Very clean and quiet rooms. Modern amenities throughout. The restaurant has great service and great drinks, as well as desserts. Friendly staff. If you're in the area, this is the place to stay!

We were pleasantly surprised with how much we loved this hotel. The building is beautiful, the room was great, and you are less than a half mile from the entrance to the park as well. Medora is a charming little town to relax in, and to top it off, Theodore's restaurant in the hotel was the best meal of our 7 day trip.

I rarely write reviews of places now that I travel so frequently for work but this place deserves five stars and more. First of all - it is like stepping back in time in a wonderful way, the bar staff is second to none, and the food is unreal. The rooms are perfect and everyone is friendly as can be.

For my brief story, and I am reluctant to call people to task but it is really worth noting for your trip, I was fully booked at the Wyndham down the road, paid in full, and upon arrival they told me they had cancelled my reservation no notice. I asked had they emailed, called, anything, they said it wasn't there responsibility to do so and they couldn't be ruder. Totally not indicative of Medora or North Dakota more broadly. I walked over to the Rough Rider and they worked it out to get me a room even with a busy weekend and a packed hotel - on top of it they gave me the standard rate, no fees or nothing. Jolene, the woman at the front desk, was the sweetest person at the place and must be working on being beatified, in my mind she's a saint already. I wish I remembered every other staffers name because they were all so great.

If you are staying in Medora, this should be your first choice. You will never forget the experience and if you are still deciding on a trip - go to North Dakota, it is truly a wonderful place.

Enjoyed our stay in the Rough Riders hotel. We visited in late May so the town wasn’t too busy yet. Able to check in very quickly and easily. Room was very nice with a large bathroom, 2 comfortable queen beds and pillows, and a couple of windows that provided nice lighting. Very easy to park either in lot or street parking in this very quiet, safe town. Went for a walk around the hotel around 9 pm and saw lots of deer while out. This hotel is just around the corner from Teddy Roosevelt National Park making it very convenient. Ate breakfast at the hotel restaurant in the morning which was also quick and tasty. Recommend staying here for sure.

The location of the Rough Riders Hotel was perfect for our visit to Medora. Everything in the town was within walking distance and very close to the Theodore Roosevelt National Park and Bully Pulpit Golf Course. We also really enjoyed the patio at the hotel.

Hotel is close to old Town theater walking distance to everything down town. The staff is amazing. Super clean. Rooms are super comfortable. Has the best restaurant in Medora but is not cheap dinner will cost about 40.00 min without drink. But so good. Love this hotel. Best down town location if you want to be near everything. But you still have to drive to the musical no matter where you stay. Unless attending events at the old Town theater.

Parking can be tough. Back parking lot is tiny everywhere else is on street and it gets busy. Only downer but that's everywhere
Find a good spot then walk or bike

Great hotel in downtown Medora just at the entrance to TRNP. Clean rooms, lovely fireplace and library. Restaurant had a good breakfast but waitress wasn't very friendly.

This place was incredible! The hospitality was great and the restaurant here was delicious. We had the Bison Benedict for breakfast. There is so much history on the walls of these halls. Lots of TR artifacts too going back to his ranching days in these parts.

Couldn't ask for a better location. Hotel offers a charming, rustic feel. Beds were very comfortable. Large walk-in shower. Connecting restaurant is convenient. Large outdoor patio was nice.

Rooms are nice and clean. No pets! That is great for my wife's allergies. The only reason I give the four stars is because of lighting. Pretty dark even with all the lights on and regular hotel coffee setup. People are very helpful and seem to care about your stay. Location couldn't be better. Stores across the street, theater and Steak 1.2 Miles away up the hill and centrally located. The town is only 6-7 blocks long so park the car.

Awesome room. Awesome food. Awesome drinks. Awesome employees!

Room bed is comfortable and so the pillows! Comes with soft pillows and firmer ones (praise be).

Food and drinks: Colten made me an amazing vegan dinner! He talked to me and asked what I liked. It turned out epic. Kentrell made the veggie hash breakfast for me vegan and it was perfect.

Donnie the bartender makes amazing cocktails. Watch out though, you can't taste the alcohol. Yeah that good! He made me a butterfly martini. He also asked if I had restrictions and I told him I was vegan. He showed me how he made the drink step by step. Very entertaining.

Employees are nice and welcoming. I wish I came in May when more places are open

They have a tiny fitness center with 2 steppers and 1 treadmill and a weight machine. The machines are old. The 2 steppers didn't work. And weight machine could also use a tune up. But I don't think many people go there to work out.

I loved Medora and I hope to be back.

Best bed. Best pillows. Beautiful rooms. Library is fabulous. Saihi (spelling?) At the front desk was amazing checking me in early.

In the off season, the restaurant is closed Monday and Tuesdays fyi. But I had breakfast and it was great!

We stayed at the Badlands Motel and the Wooly Boys Inn during our stay in Medora! We stayed 3 nights total and utilized the location to visit Theodore Roosevelt National Park. The rooms were spotless and in the perfect location! You could walk anywhere in town that you wanted to go. We would definitely stay here again! My only "complaint" is that the Badlands Motel did not have a microwave in the room and the restaurants closed around 9:00 making it hard to heat up something for dinner. However, there was a microwave you could use in the office until 11:00!

If you can afford to pay these prices, this hotel is excellent in many ways. The location is a couple of blocks from the Roosevelt Park entrance. The renovated rooms are well done, especially the bathrooms with walk-in shower. The property is very clean and very rustic. We sat on the front porch and conversed with complete strangers and that was enjoyable! There is a high end restaurant and fitness room at the hotel.

Everything about Rough Riders is amazing. Nofo, behind the guest services counter, is awesome. Very courteous and funny. Theodore's, the restaurant inside the hotel has unbelievable food options. Seriously it's unreal. And Donnie behind the bar is the best Bartender/mixologist I've ever met. He creates his own drinks, brings back vintage drinks made the old way, and dude knows how to work a room. He can have that whole bar talking and laughing with each other and he puts on a show when making his drinks. He can tell you the history of a drink and the science behind it. He is absolutely phenomenal.

Great hotel. Clean and big beds. Quick stop! Nice town and had a great time. The Bartender was a hoot! Made my day after a long drive. Waking distance to other restaurants, bars and shopping. I loved it here. Parking was a little tough but not a big deal.

Doesn’t have the greatest of amenities but you shouldn’t expect that coming to this small of a city in such a remote place. The hotel is very updated from how it looks on the outside and we had a great stay!
