The Tackle Box - Catfish, Seafood, & Southern Home Cooking

Just WOW! The food was perfect. Just like I remember when I was little in Texas. We just stopped for a meal while headed out of Texas. So glad we did. Fried shrimp and catfish are just right with great flavor. Fried okra was just like grannies! Waitress was sweet and attentive. The restaurant isn’t a fancy place but you don’t need fancy when it’s this good!!

Our first visit was only so so. However, the next visit was much improved. The waitress, Chrystal, was friendly and helpful. She did all she could to make everything right for us. The food was very good. I would recommend the crawdad tails for an appetizer.

I thought the food was great. This is a new establishment ( serving fish, hamburgers, Po Boys and more) that used to be a Mexican restaurant. Our server was polite and checked on us frequently. Everything was clean. Hopefully they will do well and grow. Check em out.

The staff and waiters was extremely nice. They made sure that she our was full and check to see if we needed anything. The food was very delicious and the price was fair for what we ordered.. If you like catfish, the all you can eat Catfish dinner if the best deal for your buck. The restuarant doesn't just have seafood on the menu, but other varieties as well.

Let me just start by saying that this place is absolutely amazing! The food is to die for and the southern hospitality can't be beat! Their burgers are out of this world (best I've ever tasted and I have traveled the country). At first the place looked old, but after entering, it was crazy cool. I love Texas and everything about it so I was happy to see a "love Texas" sign in the door! As soon as we walked in we were greeted with a nice and hearty "Hey y'all!" from our waitress. We tried their fried green tomatoes, jalopeños, and onion rings as appetizers and we were totally glad we did!! They have a signature sauce that pairs well with literally anything (I'd literally eat an old tire with that sauce on it). Oh and did I mention that almost everything was HOME MADE? - Right down to their banana pudding and buttermilk pie. One last tidbit...Friday night are ALL YOU CAN EAT BOILED SHRIMP FOR ONLY $14.99!!! All in all this place is truly a catch!! (See what I did there?) If you have a chance to stop at this lovely place please, please do so!!!! Oh and ask for their best waitress, she is there all days except for Sunday and Monday!!! Hope you have the chance to stop by this place!!

The Tackle Box is an unassuming little place out in East Texas that serves some of the best spicy boiled shrimp I've ever had. At $15 for All You Can Eat on Friday's it's also a steal. And don't even get me started on the Fried Okra. I will definitely be going here again next time I'm in East Texas.

This restaurant was great for southern style food!! We prefer to be isolated and we got that and sports on the tv. From the greens to the gumbo (which i am very picky about both) and the boudin balls and fish!!! Very tasty! Enjoyed this restaurant. Our server was Great!!!!

Every time we go we have the best service. Our waitress remembers all the little sauces and seasonings we like. Definitely have to go for their all you can boiled shrimp it’s fantastically seasoned. All their sides have been delicious as well! We try to go every week! Great food for Kilgore!

Great place,family friendly its not a quick stop restraunt about 20 to 30 minute wait Good lookin food and tasty.

Good menu options. Nice staff. Clean. Go for the food. Not fancy, doesn't matter. Good catfish, shrimp, grilled chicken, turnip greens, fried squash, cole slaw. Generous portions. We'll be back.

Decided to meet my parents here for lunch and everything was delicious, will be back again. Fried fish is 10 stars! Didn't notice until we were leaving they had already been closed for 20 minutes. Thank you for being such good hosts!

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to The Tackle Box. We started at our meal with the fried green tomatoes and fried mushrooms. They were fantastic they bring out all the sauces and sides that you need. We have the fish and shrimp and the shrimp was absolutely fantastic. They were huge. The staff is fantastic. Everybody goes out of their way to make sure that you have everything you need and is ready to accommodate any needs that you have. Dinner4two not including tip $43. What a deal. Can't wait to go back!

Very much enjoyed our to go meal! The food was hot & fresh and had excellent flavor! Ordered boiled shrimp- it was so easy to peel and had a nice spice to them. Definitely some of the best seafood around!

The food , service, cook and regular customers were amazing. From Dallas came for a funeral and just wanted some good down home cooking and we got it. We had fried fish, okra and fried tomatoes, onion rings, chicken strip, chicken fried steak, greens, mac and cheese, hamburger, banana pudding (2 boilers),chocolate pie, chess pie, sweet tea and water with lemons. We enjoyed the WHOLE experience some much all servers plus cook received a tip. Tackle Box Thanks and much success to you and your wonderful staff

We had a birthday party at the Tackle Box. Stacy was our server and we could not be more pleased. She was awesome, kept everyone happy. The food was excellent, hot and fresh. They even stayed late to let us finish. If you haven't try them you should.

They have a simple menu full of great food! I had the fried shrimp and okra and they were fantastic. The breading on the okra was crunchy but still thin, just like I like it. The shrimp was well cooked and flavorful.

Will be going back again.

My husband and I ate at The Tackle Box for the first time tonight. We ordered fried green tomatoes for an appitizer and knew when we tasted them that we had found our favorite seafood place! I ordered the crab cake plate and my husband had the catfish and shrimp dinner. I would put both plates up to any place in our area! I think the crab cakes could easily rival any that I have ever had, including Maryland! Our waitress, Sophia was super sweet and left us a cute not on out ticket. We will definitely be back!

One of the best fish restaurants around. Large table areas for families.

Ok this place is great. We got the all you can eat fried fish and it was great. The fried okra and fried squash was amazing as well.
