What a cute cafe. They have it all! From artisan tea to carefully crafted cocktails to being in a historic building to immaculate vibes. Plus it’s all vegetarian and everything can easily be made vegan. My only critique is the Merc Melt could use a little more sauce/flavor but everything was excellent! I have nothing but good things to say. It was all so tasty and staff was kind and helpful. Highly recommend!

A new favorite spot for lunch! Thrilled to discover this gem in downtown New Castle. I went with a friend visiting from out of state, and we loved the vibe of the place. The food is vegetarian/vegan but honestly I would have never guessed—my gyro was so tasty! They also offer an excellent beverage list and I’ll be sure to try the coffee next time.

I get the pulled oat pork sandwich (made vegan) when I come here and I enjoy it a lot. I love the patio area and would recommend this spot if you’re thinking of giving it a try!

This was our first time trying vegetarian place. We shared the gym and BBQ sandwich. We both loved both. I had a tea and my friend had a coffee. We loved them both.

What a treat to find this vegetarian gem! The cozy colonial building provides multiple levels and rooms of ambience. Ordering food is at the bar. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The only con we experienced was trying to decide from the MANY delicious sounding options 😂 the pulled oat pork sandwich was a highlight and I highly recommend. The salads were a right balance of greens, toppings, and dressing (not drowning like mostly places create). The hummus and tzatziki plate was great for a kid, lots of options. The impossible burger had a great seasoning to it with a sweet bun. The Dutch Hot Toddy is perfect on a cold and rainy day. All in all, the best meal on the trip so far and I recommend you give it a try, vegetarian or not.

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here. The outside garden patio was perfect for a romantic meal. I loved the Chardonnay and their homemade tomato soup is a must -- it is the most delicious tomato soup ever! And their salads with house made dressing is always fabulous. Great food, drinks, atmosphere and add in the always friendly service, dining at Mercury Cafe is the best experience.

I love this place!!! They make pots of proper loose leaf tea🫖☕ served in real cups. I am so happy we found this place. The baked goods are delicious, the atmosphere is spot on and the owners could not be any more welcoming and nice. We will be back!

We stopped in while looking around Old New Castle on a Saturday morning. We were promptly able to get a seat and were helped by the owners Aaron and Dwayne. The Mercury Cafe and Teahouse is a very cool and eclectic place that checks off a lot of interesting categories. The entire menu is either vegetarian or vegan and I thought it was very good even though I am neither. The coffee is excellent (I had a hazelnut latte)! What sets this place apart though is the tea. Tea is a labor of love for Aaron and he has created many of the blends himself. I am hardly a tea expert so he talked me through the different varietals. I settled on an Oolong tea which he prepared in the traditional Chinese way using clay pots, a precise temperature of water, and multiple steepings. I ended up getting 4 cups over a 30 minute period and each was slightly different due to the repeated steepings. It was very interesting. This place far exceeded your typical British Tea Room (which it is not). Whether you love tea, coffee, cocktails (which they also do), good food, out just a quaint place in a historic setting the Mercury Cafe and Tearoom should be a must stop on your list! We will be back!

A Latte like no other! I only had time to order to go but wished I could have stayed and enjoyed the atmosphere! Indoor/outdoor space. Their passion reflects in the cup!

What an unexpected delight! My husband and I were visiting the area and hadn't planned on eating in New Castle, but we happened to be there around lunchtime. We did a quick search for vegetarian restaurants and found The Mercury. We were so glad we did! The restaurant is just charming inside; you can choose a patio or garden room, and there's also seating inside a warm, cozy, interior section that's incredibly welcoming. We both had The Harmony Bowl and the tahini dressing was out of this world! We left with some baked goods, and the cookies were absolutely delicious. I was able to spend a bit of time talking with Dwayne and Aaron, as well as a couple of patrons, and everyone was so lovely and welcoming, very open and friendly. I only wished I lived closer so I could make stopping here part of my regular routine. I would love to try breakfast, happy hour, coffee - I'm sure any visit would be a good one. Don't miss this gem in New Castle!

Third time here and it's fantastic. Had the artichoke dip, grilled cheese, tomato soup and the la la land latte. Make sure you have some extra time, but it's worth the wait.

Another great experience at the Mercury! The dirty Chai was great. The taco salad was very tasty, but misses the mark if your a Mexican cuisine enthusiast.

The nachos are superb! I love a good loaded nacho and this combination is so good you'll want more. Don't forget to get the La La land latte, yes coffee and nachos, who would have guessed.

A hot La La and a cheese plate while working on my laptop was the ticket today. As you can see, this place is top of my list for coffee spots.

LOVE the food and drinks over at Mercury - but what makes this spot the BEST is the hospitality and warmth of owner and staff.

Attended many of their amazing events - highly recommend.

Our daughter introduced us to this gem when we were visiting from out of town, and we enjoyed lunch on the patio. Everything on the menu is delicious, including the vegan options. The inside is quaint and cozy, and we wished we could have gone back for dinner. We look forward to visiting again!

What a fantastic place especially if you are a non meat eater. So very tasty and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Plus the atmosphere fits any mood with 3 different rooms to choose from. Can't wait to get back there.

First time in this section of town and loved the vibes. The cobblestones and house environment was so cute and cozy. We ended up sitting outside in the patio area with tons of plants and shade. They had lots of vegan options to choose from and tasty alcohol selections. We got the pretzel appetizer plate which was super soft and filling, the vegan pulled pork sandwich and the impossible burger which were amazing as well. The service was wonderful and they were genuinely nice and attentive. We both vowed to come back again and soon. Highly recommend and wish we had discovered it sooner.

Had lunch here Wednesday with my daughter. The menu doesn’t have meat however I didn’t miss it. My salad was avocado lime and she had a beet salad. We had Arnold palmers which went well with it. Ate inside in the back and really enjoyed our lunch. Great spot in historic new castle

Best place we have eaten at in Delaware. Wasn’t hungry but the place looked so inviting so we went in. My wife and I split a toco salad that was exceptionally good! Wonderful atmosphere. Will return with an empty stomach soon. Thank you for the great experience.
