There are many hiking trails along the creek, beautiful scenery. Trout stocked waters. Cool old covered bridge(one way) at the intersection of creek roads and 604 just a couple miles from the Seargentsville general store . Wear good hiking shows, use walking sticks . This is an all natural hiking area , pristine wooded area basically untouched by man . One of the most beautiful areas around!!! Creek rd. Is paved , upper creek is gravel, there are many unpaved / gravel roads around this area . Drive carefully and stay alert for oncoming cars . ALWAYS Stay off you cell phone when driving !!

We parked at Prallsville Mill and took the trail along the road and then along Wickecheoke Creek. The walk was peaceful and the birdwatching was great.

Lot of great little places to sit down and enjoy, quiet, very few people. I’ve been enjoying this creek for over 30 years. At times is a bit overgrown but it’s a great place to enjoy, the entire creek. It was better before it flooded, but it will come back in time. If you drive to upper creek rd there is s great waterfall near the pull off on the side of the road closer to kingwood-lock town rd. Wish I still lived here so I could visit more often.

Unfortunately, the devastation caused by hurricane Ida has left an indelible print on this area. The Wichecheoke creek has been forever changed and therefore the trails have as well. Currently, the road is open from the Stockton side and parking is still available on the sides of the road. The creek is still quite beautiful and some of the trails are still walkable. The effects of the raging Waters is still very evident so please be sensitive to that and to the residents of that area. Having said that it's still a peaceful area to walk through great for birding. So A beautiful belted kingfisher. The waters are also trout stocked.

Seems like the preserve has great potential and the creek is really neat. However the damage from Ida is still bad, and the lack of continuity of the trails is a real drag. When you go on the road portions we could not find any trail markers to enter the trail on Loop 2. We parked by the covered bridge, walked across it, and down 604 but found no trail markers. We wandered through some fields, likely private property, and found some signs for the preserve but no trails or trail markers. Descended the hill through a bunch of pricker bushes, but had to climb back up as no trail. Some say this is a work in progress, but it seems there is no progress being made, maybe stalled by the damage?

Couldn't find the trail as pictures shown on Google. Very peaceful. No parking. And trails are not clearly shown.
