJR. I had both knees fully replaced by Dr Berends. Dr. Berend did partial knee replacements in both knees 5 years ago. I healed quickly. Yesterday I saw Dr Berend for pain in my right knee and leg. He and his staff again provided excellent care from check in to check out. He determined my pain to be spine related and. referred me to a doctor on his spine
team. I have six family members who also trust Dr.Berend with their ortho care. He is the best!

Dr Michael Berend was my surgeon for Total Right Knee Replacement. Hands down a phenomenal surgeon, knowledgeable and excellent chair side mannerism. I can’t say enough good on Dr Berend and staff. With such an extensive surgery and traumatic ordeal they made me comfortable every step of the way. I’m living life again and walking wonderfully, something I never dreamed would happen again. Dr.B is an orthopedic knee surgery guru! his work is outstanding! That’s the latest picture of my knee and scar that healed beautifully and what a beautiful scar it is! You can’t get out of it without a scar, but why not have one that you can love! This knee was crooked knock kneed and now it’s straight. I saw him today September 12 2023 for my 12 week check up no scar tissue the new knee is good! I don’t have to see him for a year. I’m doing amazingly well Dr.Berend is a skilled, highly talented and gifted surgeon. I have to have my left knee removed and I’m thinking about doing that on December 14 2023. I hope it turns out as well as the right knee. The facility is beautiful and well kept, clean and the staff looks professional as well.
Pain for most of us is mandatory, but the suffering is optional you don’t have to suffer. They were there for me when I called needing pain meds. They understood that there was gonna be some discomfort and I didn’t have to fight a battle to try to get meds. Just depends on the patient but you’re feeling better in a few weeks. I was walking the very first day and watering the flowers on my porch by the third day, you have to take it easy you have to rest and you have to eat well and you have to try to bend and straighten the knee. I rested a week then the hard work began. it’s tough but not impossible. In the beginning. It’s best to take a pain med. If you can have a nurse come in and slowly start to strengthen. You must do some type of physical therapy. The surgeon’s work is done, recovery is up to you.
His staff is amazing Kurt, Haley, and Robin the nurse in recovery. I can’t thank them enough. ❤
The anesthesiologist perfection..He has a well trained knowledgeable staff I would never go anywhere else. I so thankful I found Dr. Berend and I found him on my own doing my own research..he was not referred to me by anyone or any doctor..most of Indy’s doctors will refer you to OrthoIndy and I guess that’s fine.
I can’t comment on that. I just know I’m pleased with my selection . It is my belief that Dr. Berend is one of the best surgeons in Indiana in the field of orthopedic surgery. ❤❤

Kurt, the Physicians Assistant, is incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, just all around great at his job.
Dr Berend is world-class, globally recognized and just an absolute wonderful individual. His specialized knowledge and experience is outrageous.

And finally one big item I look for in any facility is how clean is their environment. I not talking superficial cleaning, I mean in the deep corners, dust, lighting, polished floors, equipment…I mean everything. Every visit, every time - sparkling!!

I had been on crutches for 4 months, and already had one surgery, when I had first appointment with Dr. Berend. I have never felt so comfortable and at ease with a doctor. He was very detailed, and the staff is amazing! I am now able to walk and pain free! It has been a long road, and Dr. Berend and his staff have been beyond amazing!

Just had my 3 month check after my Right Knee replacement. I can’t express how pleased I’ve been with Dr. Berend and his entire team. They’ve thought of every little detail and are truly there to make your experience the best possible. The whole team displayed exceptional listening skills when putting forth my questions and concerns. Recovery though not exactly a walk in the park seemed quite simple because of the foresight and education provided by this group. This was my first visit but I could tell it was very different from other experiences. The staff was all very friendly and conversational. Dr. Berend has a calming presence with a sense of humor. He did not shy away from or become irritated with my numerous questions. His PA was just as attentive and easy to talk to!

I had knee replacement 2 weeks ago, and I've been very impressed with Dr. Berend and his team! I feel like he genuinely listened to me and cares about my recovery. He put me at ease and the surgery went smoothly!

My entire experience at the Midwest Center for Joint Replacement was positive. All the personnel are professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. This was not my first appointment since I had previously had a knee replacement. I appreciated that I initially met with Kurt Kramer, PA-C, the assistant I worked with previously. As always, Dr Berend was personable, listened well, and provided appropriate medical care. I highly recommend this practice.

We drive 2 1/2 hours to his office. That is how much we respect and trust Dr. Berends opinion on my hip replacement surgery that he did about 7 years ago. No one in fort wayne had the ability to do the type of hip replacement I needed. I am very blessed to have had him doing my surgery. Plus he is very interested just to talk too.

Dr Berend cares about quality of life, not just living. He and all the staff ask questions, communicate with each other, and concerned themselves with my needs. I’ve never had such great attention and availability to reach out to address concerns, as needed, during and after my knee replacement. Outpatient surgery went smoothly and my 1 year follow-up confirmed I’m doing well. Not enough words to express my satisfaction and gratitude!

Wonderful results on my partial knee replacement. Courteous and friendly staff. I tell all my friends who complain about their hurting knee to see Dr Berrend. An RN and my doctor highly recommended him and I feel blessed to have had him as my surgeon. I have walked beaches and in National parks since he fixed my arthritic knee.
