Wonder Lake with stunning views. The park is well maintained and is family friendly. The water is very clean and inviting. There is a park entry fee of $7 but if you have a military ID you only pay $3. Parking is plentiful, so bring the big truck if you like. We saw several law enforcement vehicles on the property, so safety concerns shouldn’t not an issue. We arrived around 0930am and there was a lot of people already out, but there was still plenty of space to spread out and enjoy ourselves. FYI: We left the park at 11:30am and there was at least 12 cars lined up at the entrance. When we arrived at 0930am, there was no line.

Lake Tapps is an excellent park for many summer time activities. The grass area offers plenty of room to relax in the sun. The protected swimming area is large providing plenty of room for the busiest days. The boat launch is easy to access with a decent amount of trailer parking. Recently there have been changes for boating access during the summer. Reservations are required online along with paying a launch fee. The system works well on all but the busiest days.

We try to visit once or twice a month, early in the day before it gets busy. Varies in how busy it is. Weekends, even at 8 a.m., there will be a few people setting up for a group gathering. It's just two or three people staking out a favorite location. Most mornings, it's just a car or two in the entire park. We enjoy the east end, with it's couple of fingers into the lake.

The Rainier park, the park where Mt.Rainier looks way closer to you than it acutally is! getting a photo of the water and Mt.Rainier is one of the best things to capture at this park.
plenty of parking and lots of ground to walk along with your family. this is one of the best well maintained parks to visit!

its a long drive to reach this park but worth it!

Original Review: Our first time out to the lake this year & it didn't disappoint!! The water was great, the grass was green & clean, and it was a great time with family & friends!

2022 Update: Still a great lake & fun time! They have since remodeled the beach & have fantastic steps down to the water. We go multiple times a year & love every minute!

This is a great park to picnic in with friends and family. I went here solo and still had loads of fun lazing on the plush green shores of the lake, under the shade of a tree while sun streamed down from between the branches!

They’ve everything! Plenty of parking, boat launch areas, washrooms and lot of room to chill! Oh, and Rainier views!!! 😍
The 7$ entry fee for cars is well worth it! I’d recommend this park if you’re looking for a nice, fun place to spend some quality time with friends and family; or, even if you want to go solo to get away from hustle and bustle of daily life!

Beautiful park by the lake and even more beautiful place to spend some quality time with the loved ones or even alone especially with a cup of coffee. It is a very family friendly park and great spot for water-sports, quick picnics, and BBQ. However, I wouldn’t recommend it for fishing unless you go far away from the park with your boat.

Beautiful lake to picnic with friends and family with gorgeous Mount Rainier view. Though water is from glaciers, temperature is normal and kids can swim whole day. On a weekend, make sure to get early, else might have to wait in line to get into park because of limited occupancy.

Beautiful spot for a picnic, an afternoon stroll with the family, and reading a good book.
Great spot to take photos of Mount Rainier.

They do close early between October and March so make sure to head there early as they close the park around 4pm.

There are some bugs in the park though so I’d advise bringing some bug deterrent if you hate these flying demons.💀

If you're a weak swimmer or participating in boating, paddle board, or skiing, always wear a lifejacket. The lake has hot and cold patches depending on the weather and how deep you're swimming. Always swim with a buddy. Help keep others safe.

The sheriff has been blocking the road this summer when the park is full. Come early. Please do not trespass in neighborhoods or private property.

I went to try this park and it was one of the most beautiful parks iv ever tried in WA!

The views are amazing and its a great spot for bbq, walk or even just enjoy the views. I honestly wish if they stay open till midnight where people can enjoy the night views.

They do charge parking fees though.

Very beautiful park with lake as center of attraction, very well maintained. If you like to swim with scenic views of Mt Rainer, or launch your boat or you like lake views then this is the best spot, you have plenty of barbecue spots as well. Got entrance fee of 7$ with free parking, lot of spots open. We enjoyed well, definitely will visit again

This park can get very busy during the summer time, especially when dozens of people come over to use the public boat launch. If you enjoy quiet walks with beautiful views of the lake and Mount Rainier, I strongly suggest visit the park before the high season, you can practically get the entire place to yourself.

Great park, 7 bucks to get in. BBQs, restrooms, lots of grass, paths, and beaches. Best views of Rainier around here.
