Fort Orange General Store - Downtown

I stopped by this past weekend for some gifts/souvenirs while staying in the area. This store is super cute and it really has a great selection on gift ideas. I purchased some shirts and sweatshirts and I could tell by just feeling them that they were of good quality. I recommend anyone either visiting or staying in the area to check this place out.

This store was very cute! Lots of good souvenir or gift type items. Things are a little pricey, but they had items that I've not seen anywhere else. Lots of cute options. Definitely worth a stop if looking for something cute to remember your time in the Capital Region.

They are very helpful and have alot or nice items to offer made from local merchants... went for the first time to grab a gift for my wife and the cashier was very awesome and pointed me to an epic massage body oil made from all natural ingredients that I'm sure my honey bun will appreciate and enjoy!! Definitely recommend!!

Glad to see that this store has thrived since moving from its Delaware Avenue location. It’s easy to assume this is another home goods store, but it’s a different welcoming vibe altogether. No kitsch here, just products (many local!) that are as functional as they are stylish.

Fort Orange is a great place for thoughtful gifts with a local flavor. I stop in every few months to check out what's new. Thier selection keeps growing and the cards are an awesome alternative to Hallmark.

Arguably the best shop in Albany, and a welcome addition to historic downtown Albany. The space is bright and welcoming, and many items are created by local artisans. This is the perfect shop for anyone who is searching for unique and carefully-selected items that you'd be hard-pressed to find at a big-box store.

Lovely and brilliantly designed store filled with a charm that instantly intrigues. F.Orange is an amazing addition to Downtown and to the city. Upon a trip to the store you'll find lots of unique items, many of which are locally owned/produced and/or locally-minded with great pride in the Capital city. Loved seeing the store's effort to incorporate other local business into the mix. Top service, excited to visit again!

Wonderful atmosphere, friendly staff, and unique inventory! This shop is the perfect addition to downtown. My favorite purchase so far: an Albany themed adult coloring book. There is something for everyone!

This street in Albany needs a winner like the Fort Orange General Store. I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express, and all I saw were defunct warehouse buildings. In the light of Saturday morning, I found the Irish Museum, the newsstand, the Irish New Orleans themed pub and the bottle shop. And now add the general store with immaculately clean windows, brilliant merchandising and genuinely friendly staff. One staffer greeted me and even offered to put together a gift basket for me. A pop up offered whiskeys and bourbons distilled in Albany, probably the first whiskey distilled in Albany since prohibition. The location across from the fairy tale castle that houses SUNY works because these casements and traceries show in the windows. A great place to visit on a sunny day after Black Friday.

I absolutely love this store. The storekeeper was very friendly allowing us to "window shop" indoors. Like an oasis in the middle of a desert. The air-conditioning indoors is very refreshing when walking miles on tour.

I was at a loss for what to get my staff for Christmas. I like to get local and unique things and I heard the store was a good place for that. After poking around a bit I mentioned to the proprietress what I was looking for and ended up with some great bags and gloves. My staff going to love this and I enjoyed the shopping experience.

Since opening back up at their new location I've become a real fan of this place. Awesome gift ideas abound and friendly staff who don't seem to be into the pressure sale thing so much as just friendly conversation and to be helpful when asked to be.
