Medici in Normal

For starters.... The history of the making of this restaurant is fascinating! Beautiful woodwork throughout the interior! I had Tammy as a server...Fantastic! She recommended the beef stroganoff, which did not disappoint me at all! It has a combination of rich buttermilk and smooth sour cream for the base, smothering tender cuts of beef and chunks of mushrooms on a bed of egg noodles to combine a delicious flavorful dish! Complimented by the garlic toast, of course! The espresso was rich and full flavor! 😋 This place is sure to meet your expectations!

Delicious food! We have eaten here three times now! They get you seated quickly with quick service on the food! My husband loved his wedge salad with grilled chicken. The kids shared a pizza that they both liked. I didn’t try any of it but my husband said it was good. They did half cheese and pepperoni. I had the chicken sandwich with sweet potato tots! I get the same thing every time I visit Medici. The tree in the middle of the restaurant is pretty cool! I also think the sinks in the bathroom are kinda fun!

My wife and I came here for our first date years ago. Always great food. Always good service. Handmade wooden tables and a giant old tree in the middle of the dining room. Try the brisket jalapeno poppers.

Always something fun and different to try on the menu! The foods range from casual dishes (Mac and cheese, pizzas) to fancier options (salmon, steak). Recently tried their brunch and it didn't disappoint. Something for everyone!

This place is so good! My friends and I came here once and liked it so much we came back. First night was for dinner. We all loved our drinks, entrees, and dessert. The mule and mai tai were particular favorites. My scallops were to die for and everything about that dish was perfect. The stroganoff was stroganoff but it was good. The creme brûlée was the fave of the desserts. The cheesecake and chocolate cake were both good, just nothing out of the ordinary. We came back for brunch and mimosas were good. I got the seafood lasagna and it was so good and my leftover reheated really well. The vodka sauce was great and the seafood was plentiful. My friends French toast was very good, tho our waitress recommended having it brought out immediately because she said it's the best if it's fresh. Other foods were breakfast pizza, breakfast skillet, and chicken chilaquiles and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. Staff was always great. Our waitress the first night especially was awesome and I wished I remembered her name to mentioned her by name. I will come here for sure if I'm ever in the area again. Everything we ate here was spectacular — we ordered the brisket jalapeño poppers to start and then shared the pretzel steak and cheese sandwich and Gouda Mac n cheese with Buffalo chicken. HIGHLY recommend the Buffalo chicken on top!! The atmosphere was lovely— we ate outside on the rooftop and felt so relaxed. Great place!

Delicious sweet potato tots and very nice presentation of the dishes. The atmosphere is energetic and busy on Saturday Noon. The price is fair and service was good. The drink menu needs more non-alcoholic options and that almost makes me want to remove a star. Other than that, Normal is very small college town and this place is a sanctuary from the typical and traditional food option, and franchises. I will visit again.

I photograph weddings throughout Illinois (Ernst Jacobsen Photography) and have photographed several weddings at Medici in Normal. It's a GREAT option if you're looking for a cozy, intimate venue for small to mid-size weddings in Uptown Normal. The upstairs portion of Medici is typically reserved for the wedding. The indoor portion is typically setup for cocktails and dinner while the adorable, open air patio is perfect for reception festivities from toasts to dancing. Plus, it's just steps from the both the Hyatt and Marriott hotels. Highly recommend!

Excellent meal for a group of nine on graduation weekend. Food was fresh and well-portioned. Service was friendly and swift. The strawberry margarita was outstanding!

Wow, we had a great dining experience at Medici tonight! The outside patio upstairs was perfect for some drinks and great food. I highly recommend the Chicken Ranch pizza and the Medici burger! Both were cooked perfectly tonight! We will certainly be back!

Went here with my fiance and her mother when in town on a day trip from Chicago. We were promptly seated in a nice window booth.

Drinks
I ordered a West coast style ipa (forget what it was). My fiance was stoked to see the dank meme ipa listed on the beer list so she tried that. Who ever curates the beer selection really knows what's up, because mother in law's drink (something fruity) was also really good, i remember it being sweet, tart and fruit-based guava??? None of us tried tasters of the beers/selzers before ordering a pint, we just went off the description on menu and were very happy with the selections.

Appetizer
We ordered brisket poppers. Those were great to look at and more fun to eat

Entrees
I ordered Italian butternut squash gnocci. The gnocci was clearly made in house and the cream sauce, garnishings and Italian sausage made it a satisfying and balanfed entree. I needed a cup of coffee afterwards lol

My fiance ordered jambalaya. It wasn't too spicy and had a great flavor. I'm not going to pretend to be an expert on jambalaya, but after I tried it I would have considered trading for my coveted dish.

Fiance's mother ordered short ribs. The beef was perfectly cooked and the potatoes, asparagus made it look very tempting for me as I gazed at it from across the table.

We all left happy we decided to come uptown in Normal.

Great food. They accommodated us for a part of 18 for dinner and also for a party of 4 for lunch the next day. We like Medici so much that we always eat there twice when in Bloomington-Normal.

Always enjoy dining here. Nice selection on menu. Attentive service. Lively atmosphere. Had Mussels Pomodora special, was delicious.

Excellent food, service and cocktails. Fyi the brownie dessert was more like a hard fudge, we were not expecting that. Everything else was excellent.

Came here last month for dinner service was great food was the same. I can’t remember the gentleman who was a server but he was great at service. Not so much on the menus as he stated he was new. I’d definitely try this place again.

Food is delicious and fresh! I love the buffalo salad with caesar dressing sans blue cheese-ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! Great staff and atmosphere. Always a clean facility!

This place was amazing. The food was fantastic and the staff was so personable and welcoming! The tree inside and the overall atmosphere is really unique. It is in uptown Normal so you can visit the nearby shops beforehand or just take a nice walk stroll after dinner. Highly recommend!

This is now one of my favorite restaurants in the world. We wandered in to Medici on a cold Friday at lunchtime in late November. The consistently good music was an instant comfort. Everything we ordered was excellent and cooked to perfection. I highly recommend the gluten-free pizza. It comes in medium and is plenty for 2-4 people. The cheese, toppings, and crust were gorgeous. The reuben, truffle fries, and pretzel sticks were terrific. The drinks, though. Don't pass on the frozen lemonade or the tea! I can't wait to go back.
