Cove Surf and Turf

First time eating here and I must say it will not be my last. This restaurant is conveniently located15 minutes from my house and the food is outstanding along with the host and chef who both welcomed us upon walking in. Our food and drink order was taken very fast and just as fast as it was taken our food was out in front of us ready to enjoy. I could not find one complaint about our food or drinks it was all made perfectly. I highly recommend stopping in and giving the cove surf and turf a try if you have yet to you will not be disappointed.

My family is from New England, I've been a southern transplant since I was a toddler, but I wanted to surprise my mom with some traditional New England clam cakes and my grandpa's specialty French meat pie for Thanksgiving dinner (and added New England clam chowder for good measure). Thank you so much for making this possible by shipping all the way to NC. It was packed completely frozen, and with the utmost care! I admit, I snuck a couple clam cakes to try before the holiday. 🙈 OMG......DELICIOUS!! I will be ordering again!!

I love absolutely everything about cove surf and turf. The food, the service, the atmosphere. It is all amazing! The real star of the show is the food. I love that the fish and chips are always super hot and crispy. The clam chowder is full of clams. I have never had a meal that I didn't like there. The staff is so friendly and accommodating every single time we go, even the takeout staff.

Laid back, comfortable atmosphere. I've been to plenty of seafood places. And honestly, they have the best clam cakes I've ever eaten. So good. Fresh, delicious, and it'll have you asking for more. I'm actually going back again there today for the third time with my girlfriend to celebrate our anniversary. You've made a customer for life.

How we have never stumbled upon this amazing place is beyond me!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ without question!
We have been to Cove Surf and Turf twice and both times have been very pleased. Our server Diana is genuinely kind, the food is delicious and the restaurant, nice and clean. The complimentary clamcakes are a nice touch, and a precursor to a wonderful main dish. The steak tips were marinated and cooked to perfection, with a perfect baked potato, the fried clams, delicious! The little bar is adorable, and although we've never been in the warmer weather, it looks like it would be a lot of fun! Both visits have been on a Sunday evening, and after working all weekend, it's definitely a nice place to unwind, with a nice glass of wind and a wonderful meal.. Tell your friends, this place is great!!

I had a wonderful dining experience last Saturday night.
It's wonderful to have not only a local chef but amazing locally sourced seafood. Love the interior with a new, small but cozy bar area. Fun vibe. Very good wine selections and fun cocktails. A not so hidden gem in the south end of New Bedford! Front of the house staff top notch as well! As a local, definitely returning!

This place is definitely a hidden gem! The food is always outstanding. Their onion rings are the best around! Free complimentary clam cakes start every meal which are always warm and delicious. The atmosphere could use some updating but I did recently read there are plans for that in the future. We go back time and time again and have yet to have a bad meal. Try it, you won’t be sorry!

I ordered a tortiere, French meat pie, online and was super impressed. It was ordered before Christmas as a gift for the family. It arrived in good time, packed in a foam ice box with proper cold keepers, and the pie itself was well wrapped. I kept it frozen till we were ready to have it for a dinner after Christmas. It was delicious and there were leftovers even after 4 adults shared it. I would buy it again. The cost by person includes the shipping and gratuity.

I really enjoy their seafood and outdoor seating. The food is always good.

In my opinion, best clam cakes in New Bedford. The fries are really good, too.

Even better is that they give you complimentary clam cakes instead of bread, chips and salsa, etc.

I still enjoy eating here. I love the clamcakes and chowder. The cocktails are really good, too. I enjoyed my Mai Tai. We sat outside even tho it was hot. We enjoy the patio area. Location is nice as it is by a scenic harbor walk and ice cream place. Added more pictures.

The stuffed quahog or "stuffie" is a must-have. It has linguica and an extra kick to it without being too spicy.

Love a traditional French Meat Pie?? Well no other place to get one then Cove Surf!! Whether you dine in and get the French Meat Pie dinner or order a whole French Meat Pie with instructions to take home and bake later you cannot go wrong! Better then you get in France!!

