Davis Forest

The Veazie Town Forest (Davis Forest) trails are excellent. There are multiple trail systems you can explore here, including Davis Forest, McPhetres Forest, and Manterwood Trail. The trails are well-marked. There are plenty of blazes and maps posted along the trails, meaning you won't get lost. There are tons of small trails to explore here, too.

A few quick things to be aware of before going:
-The parking lot only has space for 3-4 cars. However, you can likely just park on the side of the road (the trailhead is on a quiet residential street).
-The trails may not be well-groomed when you visit. The day I visited (August 9, 2023), the grass was long and there were some areas where branches were in the way. However, if you don't mind bushwacking, this won't be an issue. Just check for ticks after.
-The wooden foot bridges may be slippery. I visited the day after a thunderstorm had rolled through the area. Several wooden foot bridges were slippery.

Overall, this is a great trail system to explore. It's 5 minutes away from Cascade Park in Bangor, so you could visit both places in one trip.
