Red Eye Cafe

We just love it here. Fun, relaxed atmosphere, really good food and drinks. Staff is awesome. Atmosphere: Indoor and outdoor seating, art for sale from different local artists on the walls, books to read on the shelves. House -made baked goods. (So, so good). Our go-to drink spot. The Vanilla Chai is so good that I get 2 at a time!

I was in a foul mood this morning after missing my train at Walnut St this morning by a minute (thank you NJ Transit for somehow always being early at the stop yet manage to arrive 5+ minutes late at the final destination). After taking a walk to burn off some steam while waiting for the next train I happened across Red Eye Cafe which is about a 40 second walk from the NYC bound platform). No better pick me up than excellent service with an amazing cup of coffee :)

The baked goods looked tempting, but alas I’m on another one of my (temporary) health kicks. Will definitely be back as the breakfast options featured healthy and tasty looking delicious options.

The food was great! Totally enjoyed the breakfast. Seems there's something on the menu to make everyone happy. We got the chilaquiles, huevos rancheros, breakfast ramen (the soup was very original/unique and the noodles were great), and the kids had the chocolate chip pancakes. All were delicious. I also appreciated their seasonal menu and enjoyed the coquito latte. We read some of the books on the shelves while waiting for our food, enjoyed the ambiance and friendly service. Will definitely be back!

Our first time at Red Eye Cafe in Montclair! The staff was friendly, and the ambiance created a warm atmosphere. The seasonal cappuccino with brown sugar cinnamon syrup was a delightful surprise, and the pesto scrambled egg on a brioche bun was so unique and I thoroughly enjoyed. Highly recommend!

We were surprised to find a full service place open on January 1. This place is great and I'm sure they do great business all year long, but we were visiting so it was a nice surprise. We ordered the avocado toast and it came with salad. And we also had the granola and fruit cup. The fruit cup could have been a little bit more of a seasonal choice. They had melons which are not seasonal to New Jersey in the winter. The avocado toast was pretty yummy. Also don't seasonal to New Jersey. The portions were quite big, the interiors were nice and historic looking and the staff were pretty nice. Although it took a little bit long for the food to come out, we were surprised because toast doesn't take that much effort and the place hadn't yet fully gotten crowded. Still. I would recommend coming here for a good brunch.

My friend and I went here for breakfast a week ago and we had a wonderful time. The waiter was super nice and attentive even though they were short staffed. I was able to tell that he attended everyone in a timely manner and was very courteous. I felt bad because he was by himself doing all the sit down tables. I appreciated his service and kindness. Definitely will be back. The food is absolutely delicious and the coffee is the best one I have had. Kudos to the baristas for being so attentive and getting every order out quickly and deliciously done.

I LOVE this place! I just started working near by and was looking for some lunch. Well, they have a phenomenal breakfast list, their coffee/tea bar is amazing, & they are reasonably priced. The Turkey pear sandwich is so good that I had to go back again today. You need to go try this restaurant, you will not regret it!

I had an amazing time at this cozy little Cafe. The food was delicious and the vibe was amazing.
We both came in on a busy Saturday morning. It was rainy and icky outside (my favorite weather btw). My friend and I both had Dirty Chai teas, as we waited for our tables. The teas were heart warming, as we sipped them eagerly in anticipation. We were told the wait would be about 20 minutes but I dont feel it was 20 minutes at all. I couldn't help but notice immediately the art on the wall, which reminds me of my sacred plant journeys with mushrooms and dmt. (The cool thing is the art comes from a local artist and you can actually purchase his work. I love that they support local and upcoming artists. If you want to buy his beautiful art by the way, management will plug you in with his contact info!!) I instantly knew that eye was at home (if you know what i mean🌌👁🔮) The books that were added for decoration were all intentionally selected and I absolutely loved itttt. I too love books so I just felt that I stepped into a portal to a dope little Cafe down Alice's rabbit hole... The food though? The food was amazing. I'm a foodie that is why I was there in the first place. I ordered the Ramen with spinach, eggs, and bacon in it, it had an amazing spicy ginger broth (literally all of my favorite things in a bowl 😩) and a extra side order of (bacon cause I'm greedy) and it was soooo savory and tasty. The bacon was thick and salty as it should be - appeased all of my taste buds. My friend ordered the shrimp and grits. The grits had coconut flavoring which gave me thai vibes 😍 and they were thick creamy and heavenly, with the added loveliness of the shrimp. She also had the smores cookie and I had the banana nut bread which was soft and moist.
10 out of 10. I can't wait to come again and eat the same thing another 4 times before I finally try something else. Lol 😁

my husband and I visited the Red Eye Cafe yesterday for the first time, and we're so pleased and charmed by the service and friendliness and warmth of the staff first and foremost. We were meeting a family member to attend my mother's funeral, and the staff are aware and made us feel incredibly comfortable. The coffee and croissants were fantastic and the pricing is incredibly good. We return later in the afternoon to meet the most wonderful woman working there, who again extended such warmth and kindness, as well as provided such wonderful service I cannot wait to go back and see them all again.

Cute place! First time trying it and I’ll definitely return. It’s sit yourself, they have a small menu but definitely has great choices. I got the Cuban sandwich and my friend got the red eye hash!

I pass by montclair all the time for work and been visiting bagel shop for breakfast and for lunch redeye. My dear people this establishment is a true honest one with people ! Every thing is delicious, simple, honest and super affordable. I just respect the service they provide, i ask my lady to get sandwich for lunch or even for dinner too. Awesome spot..

Really love this spot; the menu, the lattes, the vibe, the staff! We had everything from the Oat Chai latte to Waffle Sandwich (fried eggs, bacon, & spicy maple dipping sauce) to Buttermilk (blueberry) pancakes, French Toast, etc.

It was all amazing and we will definitely be back again soon!

I met a friend for lunch recently. We both ordered a cup of carrot potato ginger soup with grilled cheese sandwich. Our food was delicious. I also ordered a chai latte. It was foamy and with lots of cinnamon. We enjoyed our meal :)
Since this is Montclair, either you park in a metered spot or you drive around and find a spot. I am rather fond of The Red Eye. It is reasonable and the atmosphere is pleasant.

We stumbled across The Red Eye Cafe looking for coffee while on the way to a family funeral. It's located one minute walk from Walnut Station on the NYC eastbound side. The coffee was great, really great, smooth. We had chocolate and plain croissants which were perfect, crisp but melted in your mouth. The staff: relaxed, attentive, friendly. We stopped in again in after the funeral and a woman on the staff took time to talk to and comfort my wife.

Lastly the Red Eye Cafe is absolutely sparkling clean from floor to ceiling. The bathroom is spotless as well and stocked with paper towels, hand sanitizer, air freshener and disinfectant wipes.

The food was great! Seating is a little tight but cozy.

Delicious breakfast spot will be definitely coming back. I had an omelette with ham and broccoli to die for, will recommend.

I'm not sure how I've survived 31 years without ever trying candied bacon until now. It was absolutely worth the 30 minute wait! I had hot chocolate while we waited (10 stars for the hot cocoa!). I had the huevos rancheros and a side of candied bacon. Both were phenomenal. I'm already planning my next visit to NJ to get more.

Best food I’ve had especially the egg taco and the French toast! Amazing tasty food!!! Best brunch we had coming from London 🇬🇧

I got the iced lavender matcha latte with oat milk and the ham and gouda sandwich. Both tasted fresh and delicious. I’ll definitely be returning.

My absolute favorite place! I just wished that they stayed open longer! The food is yummy and nice sized portions!