I NEVER give 5 stars but this is earned for sure. My husband just said it was the best soup he has ever had. He had the Kale and I have had the chowder before and they are both wonderful . The service is always amazing. A nice quiet environment. I hate when I have to yell over the tv or radio. This is perfect every time we come out . Food is delish ! Number one must visit SouthCoast restaurant.

1st time here after long walk at the Cove. Live music, hand full of tables eating and having fun. Everyone was happy with their food. Friendly, attentive wait staff. Good drinks choices too. We were inside porch area, but indoors and outdoors as well. Cozy, small and quaint. I would definitely return while in area!!!

I very rarely give any eating establishment of five star rating but the Cove Surf & Turf merits it. It has been decades since I have enjoyed such very fresh seafood that was so excellently and skillfully prepared. In addition, the prices are borderline cheap, especially considering the massive quantities of this excellent seafood. The Cove Surf & Turf gets its fresh fish, crustaceans and other seafood less than a block away directly from the harbor. The cove's owner, Rachel, is very friendly, communicative, genuine and is a joy to be around. The Cove Surf & Turf is a must-not-miss opportunity for any seafood lover and I strongly recommend it.

I cannot praise the owner, Jesse, and his incredible establishment enough!
It was my father's 89th birthday on Dec 20th. We were determined to make it a celebration to remember. His one wish was to indulge in authentic New England fried clam bellies, a delicacy that has been elusive to us since he moved to California 15 years ago. We had tried countless seafood restaurants in the area, but none could replicate the traditional New England flavor. Additionally, The favorite establishments back on the East Coast could not get past the hurdle and challenge of shipping fried clams without compromising their taste.

The Cove Surf and Turf claimed to be able to ship their mouthwatering fried clams and ensure they arrived tasting absolutely incredible.

When I placed my order online for 2 pounds of fried clam bellies, I mistakenly overlooked a 25% off shipping discount that had expired prior to my purchase. Despite the shipping cost not being exorbitant, I decided to reach out to Jesse via email, politely requesting a $20 credit. To my surprise, Jesse responded promptly, even in the middle of the night, acknowledging my mistake and pointing out that the promo had expired a week ago. However, without hesitation, he had already taken the initiative to refund the amount to my credit card. I was truly impressed by his attentiveness and commitment to customer satisfaction.

In my reply, I expressed my gratitude to Jesse and shared that this order was a special birthday present for my father's 89th celebration. Jesse, going above and beyond, decided to elevate the experience even further. He upgraded the shipping to overnight early morning direct, at no additional charge, to ensure the clams arrived in time for my father's birthday weekend. Jesse also sent a heartfelt email for me to forward to my father, expressing his warm wishes for a joyous birthday celebration. This level of communication and understanding of the significance of celebrating 89 years with a parent deeply touched my heart. It was evident that Jesse is a business owner who values customer satisfaction and knows how to make each customer feel truly special.

Now, let me share with you my father's reaction to the long-awaited fried clams. I received a text message from him last night after he received the package:

"They arrived at 9:40 pm. We were downstairs watching television when I decided to check the tracking. I saw that they had been delivered. The packaging was impeccable, and I followed the included instructions to re-heat them, using our air fryer. These fried clams are the best I have ever had!! Delicious! Thank you son for the best birthday present I've ever received!"

The fact that the restaurant can maintain such exceptional quality and send them across the country without compromising their taste, just a few days before Christmas with all the craziness of the Mail system going on, is almost like a Christmas miracle itself!

I cannot recommend the Cove Surf and Turf restaurant enough. Jesse's commitment to customer satisfaction, his ability to make each customer feel special, and the outstanding quality of their fried clams are truly exceptional. Absolutely great food and service! My only complaint is the food was SO good I couldn’t stop eating it no matter how full I was. Lol

Came here recently for lunch with a friend, the staff are extremely friendly and the food delicious. You can definitely tell the food is fresh and their clam cakes are to die for 10 out of 10 would recommend

Online ordered 1/2 dozen Clam Cakes...they were delicious. Not to large but full of clams. Definitely a go to item when not in the mood for a full dinner.

This place has such great food! Some of the best clam chowder I’ve ever had. It’s Customer service is wonderful as well.
