Short Stacks

We were quite impressed with Short Stacks. The Breakfast Menu has a wide variety of choices, from healthy to hearty. The staff was friendly and ultra attentive. I Had the Senorita Omelette with Chorizo. It was perfectly cooked with generous amounts of chorizo and jalapeños.

The Wifey was having trouble deciding between the Pot Roast Burrito and the Pot Roast and Eggs Breakfast. She went with the Pot Roast and Eggs Breakfast because it came with pancakes. We were more than a little geeked out by them offering Pot Roast for breakfast. It turns out it’s a pretty good breakfast meat. Not too fatty and not too salty.

We also shared a very fresh bowl of mixed fruit. The eponymous Pancakes were delicious too. And the house coffee was a strong smooth flavor which impressed us, as well. The prices were more then reasonable for breakfast. We highly recommend Short Stacks.

I got the homemade banana nut French toast with Nutella inside, so delicious! A sweet tooth’s dream. Great atmosphere, incredibly friendly waitresses. I’ll be coming here for years down the line.

This little place is neat. There was decent seating and the employees were friendly. I tried the Jalapeno Popper omelet and it was great! My wife enjoyed her French Toast as well. Definitely recommend.

My wife loves coming here. She says they have the best gluten free pancakes, and she's tried them from several places.
It's a small breakfast/brunch diner, with friendly staff and great food. They also offer free range eggs from All Grass Farms, which is less than 10 minutes away.

Delicious coffee! We went on a Tuesday morning, around 11 am, so it wasn't busy at all. The food came out rather quickly and we were getting refills pretty consistently. I did upgrade to the local farm eggs which were yummy. The breakfast potatoes were a little too oily but other than that, it was tasty. Would definitely visit again.

Stopping at Short Stacks was by accident, and we couldn't have been more fortunate. One look at their menu is all it took - lots of great choices for breakfast and lunch. We went with one of their specials for the day, plus one entree off of their regular menu. Both were delicious, and the portions were so large that we took half home. If the opportunity presents itself, be sure to eat at the counter - you'll enjoy a delightful conversation with the friendly staff.

Awesome service (Hannah). Flavorful skillets (Fiesta). Wonderful pancakes (upgrade to blueberry). And an impressive selection of hot teas make this a perfect choice for breakfast — especially on weekdays when it’s not as crowded.

I literally live right down the street from this place and I have never been here ! My Mom - my daughter and family have come here several times. But because I worked so far away in Richmond I never really get a chance to go out for breakfast or for lunch.. My aunt needed to run to the store and so I was taking her and she asked if I wanted to stop and have breakfast and to tell you the truth I'm not really a breakfast person, so I went in with her to see if they weren't busy because they were like always so busy jam packed ( I was told from Several people ) Obviously because of the GREAT FOOD and the GREAT SERVICE - and the availability to get to it, as it's right in the heart of Downtown Algonquin, And let me tell you - I will Most Definitely try my best to stop in whenever I have the opportunity. The restaurant is very unique with all the decor and is very sanitary - Handicap parking & ramp availability - plenty of parking... I give SHORT STACKS 5 ⭐ I just wanted to add that I asked for my food to be prepared well done 😁 and as you can see it was PERFECT !!

Great family owned breakfast place, cozy atmosphere with good coffee, food, and service. First time in and already can tell we will be back.

My husband and I ate here recently. We were seated immediately upon entry, and we seemingly arrived at just the right time. This place was incredibly busy, and for good reason! The food (and coffee) was fantastic, as was the service! The atmosphere was light but bustling and fun. I'm sure we will be back if we're in the area again!

I love this place! Feels like a country diner with decor to match. Friendly staff, delicious food, and generous portions. I had the eggs, hashbrowns, and biscuits & gravy. My wife had a croussaint with egg, bacon, and avocado, which I tried and liked as well. I'll be back soon.

Huge portions of comfort food. The French Toast was huge. Come early and hungry and leave full and ready for a nap. Short Stacks is known to the locals and welcomes visitors too.

Ok people! They have French toast stuffed with hazelnut spread and it was gosh darn delicious! Wonderful place! Definitely recommend

Great place for breakfast and lunch! The staff are friendly and attentive. I’ve never been disappointed with going here. If you are going on a Sunday morning, either plan on going early or be prepared to wait a little bit for a table as it’s usually very busy. This isn’t a bad thing, and the wait is definitely worth it!!!!

Just wanted to share some love and positivity! We came in for breakfast today and the food was deliciously, consistently wonderful! Hubby and I are foodies and to be quite honest, we've been disappointed in some of our favorites lately. There seems to be a decline most places in the quality and consistency. I'm sure things have been much more difficult the past couple years due to staffing, costs and supply chain issues. We try to be understanding but have almost gotten to the point where it's not worth the cost anymore to go out to eat. Not at Short Stacks! The food and service is every bit as good as its been since we first started coming. We appreciate you!
