Ever since discovering this seafood shack in summer years ago, we tried almost everything in the menu and has never been disappointed, it’s good to come down here off-season, no long wait and got to pick a seat with great view! The lobster was juicy with a tint of fresh sweetness, the oyster plate was crispy, plump and juicy! My girls used to joke on how fresh the seafood here as “ they still have plan tonight 20 minutes ago” when we dined here before.
The following is the reason I wanted to leave a review- A special note to the lady who was taking care of table cleaning, I left my purse behind while clearing the tray away, she brought it to me immediately before I even realized, really appreciate! Also the two staffs in the front desk were super friendly! This country style restaurant really brings out one of a kind of genuine service atmosphere , which may not be overwhelmingly welcomed as expected by some, but down to earth with decency, loved it and highly recommended !

Love the fried scallops and whole belly clams with a side of super crispy fries. The coleslaw is yummy, too.

Scenic views, clean dining area, and helpful staff.

Just a heads up....in the off-season, November 15th-April 15th, Brown's is open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
This is a cash only restaurant.

Some of the best fried seafood I have had. The french fries were pretty good too. Awesome dining area to include pet friendly. The awesome thing about this place is BYOB. Recommend.

The food here is incredibly fresh & prepared for you. Our plates were very full & neither of us could eat all that was there. It took us a few minutes to figure out where to place our order… we stood in the dining room and the person cleaning tables pretended we were invisible. If I was not so looking forward to the seafood I probably would have left and gone to the place across the street. Despite the poor customer service the seafood was outstanding! I would go back & not be daunted by NH service skills.

This place is the real deal. Family owned, no-frills, all-about-the-food kind of place! We were there in the off season, as soon as they opened, so we walked right in and ordered, our food came out quickly, and we had no problem finding a seat. You can tell that during the summer this place is a mad house. It's right on a beautiful cove so the view is lovely and you can sit outside or inside, all tables are family style. Menu is really extensive (even if you have someone who doesn't like seafood) and fairly priced for what you get. You can also get seafood, like lobster and clams, uncooked, to go. We got the lobster roll, haddock sandwich, clam strips, calamari, shrimp cocktail, and chowder. Every single thing was delicious! This place is an institution and we were happy it lived up to the hype. Definitely recommend 👍

The quintessential New England seafood shack. Some of the more prepared foods are just okay (the chowders, cakes, etc) but the simple fried seafood dishes are top notch. Super fresh, very lightly dusted in breading, and flash fried so they’re not greasy or heavy. Bring cash and expect to wait for a while, especially in the summer.

Pro Tip- you’ll wait in line forever if you’re ordering only fried food from the window in the front. If you’re ordering a boiled lobster you can also order fried food from the much shorter lobster line. The lobsters are worth it (super fresh and the shells are cracked just right to make them easy to eat) and being able to get around the long fried foods line is worth it anyway

Service is pretty much nonexistent, but that’s the name of the game with these places, just don’t expect to be mollycoddled and you’ll be fine

We went on a Sunday in April. The weather was quite lovely, making the view very nice. The staff was very professional and friendly. There was quite a crowd, but the wait time for both our order and food prep time wasn't long at all. Their clam bar was open. It was quite wonderful. The steamed lobsters were perfect. We had a non adventurous eater with us who chose shrimp and onion rings. There weren't any complaints there.Yes, they offer things other than seafood. In season they also have ice cream. They have picnic style tables and great windows for viewing the in let. They offer lobsters by the pound. The clam chowder is worth mentioning as well. If you're a fan of lobster I'd highly recommend you add this to your agenda if you're visiting Hampton beach. Don't let the packed cars in the parking lot discourage you. They seem to handle the large crowds quickly.

A trip home to New England is never complete without me stopping at Brown's. No-frills, family-run, order-at-the-counter goodness. Everything is consistently delicious. It has to be as native New Englanders would settle for nothing less. There is a reason this place has been operating since 1950 and can stay open year round: it's darn good. Fried clams were delish. Scallops were amazing. Fries were "wicked awesome" - perfect crunch. I look forward to returning again and again. Highly recommended.

TIP: Cash only and BYOBooze. Use the handy sinks near the bathrooms to wash up after your meal. Don't wear a bib unless you want to scream "I'm not from around here." Ha!

There’s a reason why they’ve been in business for so long and it’s quite simple: their food is absolutely fantastic. It’s fresh, fast, and all the locals know it so it’s common to see a healthy sized line, but it moves fast. If you’re looking for a great place to get your seafood fix look no farther and go here. The portion sizes are also great. To order you walk up to the right window outside the restarant, are given a ticket, and then hand in that ticket at the left window to pick up your food when your number is called over the loudspeaker (which you can hear both outside and inside). If you order a fresh lobster you can go inside to pick it out and then up once it’s done. It’s a simple process that’s quick and efficient. My family has been going here now for 3 generations and I can’t wait to make it 4.

I love Brown's. Have been coming here since I was a kid, so when we visited the area this week I was excited to come back. Good fried food. Good steamers. Nostalgic setting. I'm of the opinion that it's reasonably priced for the quality and quantity of what you get.

Went and had lunch with the Boy's. This place never disappoints. Great lobster, steamers, fried cls and fried scallops. Eat inside or outside doesn't matter get your hands in there and get messy. They have 2 sinks set up as a wash station to clean up which is nice.

Clean. Plenty of seating areas. Plenty of parking space. Beautiful sunset at outdoor seating. We got fried clams, steamed clams, scallop platter, and lobsters. They were all delicious except the lobsters that we all agreed they were way overcooked.

This place was awesome! I can see why they have been in business so long. The seafood here was kind of amazing. So fresh and perfectly cooked. We had the baked scallop dinner, the baked shrimp dinner, the fried oyster dinner and the clam chowder. We will definitely be going back.

Fresh, delicious seafood! I prefer Brown's over the other place nearby. Brown's food is fantastic, the staff is very friendly and helpful, and the dining area is very spacious and super clean. There's plenty of parking, and if you're there around sunset be ready for an amazing view of the sky as the sun goes down.
