Salt Water Grille

The food was delicious and the service spot on. We have the clam chower and fish and chips and both were fresh. The fish was flakey, the chowder creamy.

Such a wonderful place to go! Always so accommodating, especially last minute to our larger groups. Food has never once disappointed me and the prices are amazing. Love it here!

Fell in love with this place and kept going back. It's tucked away but the best food and most friendly staff. Lauren is AMAZING and knew everything about their GF offerings....which is rare. A+++++

What an oasis in a sea of blah, so-so restaurants today….the owners were hands on, super friendly and so hospitable. We felt at home the minute we arrived - Jack, one of the owners, was bartending and was quite entertaining on his own - think Sam at Cheers, but funnier. And the chef/owner Pat came out and we were able to visit < he recommended the blackened haddock tacos with chipotle aioli and pickled red onions - I’m so glad I listened to him! (Always listen to the chef recommendations!). We started with the firecracker shrimp - excellent. We had to sample the fish chowder of course - when in Gloucester….so I had the tacos amd my partner had the Clam

Great service and incredible food! We had the Crabcakes appetizer and Pan Seared Halibut, and they were both delicious! This is a must stop!

A great place to get a bite to eat and drink. My bartender Howard was awesome, all of the workers were super nice. The food was delicious and my drink was too.

We brought a large group of people and the servers and management team went above and beyond for us. Great service, great food and great people!

2024 - So happy to see Saltwater Grille back again this spring! The parking lot has been jammed night and day and have dropped by for lunch and dinner!

Saltwater has a great team, Colleen is a server and host, always has a smile and when serving she is there before you need her - she's fantastic! Jack, one of the owners is always visible, so friendly and wanting to know how things are and the chef/co-owner is there behind the scenes cooking up some great meals! LOVE they have daily specials, love that - keeps things fresh and we usually order one basic menu item and a special! Their caesar salad is a mainstay and so far have had the haddock sandwich with onion rings and baked scallops with squash - both amazing!

Food and drinks are consistently good - plus know that everyone says they are here to make you happy and they really do! Tweaks never upset them...and I usually ask for one or two!

Keep up the great work and we'll see you again soon!

2023 - Welcome back Salt Water, so happy you were able to re-open and it's wonderful seeing the parking lot packed every night!

We dined here when they opened in 2021 where the food, service and ambiance got high marks. We loved the food...the seafood and burgers were our favs. This location used to be a Friendly's and the new owners poured a lot of money into making this place, making it feel like home. It has a great bar and several seating options. Sadly they were unable to open in 2022 due to the sudden passing of one their owners, who happened to be the chef.

Was so happy to see the restaurant re-open this year...and so strong! We stopped in for dinner last night to a full, highly organized dining room - so nice to see so many people there on a Wednesday night. We shared calamari (excellent with banana peppers and marinara sauce) and baked haddock (also delicious). Cocktail list was very creative using local names and landmarks plus the drinks were excellent too! The only thing we wished was on the dinner menu was a fish sandwich, it goes hand in hand with a Lobster Roll in Gloucester. Was fantastic though and we will be back throughout the summer!

PS: Excited to learn they will be open 7 days a week!

Great first impression - we loved this place. Fish tacos, lobster roll, clam chowder... Yum. Decent selection of beers and seltzers on tap. Friendly service too. Cat was a great server and Jack the bartender was very sweet. Will return if we end up back in the area. Thanks a bunch!

Very impressed with the reopening!

The food was all fantastic; I got to taste the California burger, blackened salmon, and baked haddock. The burger was cooked exactly as expected, and the fish was as fresh as can be. Plenty of options for different burgers/sandwiches, as well as a variety of other entrees including tacos, salmon over tortellini, or fried seafood dishes. Nice to see a handful of vegetarian options as well!

Portions are entirely sufficient, you will never leave hungry!

In terms of drinks, I could only find the wine menu on the website, but they do have a drink menu in the venue with a nice selection of cocktails.

The atmosphere is classy and tasteful, with lots of relevant artwork around the restaurant. Plenty of parking on-site as well. Easy location to reach, being one of the first things you see when when descending rt 128 from the A. Piatt Andrew Bridge.

The cost is very competitive with other restaurants of similar caliber in the area! My party spent just under $50 per person after a healthy tip, each with an entree and two drinks. Very reasonable!

Great spot for fresh seafood and there is a bar even though I didn’t have a drink.

Went to Salt Water Grille for the first time this weekend. Had a great experience with a family of 4 and the food was awesome! Great spot and accessible so you don’t have to worry about Main St or Rogers parking! We’ll be back soon!

Long lines at the more known seafood restaurants in Gloucester redirected us to this establishment, and my are we glad they did!! Best seafood and main entrees, appetizers, sandwich and salad selections! Nice bar area. Great ambiance with raised tables and chairs and 2 tv screens. The owner came to the tables to see if we were enjoying our meal and if there was anything he could do. He was very sincere and engaging. Friendly and accomadating wait staff. Very short wait for a table. Wonderful time! We'll frequent this restaurant more often!! Thank you!!

Wasn't going to pay the prices of those waterfront restaurants and found this gem. The Clam chowder was to die for. My friend had the seafood casserole? Came baked in a bowl. It was so good. The cod, scallops.... I had a lobster roll - not a big one but still reasonably priced and very good. Highly recommend. Its a little tricky getting there. Just off the traffic circle.

Nice comfortable restaurant where you would be fine ordering a burger or an upscale seafood plate. While there is a full bar it seems like a "food forward" establishment. The hostess thanked us for coming and had our table set up before we arrive. Our waitperson, Liz, was friendly and efficient, food was served quickly. Portions were more than ample and well prepared. We visit Gloucester annually and hope to dine here next year.

Excellent food . Excellent service a great place to eat out at.

Four of us went, we had haddock chowder, smash burger, shrimp scampi, tri plate of seafood and fried clams. Also had cocktails. No one complained, we all loved what we ordered and the staff was great!
