This was a chill coffee spot. Definitely do not come here if you want a quick cup of coffee -- one of they joys of this place was watching each latte made with special care but because of this each drink will get the Barista's full attention.

I really enjoyed speaking with him (I assume he may be the owner). This guy didn't seem capable of having a bad day, he was genuinely kind and welcoming to everyone that walked through the door. Gave me good vibes for the rest of our day!

Middlebury is lucky to have two great coffee shops. Royal Oak is small, intimate, welcoming. Good music playing. As an ex-craft coffee bar owner, I can say that these folks know their trade. Perfect coffee drinks, executed quickly and with a smile. The food offerings are minimal. That’s not a bad thing, just a fact. They also sell locally roasted high quality coffee beans. Basically a perfect coffee shop.

This local independently owned coffee shop is a new favorite of mine. Their mocha is one of the best I've had, and I loved how the coffee art stayed & didn't disappear too quickly like many designs can. Their service is always quick & friendly, making the price worth it.

Some of the best coffee in the state and by far the most comfortable environment to enjoy it in. Vegan and GF bites from a local baker are all superb. The owners are genuinely open and friendly people with a real passion for what they do.

I stopped in to Royal Oak on a weekday mid-morning at the recommendation of a local Middlebury student. So glad I did! This was hands-down the best mocha latte I have ever had. The owner/barista quickly and expertly measured every step with the precision of a chemist (and zero pretentiousness), while chatting politely with me throughout. A must-have treat if you’re passing through!

Love it! I agree with every review and don't have anything to add. Can't believe waited so long to come here! Owner Matt does want folks to know food served currently only Thurs to Sun but welcome to bring their own other days.

Both the cardamom vanilla latte and the brown sugar spice latte were fantastic. Highly recommend stopping by for a well made and extremely tasty coffee.

Stopped in around 4pm today for a last minute coffee to get me through my busy Saturday! Small coffee shop that’s newer in town, I loved the design and the menu! Lovely staff! I could tell that they’re still stretching out into their space, I can’t wait to see it blossom even further! I got the Maple Latte with oat milk and it was so delicious! Thanks guys!

Best coffee in town! The cardamon latte is out of this world. They don't roast their coffee, instead they use high quality coffee (Vivid) which tastes amazing. Relaxing vibe, passionate owner and outstanding staff. Highly recommended.

It's about the coffee and the relaxed vibe. Maple latte was AMAZING! Staff super nice on a snowy day. Probably going back tomorrow.

By far, a superior cup of coffee compared to anywhere else in town. One of the best mochas I have had in a very long time. Friendly service with smiles all around. If only all small, independent coffee shops were like this!

FINALLY a flat white made right (in NA). This is a friendly and fun place to hang: chat, work, relax, repeat.
Highly recommended. (Perhaps Middlebury is in the cards…)

Cute spot! Super friendly staff, great music, very relaxing on a Saturday. Vivid (brand) Coffee is super high quality. We’ll be back.
I noticed another review said her coffee wasn’t very hot…neither was mine. So maybe ask for that up front.
