A few years ago I took my cat in to the Schoolcraft location. I was met with respect and compassion, as it should be. In addition to that expectation every person involved went above and beyond to put me at ease. My elderly mom was with me. She was so impressed and comforted by how we and my cat were treated she said "oh, honey when I go, I want them to take care of me". I told , of course. I am so glad we took my little kitty there so that my mom could feel at ease with her care and treatment when she died. We rarely think about our physical remains when we contemplate our death as we go through life. But as we age it becomes a reality that must face. We spend years thinking about our health in an effort to prolong our lives but little time on our end of life. I'm glad my mom thought ahead and was able to make that decision and guide me on her wishes. When you think about your body, your dead body, and what will happen to it is terrifying. All the years you have spent telling people what they can and can not do with your live body are still valid. Where will I go? How will I get there? Who will be with me? Who can touch me and provide the most intimate, most personal, last physical care of me?
I was so grateful that Tim Secord and his staff were there for my mom. They went above and beyond for me and Mom. She took her last breath in a hospital bed. The hospital usually takes the decedent to the hospital morge and the funeral home will pick them up from there. I absolutely broke down, thinking about someone else moving mom and her lying in a cold cell all alone. The hospital called the funeral home for me and they came right away, in the middle of the night and took my mom to their home. Just as they would if she died at home. They cared for her as I would have, if I could. There have so many other little things that did to help me, I can't say enough about Tim Secord and his compassion and his patience. Grieving people must be very hard to deal with.
