America's Taco Shop

If you're ever in the Newport, VT area, America's Taco Shop is a must. I've been eating here ever since they opened, then moved away. On my recent visit to Vermont, after being away for a few years, I could not wait to sink my teeth into one of America's burritos. I ordered a Mexicali Burrito, and other members of my family ordered the Carne Asada Bowl, Carne Asada Chips, and California Burrito. Everyone enjoyed their meals, and truly enjoyed the hospitality, Especially after being away for so long, and to be remembered and treated like family, it's certainly a rare thing in today's world.

Thank you America, my entire family appreciates you; until our next visit to Vermont.

From the moment I stepped into the restaurant, I knew I was in for a good time. The menu was super descriptive (helpful for a picky husband) and the choices were overwhelming in the sense that I couldn't decided what to eat: it all sounded amazing. I got the adobo pork tacos, husband got a quesadilla, and my daughter got flautas. As soon as we got the food, I knew this was as authentic as it could get. My mother from Chihuahua was surprised when I told her about the amazing food we got in VERMONT. I was beat to the punch. I wanted to bring some Mexican cuisine to Vermont, but you guys win! The most delicious food I have had in a very long time. I felt at home. Like my mom would pop out of the kitchen. Thank you so much for such a wonderful trip down memory road. I hope everyone comes here and gets the full experience. Also, I got two red salsas which meant I got to bring some home for breakfast the next morning. Again, thank you and keep up the great work! In the northeast you wouldn’t expect such a delicious and authentic Mexican style restaurant. Food was amazing. The tostada and quesadilla was perfect to share with my wife and daughter. My wife also got a pork belly bowl which was so tender, and I got a chicken burrito. Will def come by again!!!

I had lunch there with my sister and the food is amazing! We had rolled tacos, the mexicali burrito and we shared a quesadilla, green salsa is bomb💥! We also tried the house horchata and jamaica, everything was super delicious🤤 America and the girls gave us a 5 ⭐ service all the time! I really love this place

The ratings on this shop are right. It's legit. To start with you get a bowl of freshly fried tortillas which are as good as it gets. Their salsas are great too. Green for mild, pico de Gallo as intermediate and a red hot one. My daughter got the cheese fajita while the other day members got burritos. Food is great and made to order. Would certainly pay them a second visit next time I'm in the Derby, VT area!

Busy little place, for sure. Staff seemed very good at keeping up with the pace, which to me, says the food will be made tastier. Happy staff make better food, don't you agree? :) Food was flavorful, a bit small in the portion area (size vs flavor...of course I'd pick flavor) and when I was done eating, my stomach felt satiate without feeling heavy (and tired). Another sign they use good ingredients (and homemade). Thank you for a delicious meal for my mom's birthday. :)

Era moy delicioso! I am in love with this place! I can never get enough! It's a simple inside, but I like that it's not some over the top joint! I love that I can go and enjoy myself! I will be back time and time again!

Got the Chorizo burrito and my wife got the carne asada bowl. Literally the best burrito I've had in my life. The staff was all really friendly and even the other patrons were friendly. Definitely getting that small town vibe but with phenomenal food.

Great food. A little expensive but always good and fresh.
Jamaica and Horchata drinks are marvelous.
Always friendly. Chips for salsa or guacamole are hot from the grill and fantastic!

I’m not even finished eating and I had to write MY FIRST REVIEW EVER (I think)! Absolutely FANTASTIC!! Vibe was so friendly- I wanted to stay! But I brought it home to husband, who worked in a taco shop for many years. He was not thrilled that I brought home Mexican food… UNTIL HE TRIED IT!! We will be making the 40 minute drive just to eat here again. A destination on my map now! Thank you

5 stars isn't enough for how good this place is. It's some of the best Mexican food I've ever had and always consistent. America is an absolute delight. I can't recommend this place more.

Amazing people and amazing food! I always enjoy going in to order food and always awesome to see everyone. My favorite is the Machaca burrito, extra heat 🔥🔥🔥🔥😏 Highly recommend! ❤

Oh man -- the food here is excellent! My family and I went for a first visit on Friday evening to get some food for our end-of-week movie night. The fish and adobada tacos were loaded with flavor, the beef and chicken flautas were delicious, and the quesadilla was the perfect kind of crunchy. The staff was super kind and friendly, and they included some on-the-house tortilla chips when we shared that we are new to the area. Each order also came with one of the house-made salsas! 🙌

All the food tasted fresh and authentic -- a perfect addition to movie night. We will definitely be returning to try out the rest of the menu.

Tasty Baja -style Mexican food. They have some off-menu options (enchiladas on Tuesday), and some things that are hard to find in Vermont (horchata and Jamaica). Get there early! They get busy, and will run out of things like their housemade taquitos. Very friendly staff, with America herself cooking in the back. They'll learn your name and your favorites quickly, and you'll feel like you're visiting family every time you go.
