Dr Girod is great. Very personable, takes her time with you and makes sure you get your questions answered.

I've always had good care here. Mostly lab work, but very convenient with location.

While I really appreciate our doctor (David Lentz), my father had a horrible experience with a lab tech this morning. My mother's health is failing and our family has been facing difficult future decisions for the care of both mom and dad. The lab tech this morning was doing small talk with my dad and a specific facility that we were very interested in came up. The lab tech straight out told my 86 year old father that they should never go to that facility due to issues her aunt had years ago. This very much upset both of my parents as dad shared this experience with mom later.

We have spent weeks in researching facilities as well as walking through the difficult conversations of transition with my parents. It's been very emotional but they were accepting of the next steps.

Now this lab tech throws a wrench in the works by telling my dad not to go to a specific facility. My folks are under enough stress as it is. The LAST thing we needed was a lab tech to act so unprofessionally as to upset my folks.

I've place a call with BMA to talk with a supervisor, but no one has responded. So I'll share it here for all to read. I suppose my folks will need to be accompanied to a basic lab session to insure an employee doesn't further get into personal details with my parents.

Lab opens at 8:00. I got there at 7:45 and sat in the waiting area until 8:15. The receptionist was there on time but no one else was there yet!!
This is the SEOND time in 6 months the staff was this late when I was there in plenty of time. Very very unprofessional. At 8:15 I left. I have no idea when they showed up but I am done with them.
I posted ONE star, THREE show on my post?

This is the SLOWEST Dr. Office I have ever been to! You can't be late or they will reschedule you but you can have an appt at a certain time and an hour later still not be seen. Every. Single. Appointment!! The waiting area never has anyone else in it and you will still wait over an hour to see the Dr. I would not recommend this office to anyone unless you want a Dr. visit that lasts 3 hours with 2 hours and 45 minutes of that being wait time.

I am supposed to have a cta scan. It’s been over a week and I haven’t heard anything. I called and left a message with Dr. Ackers office asking if it had been scheduled yet. The recording said they would get back with me that day or the next…NOTHING!! No return call and It’s impossible to talk to a real person anymore!! SO FRUSTRATING!!!!!!

Stay away is my advice. I took my 93 year old neighbor to Brooklyn Medical for a Coumadin check. We went to the area to register and were not acknowledged by even one of the four women behind the counter. Not one of them said , I’ll be with you in a minute but all four looked at us and knew we were there. We stood there for seven minutes before we were attended to by a rude, unprofessional woman who took our card and told us to wait.
The first lab tech poked my neighbors finger then spent ten minutes trying to get the machine to work/register before she figured out it might be the batteries which she didn’t have any replacements for. Another tech was called in, batteries were replaced, my neighbor was poked again, that tech tried to get the machine to work/register for another ten minutes before getting a different one then poking my neighbor the third time. All this without a single acknowledgment to the 93 year old woman in the chair. Not once saying, hello, what they were doing, what the problem was etc. Both techs showed a total lack of professionalism, kindness or common curtesy. We then went to the doctor appointment, gave our info to the girl and waited 15 minutes for him to show. He walks in, doesn’t say hello to my neighbor, his patient, or introduce himself to me, sits down and asks what’s going on to which I repeat everything the girl had written which he obviously had not read. He listens to her lungs, says they sound “pretty good” , looks in her ears and goes to the door to leave. I ask about her stomach/bowel issue and he decides then to have a CBC done. There was not a, we will see what’s going on, no addressing the stomach issues with feeling the bowel area etc. We go back to the lab, my neighbor tells the girl they draw blood from the vein in her hand. She ignores this and sticks her in the arm, moving the needle repeatedly trying to find the vein. This was painful and she was told repeatedly it was painful. She got a bit of blood and said,” I think this is enough” , it wasn’t. After five attempts, needle in and out, she calls in another tech who says nothing to either of us and goes about trying to draw blood, finally using the vein in the hand that she was told of at the start.
There is nothing kind I can say about anyone we encountered nor was there any kindness shown to my 93 year old neighbor. Not one ounce of professionalism in the whole lot of them which is pathetic. It is in the best interest of the owners of Brooklyn Medical to do an assessment of their employees, all of them, doctors included. Hire someone that can conduct classes on professionalism in the workplace, the treatment of people, especially those that are ill and coming to your business for help and then require everyone to attend and put into practice what they are taught. Brooklyn Medical treats people bad. Bad, from the moment you first enter the front door to exiting it. There was not an ounce of professionalism or kindness shown by anyone employed there.
Not one person. Unreal. I worked with the public my whole life. This is not how you do it, not how you treat people.
My advice? Stay away. There are far too many other places that would love your business. There is no need to settle for the lack of professionalism and basic politeness shown at Brooklyn Medical.
I am rating one star because you cannot put a negative.

I’ve been a patient here for over 40 years my first Dr retired and have liked my new Dr. Until he hired a new receptionist a apparent relative. She is the most rudest individual I’ve encountered in a long time. If you don’t have compassion why work in a environment that’s only that!!!!

Can someone please explain to me why when a doctor talks to you for10 minutes, that it takes 2 hours of waiting when there are only 5 people ahead of you in the lobby (3 patient rooms)
Tonight is the last time. There must be better options out there than BMA.

Worst medical place I have ever been 40 minutes just to get registered and almost three hours to see a doctor. They really need to put a second doctor on hand in there after hours rapid med, nothing rapid about it.
